The honeymoon is certainly not yet over between the Old Media and Barack Obama. It never really ended for Clinton, so one can easily imagine it won't for Obama. But whatever happens in the future, they are still in love with him now. I can say that because Obama has already broken two promises and the media isn't too interested in talking about it. Two promises broken before he even sets his first foot in the White House.
The first broken promise was the one where the candidate of "change" was going to bring a new tone to Washington. This one has been broken by Obama's choice for Chief of Staff: Rahm Emanuel. Representative Emanuel (D- Illinois) is a hard-core, far left, liberal as well as being an old Clinton hack. Not only that, but Emanuel is not a "new tone" kind of guy but is a Pit bull of epic proportions. The parallel would have been McCain claiming a new tone but picking Karl Rove as his Chief of Staff. Emanuel is little different than Terry MCauliffe or Howard Dean in his vehement and vocal attacks on Republicans. So much for the "new tone" Obama claimed he wanted to foster.
And, let us not forget that the candidate of "change" picked Joe Biden as his vice president. Biden is one of the least respected, old timey Senators in Congress with 34 years in office. Not much "change" there, either.
And now comes his second broken promise. Politico reported on November 5 that Barack Obama has stepped back from his claim that lobbyists would not have a place in his new administration.
Despite campaign trail promises that special interests wouldn’t be a part of his administration, President-elect Barack Obama’s has sent signals to the lobbyists that they can get jobs with him.
...the overall message to the lobbying community appears to run counter to the Democratic senator’s campaign promise to keep special interest advocates at arms length.
Once again, the "new" Washington that Barack Obama sold to a willing electorate is quickly turning into the same old Washington that Obama claimed he wanted to "change."
And, folks, can we take just a moment to remember that he has only been president elect for four days! In four days he's already stepped back from the supposedly monumental "change" he kept warbling on about since 2004. Four years of talking about "change" hasn't even given us four days to enjoy it before it all starts to become business as usual.
Tell me, does THIS sound like "change"...
"The rush is on," he said. "There are thousands and thousands of people (lobbyists) who are desperate for these jobs."
So far, after only four measly days, the names have changed but the story remains the same.

Obama, worst president in history
November 7, 2008 - 08:33 ET by DontFeedTheTrollsObama is a first class liar, he proved that over and over in the campaign. Does the MSM care? Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, I foresee that the MSM will tell us poor pitiful sweating masses that we had better not criticize ANYTHING Obama says or does until long after his reign is over (maybe not even then). The mantra will be, 'Only history can judge the earth-shattering historic Obama presidency', you mortals keep your mouths shut.

November 8, 2008 - 13:38 ET by Wildcatter1980The MSM sees themselves as the elites. We, on the other hand, are the great unwashed. We are rubes and hicks. We are bigots and homophobes. We are incapable of taking care of ourselves.
In the elites eyes, it is their lot in life to take care of us because we are too stupid to take care of ourselves.
I have predicted elsewhere that we are going to be in for at least 4 years of any of our criticisms being met with cries of RAAAAAACISM and RAAAAAACIST. Why else do you think the MSM, the Democrat Party leadership and the far left web sites got behind the Obamessiah the way they did? If you think President Clinton was made of teflon, we ain't seen nothin' yet!

November 7, 2008 - 09:04 ET by Prester JohnLost amid all of the jubilation of the Obama victory was the announcement by the Obama transition team that it had set up a separate transition program beyond the one that is paid for by the American taxpayer. Called the "Obama/Biden Transition Project," it is a 501(c)4 tax-exempt organization, with no limits on the contributions it can receive and no requirements to divulge the names of individuals or organizations that give it money.

Now if his regular campaign can help out with the transition as well as the federal funded organization, why would he need this one, hmmm?
ANSWER: ...the "project" is intended not only to identify personnel for the Obama Administration, but to then send those project employees who know all of the senior staff in the various Cabinet departments and federal agencies out into the corporate and lobbying community to leverage those contacts.
...the nonprofit may also serve as a haven for Obama supporters and campaign loyalists who for one reason or another can't be employed by the Administration or in the federal government. ncguy ...here ya go
November 7, 2008 - 18:09 ET by vrwc13Obama has portrayed himself as a new kind of politician who would like to curb the influence of money and special interests over the political system. In March of last year, the Obama campaign stated that he would "aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election" if he won the Democratic primary election. But the campaign backed away from those statements as Obama's popularity increased and the campaign contributions started flowing in. The more his fundraising efforts paid off, the more the campaign talked about pursuing that goal only as an "option" he would explore.
The decision also has historic implications; Obama is about to become the first presidential candidate since the public finance system was established in 1971 not to participate in general election public funding.

