Time's Beinart: Republicans Hate Obama For His Kenyan Father, it's 'Racism'

This furious beating of the racism drum by the left shows how worried they are that Barack Obama might lose this election. Time Magazine's Peter Beinart once again charges "racism" against anyone that won't support Barack Obama. But, Beinart adds a twist to his accusation. It isn't just his race that is being held against him, in Beinart's eyes it is the fact that Obama has "foreign roots" that causes "whites" to mistrust him. But, like everyone blinded by the flash of the race card he doesn't see that it isn't racism that causes moderates and conservatives to shy from Obama. No, it isn't his relative blackness that people are against, it's his redness. Beinart misunderstands the simple fact that it's Obama's unAmerican ideals makes him not "American enough" to get the support of millions of Americans.

As the Time headline asks "is he American enough," Beinart delves into what he sees as the "Racist" claim that Barack's foreign father is offputting to "white" Americans. He posits that this is the main reason why people cannot warm to Obama. Then Beinart claims that the strategy of the McCain campaign is one of "using race to make Obama seem anti-American." Beinart says these "attacks" are hurting Obama in the polls with "working-class whites." He also seems to say that the whole campaign is filled with code words such as questioning what "kind of person" he is. These all culminate into a racist attack that undermines Obama.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Beinart thinks he knows why it works so well against Obama, too.

Partly, of course, this is a response to Obama's unusual biography: his African Muslim father, his foreign-sounding name, his childhood outside the continental U.S. But it's also a measure of the times. The racial wedge issues of the 1970s and '80s--busing, crime, welfare, affirmative action--have all but disappeared. When pollsters compile lists of Americans' top concerns, those barely register. What is on the rise is anxiety about globalization. Support for unregulated free trade has cratered on the Democratic left. Hostility to illegal immigration is red hot on the Republican right. And beyond the partisan divide, it's the same demographic that is most upset about both: working-class whites.

Whether he wants to or not, Obama has come to personify this more globalized, multicultural--yes, cosmopolitan--America. It's one reason many liberals love him: he embodies a new America, more diverse, more tolerant and more open to the world. But as Penn's memo implied, that's also his Achilles' heel. As the face of America has changed, so has the face of American racism. Old-fashioned antiblack bigotry still exists, but today, far more than 20 years ago, white Americans are likely to associate dark skin with foreignness.

But this completely misses the entire point of what the right is saying about Barack Obama. There is no great outcry that Obama is black. There is no fear that he "represents" a "globalized" America. No one cares at all if he had a black, Kenyan father. The right isn't at all about black with Barack Obama. It's about red. Red as in communism.

Obamas ideology is the "not American enough" aspect that the right is attacking. It isn't about his skin or parentage. It's 100% about ideas. The right sees that Barack has surrounded himself with every sort of America hater throughout his lifetime. Obama's legislative record is anti-life, anti-First Amendment, anti-capitalist. He refused for a long time to even wear a simple American flag lapel pin. He's been seen in photos not putting his hand over his heart when others next to him on stage have done so. Obama has gone overseas to campaign for murderous communist dictators. Speaking of overseas, he is the darling of the anti-American left there. Obama has been an operative for a group responsible for the biggest vote fraud effort in American history (ACORN). He has associated with domestic terrorists, Ayres and Dorhn, racists like Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright and he's been endorsed by many different communist organizations from the local Chicago New Party all the way to the Communist Party of the U.S.A. Obama's entire history screams anti-America.

Barack Obama represents the most radically leftist politics that has ever been so close to taking the White House. He represents every ideological anti-American position the right can imagine. The right sees his socialist styled ideas and his communist inspired history. The right sees red, not black. No one cares a whit if he's black.

But Beinart can't see this because to him Obama's socialist background is nothing to be worried about. To Beinart, socialists and communists can be just as American as anyone else. And therein lies his confusion. After all, how can the right claim Obama is unAmerican if communism can be just as American as Mom, Apple Pie and Baseball? So, to him, if Obama's ideology can't be the reason the right is against him... why it MUST be racism!

And this is the ultimate sticking point. To any true American, one that loves America's history, one that's proud of the Founding Fathers and the principles those giants poured into this country, a communist or socialist cannot be a true American. For communists and socialists want to eliminate everything that is American and replace it with foreign ideas. They want to erase America and remake it into something it was never supposed to be. Conservatives feel that communists and socialists can't love America. After all, they want everything about it torn down and remade into something wildly divergent from what it should be.

So, it isn't Obama's foreign birth that the right stands against. It is his foreign ideas. Yes, it's ALL about ideas.

Beinart wraps up his misguided piece with an even more ridiculous claim.

Fifty years ago, America's racial challenges came largely from within, as black Americans demanded full equality in the country they had inhabited for hundreds of years. Today many of America's racial challenges come from without, as Third World immigration transforms the nation and U.S. workers and leaders struggle to come to terms with China and India, the emerging, nonwhite superpowers. If Martin Luther King Jr. symbolized that earlier transition, Barack Obama may have inadvertently come to symbolize this one. How he fares on Nov. 4 will be a sign of America's willingness to embrace the realities of a new age.

Is Beinart saying that a rejection of Barack Obama is a rejection of the whole world? Apparently, Beinart see his messiah as a man that represents the whole world and anyone against simply must be against everyone else. I can only laugh at this grandiose claim. It is also amusing to note that this fits in exactly with why real Americans reject Barack Obama. He really is of the world. And, doesn't this show that he isn't of America? Doesn't Beinart's feeling that Obama represents the world present the perfect example of why many Americans find the man unpalatable? Doesn't it tend to confirm the fears that Obama will not represent American interests but will bow to "the world" representing foreign interests?

Can anyone blame the right for voting against Barack Obama?

So the playing of the race card goes hyperkinetic

Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my!

The expectation game is waaaaay out of control.

If That One loses, it will set back race relations in this country at least 50 years, and the Obama backers will have done it themselves.

they just wish things would

they just wish things would get back to the issues - like racism, slavery, etc...

Journalism is the opium of the liberals

As far as I can tell

All of the Dems HATE Repubs with a passion. So who are the real racist? These people spend more time trying to link everything under the sun to racism, seems to me only racist would think about it that much. Also where the heck is this "code word" manual to aviod being branded a racist.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

Another Obama butt warmer

Who cares what this piss ant says. They are going to change the ballots to say Obama or racist. They can Foxtrot Oscar.

Newspeak

This "code word" and closet racism discussion is an attempt at "Newspeak" just like in the novel "1984". Every word, phrase and discussion is twisted to become something that the commentators and pundits want people to believe. I won't be fooled and I'm pissed that this stuff gets projected on us by people to get their way.

These tactics are the tactics of the "Community Organizers/Communist Agitators".

Beinart's rant

This is the classic example of not being able to win the argument, so change the subject.  I defy this jerk to come and look at me and find a racist bone, but be careful when you look, becasue you will find a free captalist, that hates socialist.  The argument is not about color of his skin, it is about the stupidity of his argument.

I am so tired of these butt heads driving this type of crap when you argue for the right, it is not an argument of color.

How about Obama's lost 1/2 brother, in Kenya

Warner.. Oh come on - having a commie family member in the WH would really make life interesting? ha!

What Republicans, who are indeed very human and caring people, should be upset about is about Obama's half-brother in Kenya. Let me start with words from Bill Clinton 2 weeks ago (which made Larry King squirm in his seat - wishing Clinton would shut-up):

CLINTON: Yes. You've got everybody from people who think they are conservative Republicans to people who think they're liberal Democrats, and it turns out when it comes to saving a kid in Africa or giving a kid in Latin America an education or making a loan to a woman in a poor country in Southeast Asia, there is not much politics there.

People can see that we all have a common interest in allowing people to live their dreams.

KING: It is always great to see you.

..in other words, shut up Bill.. geeze. (I know the context there was a bit tough - but it was on my desktop - the sight of King squirming was priceless.)

Now - Republicans should care about why Obama doesn't care about George Hussein Onyango Obama: Barack Obama's 'lost' brother found in Kenya.

How can any journalist interview Obama and not demand that he address this? Fully vetted? My arse.

Great material there Warner. Thanks - (;~> gary

Obama is seriously anti-American.

And Beinart needs to realize that it doesn't take a supposed campaign strategy of the McCain campaign for it to be screamingly obvious that Barack Hussein "I've got a bracelet, too!" Obama is anti-American.

That One is the socialist in the room, and cannot be allowed to have real political power.  If he gets it, the United States just may not survive an Obama administration.

As a representative republic, that is.

Racism...

The only racism in this race is the media being racist against the white candidate.

However, implying racism because some citizens of the USofA don't appreciate our country being slammed by one of the candidates, or placed as a secondary priority to his other allegiances, is like shouting racism when because we want to stop illegal entry into our country.  It's an attempt to turn an argument from one of partriotism to one of racism.