Here's how to solve the media bias
November 7, 2008 - 09:35 ET by AJBI thought long and hard about this. Everyone who feels like they were sold out by the media should join my new campaign to shut down biased network news. The FCC has a process by which you send objections to them for license renewals of stations. I suggest we start with NBC, the most blatantly biased news organization out there. Call your local NBC affiliate and ask how you submit comments on their relicensing to the FCC. Then, write a letter for every time they have broadcast a biased 'poll' (remember, NBC had the most error in their supposedly fair polls and used them to push their bid to elect Obama), or a biased news cast and object for them using the public airways for political activism. With enough objections, do you think we can shut down several affiliates?
Never Ended for Clinton?
November 7, 2008 - 09:42 ET by Elian Gonzalez"It never really ended for Clinton."
This is a joke, right? The media barely liked Clinton during the '92 campaign, and once Hillary moved them into the basement at the White House, the knives came out and stayed out. I had to be reminded of the media's fickle, babyish attitude when I read Carl Bernstein's biography of Hillary, and he is not a fan of her.
The media is in total LUV with Barack Obama (like anyone here needed that pointed out) in a way that makes me feel not tingly, but disgusted. I don't know how I'm going to get any news for the next four years that isn't finished with "XXOO, the MSM".

Private School subsidies
November 7, 2008 - 10:52 ET by dmntd1This article leaves a few glaring holes....
It states that in the past three years, Rahm Emanuel's 'charity' gave $25,000 to the private school his children attend. I wonder if that is on top of, or in stead of, tuition. Here's my scenario:
I earn $200,000 per year. I give $34,000 to charity, reducing my taxes by $11,200 (fed) and $1,020 (state) . That money I gave to charity is a charity I run (I gave it to myself, to avoid paying taxes, you see). The charity then gives some of that money to the school my children attend. The school, in thanks for my donation, allows my children to attend free of charge. I declare my primary residence as the headquarters for my charity, allowing it to be tax free.
The US Government, the State of Illinois, and whichever county and city my house is in, subsidizes my childrens' private school tuition to the tune of $15,000-$20,000.
Who said the libs in congress are against private school subsidies is crazy!

Or I could be wrong....
November 7, 2008 - 11:06 ET by dmntd1But that would be a great way to save me some cash!
I could also be that the tax assessor's records show the physical address of this property as (probably) 4232. That land sq-footage is 2-1/2 times the size of 4226, the next door neighbor. Also, the PINs (Property Index Numbers)are in numerical order, and are assigned when the property is divided. Each 'lot' would have it's own PIN, and the address on the house may, or may not, equal the address in the records.
If there is someone in chicago reading this, pictures to verify would be great *grin*

Obama: My job is above my pay grade
this isn't surprising at all ....
November 7, 2008 - 11:49 ET by pmohbuckwhat is surprising is that the colossal, crowning jewel of incompetence is still intact ... the american public ... and its continued ability to mindlessly follow charismatic speakers into the depths of hell without question. you'd think history would have taught people not to believe every word coming out of the mouths of those who seek power over them.
hitler ... so often used as a tool of the left to demonize a sitting US president by comparison ... had the same glazed-over, stupified masses drooling at rallies throughout the 1930s ... he wrote a book too ... even detailed his dreams of the world being a giant Germanic society. in 1945, after almost 10 million german deaths, a dead leader and a destroyed country did they realize ... "oops, maybe we should have looked a little closer at this man's agenda ... but damn, those fiery speeches were great"
even a dirtbag like charles manson used drugs and his ability to speak as bait to lure "disenfranchised" young people ... who overlooked his filthy appearance and insane ideas to sleep with him and kill for him. think there's any buyer's remorse on behalf of the manson girls?
so obama isn't fulfilling his promises and people are surprised?
maybe, someday, the masses will realize that campaign speeches are nothing but bait and they start looking for the hook hiding inside before they take a bite ... i guess it is hard to do when the media provides the boat needed for anglers like obama to catch their big meal.
"... but damn, those fiery speeches were great"

He doesn't strike me as one who handles criticism very well...just look at how Sean Hannity got under his skin.
The MSM could own him in a minute if they'd actually start doing their jobs, you know, the job that an independent, free American press is supposed to do.
He'd black them out, of course, and go into hiding, but the thing now is to hope that he can show himself to the American people for what he really is (or at least what many of us suspect him of) so he will not be viable politically four years from now, and more importantly, have Americans reject any radical plans he has for instilling Socialist programs and even more importantly, curtailment of freedom of speech.