Actually, the libs pretty much associate conservative patriotism with racism already, so why are we surprised?

It's all about ideology not skin color

Obama is anti-American because of his ideas, not because of his skin color or where his daddy came from.  Everyone is supposed to have an equal chance for success, not an equal share in everyone elses success. There is a huge difference.

These folks in the MSM are trying all the tricks to see if they can't get people to vote for their socialist messiah by shame, trickery, ignorance or fraud. That is their "all of the above" slogan.

You want change? Give me a dollar.

Huston is being cowardly

Warner Todd Huston acting like a coward when he calls Obama unamerican. If half the American public support the ideas of Obama enough to vote for him, then those ideas are necessarily American, even if they are bad ideas. That is how democracy works.

Furthermore, Anyone who runs for president in a two year exhausting process cares about this country. Obama is not some liberal bashing American from the comfort of his upper west side apartment, he ran for the highest office in the land for a reason. I disagree with him but I do not attack his motives.

We need to be smarter conservatives and not attack the patriotism of liberals. If Huston thinks it is so easy for conservatives to win when the discussion is on issues rather than race, why doesn't he argue the issues and stop trumpeting this unamerican crap.

We are not a democracy,

We are not a democracy, fool.

Thanks, Warner.

Perhaps he was too busy name-calling to remember that the United States is a representative republic?

Also

If 50% of the people vote for Barry, it is only because the MSM has facilitated the lies.

Obama has no character and no experience. I believe him to be amoral.

[The office of POTUS requires character. Obama has none.]

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

Hey RC

Bush won over half of the vote, when everyone is working against you, what does it matter?

If half the American public support the ideas of Obama enough to vote
for him, then those ideas are necessarily American, even if they are
bad ideas. That is how democracy works.

This is nonsense, their is only ONE American way. When Obama starts taking these away, that is when the REAL riots start. The Obama threats of when he looses wont hold a candle.

"Television is a freak show" Bernie Goldberg

Bull.

For starters, it's disrespectful to call someone else a "coward."  Now that we've gotten the "respectful" lie out of the way...

If, indeed, "half the American public" supported Obama, he'd have 150,000,000 supporters.  Think that's the case?

Neither do I.

And just because American citizens support Barack Obama, that doesn't automatically transmute Obama's brand of ethnocentric-liberation-theology fused with socialism into "American" ideas.

If you do not attack Obama's motives, then you might want to look into the nearest mirror before you refer to another human being as a "coward."  The Democrat Party ceased being interested in the overall welfare of the American citizenry a long, long time ago; it is interested in its own power and in its own advancement to the detriment of the country as a whole.

A "smart conservative" (and yes, this even includes folks like Rush Limbaugh) would man (or woman) up and call a spade a gardening implement.  Democrats, as a rule, are not patriotic--and that lack of patriotism starts with Barack Obama.

And that lack of patriotism is an issue of paramount importance, thanks.

"Furthermore, Anyone who runs for president in a two year exhausting process cares about this country."

Riiiight!!!!! Suuuure!!!

You need to jump on board with some Congresscritters who cannot understand the dufference between compromise and capitulation.

I guess the fantastic ego, the need to be in charge, the possible hate for America as it is, has nothing to do with it. I do remember the magazing cover with the halo behind his head.

"Patriotism

Pa"tri*ot*ism\, n. [Cf. F. patriotisme.] Love of country; devotion to the welfare of one's country; the virtues and actions of a patriot; the passion which inspires one to serve one's country. --Berkley."

I guess you disturbed me with your naivete'. The only word in the definition that appeals to most Democrats is "welfare". A welfare state is a socialistic state.

Therefore , sir , you are completely wrong, because to destroy the structure of a successful, generous republic is a definite lack of patriotism.

You do not attack his motives??? What a noble person you are.

Your attack on Warner Todd Huston is as bad as any I have seen and belies your profile. I do not agree with Warner on all issues, but there is no way he is a coward. But--I think most would agree that you are a naive fool.

" If half the American public support the ideas of Obama enough to vote for him, then those ideas are necessarily American, even if they are bad ideas."

What insipid trash. So every American votes for patriotic reasons? They always elevate their principles to lofty heights that are for the good of all Americans??? So black people support Obama on his brilliant ideas for change?? So skinheads vote against him based on their in depth study of his platform??

Grow up--stop eating the mushrooms!!!

respectful,

So, I guess the next thing you are going to be telling us is that Adolf Hitler was not an anti-Semite.

As for not attacking the "patriotism" of certain liberals, you are joking, right?

-Dave

If this nation is to be saved, it will be libertarian principles that save it.

Warner doesn't need anyone

Warner doesn't need anyone to come to his defense, but I'm going to add my voice here too.

There ARE certain things that are considered "American."  There IS an American "culture"  or whatever you want to call it.  That system relies on self-interest, free enterprise, and free markets and the ability to succeed through hard work.  What Obama is proposing is controlled and regulated markets, punitive taxation for the purpose of "fairness" (Obama's own word) and punishing success because everything is supposed to be equal.

It is socialism, which definitely IS UN-American.

Exactly right

Exactly right Motherbelt!

The very idea that America is literally anything that people want to make of it, that there is no real American ideal, no true American culture or concept is nihilism in the extreme.

In fact, such a vapid claim absolutely ELIMINATES the need, or even the capability, for laws to exist. After all, taken to the logical end, if America is just any old thing that someone decides on a whim, then why have laws? Let's throw them out and change everything every year.

Why have a Constitution if it is all meaningless fluff that can be altered on a moments notice?

Again we ARE NOT A DEMOCRACY. God forbid we should ever become one.

So ACORN are patriots, too?

"Again we ARE NOT A DEMOCRACY. God forbid we should ever become one."

Yup. And unless this outrage called ACORN is throttled, we're well on our way.

But by rescon's view, majority rules regardless, so I guess we all just need to suck it up. Welcome to Animal Kingdom.

I would disagree...

Half of the American public support him because they are being lied to, deceived, and manipulated by him and the MSM.  If Obama got the same scrutiny as Sarah Palin, or at least "fair" scrutiy, only the fringe leftists would remain behind him.  His true beliefs are very unAmerican! (since the USofA was founded on freedom and the premise of individual responsiblity... socialism is, by definition, un-American in the context of the USofA).

Anyone who runs for president wants power.  Most, but not all, intend to be public servents, but don't kid yourself.  The POTUS is the most powerful individual in the world, Obama is lusting after that.

I don't attack the patriotism of Democrats, or good hearted people confused by the liberal media establishment.  But true socialist liberals, like Obama, are enemies of the very things for which this country stands - specifically, individual liberty and personal responsiblity.

One single issue that is a very good barometer to illustrate this point:   gun control.  Any politician desiring to take away guns is saying, "We don't trust you to be responsible.  We don't believe you can be trusted with your own safety.  We don't believe that you should have any liberties outside of those that we have deemed 'good for you.' We want to ensure our ability to rule you without interference."

A citizens position on this single issue absolutely does define their true "patriotism."

Here's a wild leap in logic:

"Furthermore, Anyone who runs for president in a two year exhausting process cares about this country. "

Running for president shows that a person cares about being President of this country, nothing more.

You're right in that he did run for highest office in the land for a reason. But that reason may simply be to excercise the power of that office. It doesn't make him a patriot.

You claim to disagree with him (presumably "him" being Obama). Your claim smells like BS to me. Can you eloborate on some major points you disagree with Obama on?

Racism?

No I dislike Obama for his Marxism.

I won't vote for Obama because he is a Democrat. I wouldn't vote for Hillary because she is a Democrat. I wouldn't vote for Edwards because he is a Democrat.

Now to the goodies. The MSM for polling purposes has the ratio of Democrats to Republicans as 1.5 to 1. Which means if everything stays the same, Obama should win easily. However, if Obama loses, the logic is Democrats didn't vote for Obama. Doesn't that mean that Democrats are racist?

I've listened to the

I've listened to the dim-wit Beinart since he first came on the scene via television, I nick-named him ape-head, now I suppose that would be considered racist somehow the way things are going these days, if anybody has ever seen him much his head looks just like an ape and his brains match...I am to the point I really don't care, I've watched this twit way before I ever heard of Obama...

What the hell does he mean when he says...

Beinart says these "attacks" are hurting Obama in the polls with "working-class whites."

Why what's the worry ...according to Chucky Todd the race is over, Obama has won...

No, I am sick of this, I posted somewhere yesterday, when are we going to rise up and riot ourselves...I can't take this crap much more...he is a leftist and then some...

Obama and the msm in all venues are playing the race card...and it is getting mighty old, more than anything, it is bringing out anger in a lot of us out here in the real world...I am sick of this, Obama is a dangerous man, he subscribes to Black Nationalism, his mate does too...

They both can go to hell...and take the horse they rode in on with them...along with all of the msm and their filthy talking heads who are just as evil.

We all know what their plans are if he loses the election, riots, law-suits, racism, voter suppression...blah blah blah...

We need to rise up if they even get close to getting away with this..

BT--

As you know, I have been around for a long time. Perhaps in my earlier years, I was naive, or even remiss in noticing the events and incidents taking place during elections. I first noticed "smoking the opponent" when Clinton ran for office.

I have spent a lifetime avoiding and fighting prejudice and bigotry. There is no place for it in America. Listen to the people interviewed on TV and read it in the papers. Some call it "reverse prejudice". No, it isn't. It's prejudice! To vote for "that one" because he is black is as bad, if not worse than voting for "the other one" because one does not like blacks. So--it's not all right for us white folks to be "for" or "against" anyone on the basis of race, ethnicity or religion,, but it's OK for them to be "for" Obama because he is black. True Americanism there, huh?

And by the way I am not opposed to Obama because he is half white and half black. I am opposed to him because he is, in my book, half-assed.

What an empty suit. Unfortunately, his competiton is not much better. Good old "my friends". McCain. The same damned expression Juan Hernandez uses all the time. (McC's Latino vote advisor.)

For all his kiss up to the Latino voters, none of them would p*** on his leg if his pants were on fire. He has lost his way.

But then again, out of the 535 congress critters, there are only about 100 or so who are for America and Americans.

Tell you what, for the few years I may have left--to hell with it--I am going to look out for the well-being of white, non-Hispanic Americans and the rest of those traitorous racist Latinos and blacks can kiss my a**. I guess I want to live up to the image that racist bastards like Beinart accuse me of being.

When were you selected to help train the first black person in an otherwise all white office??? And the first woman?

When were you the butt of the joke in junior high because you were studing the "guinea" coast???

Not vanity ---fact. Piss off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill and Bigtimer, it is time for TERM LIMITS!!

Don't know if you have had the time to read the latest AWD post or not.  This country needs term limits.  It never will right itself with the present system of Senator and Congressmen for life!  Too much power and too much greed.  The founding fathers never intended on elected officials to stay in office for generations!

We need to get the ball rolling.  Americans are mad and sick and tired of the $&*^ we have ruling us in DC.  It's time to get MAD people!!

Jeff Lebowski

www.angrywhitedude.c...

I totally agree--

Just a suggestion, but Congressmen should have 4 year terms, so should Senators. Two times and adios---

Lobbyists should also have 2 four year terms. Both terms served in a Federal prison.

We need a groundswell of momentum for term limits

This is something that libs and conservatives can agree on.  Nobody is happy with Congress!  Let's start talking it up.  I'm going to email the angry white dude post to all of the conservative radio talk show hosts (I'm sure nothing will come of that) but if enough people would start talking, we could start the momentum.  If we do nothing, we know what we're stuck with!

Term limits: a cop out for the lazy

Jeff, WE are the term limits and WE are being lazy. If I like my Representative, I should be able to vote for him or her as much as I want. If I don't, I need to get off my ass and vote in someone else.

Term limits are just a nice convenient cop out for lazy voters.

Whoever casts a vote for Obama-Biden is nothing more than a common thief.  Whoever fails to vote against them is nothing more than a moral coward.

The lazy is exsactly why we need them

Look I understand what you are saying. I just believe that lazyness is why we end up with these sad sacks in office for 20-30 yrs. Look if you want to be my state rep and then my Congresman, then Senator or Govenor, then fine you have earn the right to become a career politician. The real problem is, the incubents make the rules and have huge advantige over everyone else.

I already put my two cents

I already put my two cents in earlier today below you guys by about two posts earlier this morning when it all started...we are in agreement Uns.

Unsane,

Basketball is almost upon us. Then we will agree, I'm sure.

I'm not worried about whether or not I will be lazy, or you, or Bigtimer, or Free Stinker, or Ster, or on and on. I am getting tired of politicians from other states attempting to make my live miserable. All in the name of "fairness". Term limits may be the easy and wrong answer, but something has to be done to make being a career politician less desirable.

Jeff

I've been saying for some time now, and by that, I mean my adult life, that only two words come to mind when I think of Congress: TERM LIMITS.

Why should congressmen and senators be lifelong DC dwellers when even the President gets term limited out?

Of course, if the sheeple in states like Mass. and others would wise up, it might not be necessary. Other idiots in othere states elect idiots time and time again, and those of us that put reasoned people in office suffer the same fate as said idiots. Term limit their asses out there.

First off....morning all...and I disagree...

I want to briefly explain, I remember when this idea was on fire about 15 years ago or so...I thought, hell yes, sounds good to me. just what we need..

then I started learning more watching C-SPAN and the congress-critters, there are some fine, patriotic law-makers in there, I wouldn't want them to go because of this..I did more thinking about this as time went on, I came to the conclusion I was wrong...we have term limits...problem is, people do not even learn to know anything about who their reps are, let alone even know who they are...

Same results would happen with term limits and somebody else you put up...which may be worse...

It is up to the voters to learn who and what they are voting for...either way.

You get what you deserve...maybe someday their will be requirements made at the voting booth for a competency test of some kind before you are eligible to vote...that is the only solution I see...that or letting only people vote who pay property taxes...just a few ideas...and I know that isn't fair or the solution either...

Well...that's my two cents.

BT --How dare you?? LOL

I do see your point. I happen to have an outstanding Rep and I would hate to lose him--and the old argument--baby with the bath water does hold true, but---I think the risk is less

Another good point you brought up was--competency testing--

Problem is--it'll never happen--good heavens, we cannot even keep illegals from voting. So--as loose as it is, I still go with term limits.

It will prevent a Kennedy, Frank, Byrd, Reid,Pelosi recurrence.

I can only think of a few people I would want to stay in office for an extended period, much, much fewer that those I would want to remove.

Hey misterb...I'm chuckling

Hey misterb...I'm chuckling here...well as you well know..it isn't the first time, nor most likely will it be the last time I seem to be in the minority.

We really wouldn't know who would get in the place of others who were secretly backed by enemies of this country either...I know we already are, but I just see more problems instead of solutions...to me the real solution is in congress itself, quit giving seniority to the same old, same old on the committees that control all that is voted on in congress and all the hearings, that is where I want term limits, I think this should be rotated at least every two years.

One example...the Judiciary committee...EPA...on and on...

A greeeat start-- I deplore the seniority games that are played in the Congress. Fresh minds would, hopefully bring fresh solutions. And two years seems like a good limit!

Exactly misterb...look how

Exactly misterb...look how many years KKK Byrd and Stevens held the Appropriations committee....

Kennedy and his....on adn on...Baucus is another...

...this is the real problem...this is where the real control and power is, some of these critters only stay as long as they do for the control adn power over us, most people don't even know how congress works, or where all the laws, rules, regulations come from, it is past sad.

Bigtimer, If it's any

Bigtimer,

If it's any consolation... I am against term limits, too. Seems to me term limits actually take away the right of the people to vote for whom they wish to vote.

If the electorate isn't informed enough to put the right guy in office, the solution is to educate not just get rid of the "wrong" politician on some schedule.

WTH... Two

WTH...

Two words...

Thank you.

Well, being a typical gal, I can't stop at two words...thank you for all you do too to keep us informed..or at least stop and think.

I can only admit to doing

I can only admit to doing the best I can. I only wish I could do better. My grammar is horrible, my spelling el-suckos (a little Spanish lingo there) and I sometimes miss a detail or two. But, I try.

You do fine

Certainly one of my favorites,  my spelling el-suckos too : ]

<edit> btw...I am just as guilty as not having very proper grammar...sorry I don't go back in and take the time to correct adn to and at times...my fingers get ahead of myself...

...oh well...that's life...and I deal with it....lol.

Bigtimer, for the first time, we disagree

There are so few good leaders left in DC.  And if they are good and have OUR best interests in mind, they are relegated to the back of the pack for not playing the "game."

What would it be worth to us to rid ourselves of Kennedy, Schumer, Kerry, Specter, Dodd, Byrd?  Those are only the Senate!

What has always galled me is people like Dole, who never had a job outside of government and leaves a tremendously wealthy man.  We need change.  Don't give them opportunity to form their old boy societies.  Off with their heads!

Hi jeff... LOL..well, we

Hi jeff...

LOL..well, we all can't agree all the time ya' know...that's why IO didn't post about this on your site yesterday...

As to your post here...best way I know to explain the seniority problem is what I posted above, I think second post to misterb...because I agree with you there...that is the real solution to me, make seniority obsolete in congress, that is what the real problem is...well other than stupid voters.

TERM LIMITS It is good

TERM LIMITS

It is good enough for the president, it should be good enough for senators and representatives.

2 terms for senators ... total
5 terms for representatives ... total

If conservatives are RIGHT, then liberals must be WRONG.

LionKing, I agree

we need to start spreading the word and make this a hot topic!  nothing will change unless we do.
