One would assume that the Old Media would have a phalanx of intrepid mushing, journos swarming about Wasilla, Alaska, Sarah Palin's hometown. One would think that every single person that lives within 100 miles of Wasilla would have been contacted by at least one journalist by now. That the media's due diligence would have been dilagenced to death at this point. I mean, it's been two weeks! Well, according to Greta Van Susteren, the media is curiously absent in Wasilla.
Greta posted a quickie blog entry on September 12 wondering where the heck everyone was?
What surprises me is that almost no journalists covering politics have come to Wasilla to get to learn more about the Governor. You learn a great deal by meeting friends, family, people in the community, business people, people in restaurants, reading the local newspaper etc….I know it is far from home for all of us and expensive for networks but I am delighted Fox sent us here. It gives me a “point of reference” so that I can better (not perfectly, but better) do my job for you…I hope you have enjoyed our coverage so far…
Well, that IS a curious thing, isn't it?
Yet, the newspapers, cable outlets and the Big Three Nets SURE as heck have been knocking themselves out creating anti-Palin stories, haven't they?
One wonders where they are getting their info?
Tis a curious thing, indeed.

I'm not sure what reality you're talking about, but I wouldn't mind going there. Would you care to revise and extend your flagrant lie? I'm curious about how distorted one's world view has to be to perceive the Us smear-job as a "puff piece". As for wanting the media to start ignoring Palin, a reprieve from the constant attacks would be nice, but focusing on Obama vs. McCain doesn't give them much to work with. Red meat, remember? They gotta tear into somebody over in the McCain-Palin campaign, and the latter is the easier spin for them. Too bad it's also the one that'll bite them harder in the end. Okay, so that's not really a bad thing after all...

I've noticed the counting of words...
September 15, 2008 - 13:52 ET byRog,
Instead of reading the words, it seems the pro-Palin types have begun to count the words as trying to show how much attention is being paid to Miss Alaska runner-up. Eventually, the only noise will be Fox and this site yelling from the top of Pioneer's Peak as to wondering where all the attention on Sarah went. It's running it's course as the lipstick is being wiped off and the public learns more and more about this pathetic choice of a VP. Have you come to terms with her being a full blown socialist cloaked in conservative clothing?
This election is about McCain and Obamammy. Not how Palin fails or succeeds under more scrutiny.

September 15, 2008 - 12:14 ET byS.J.Anus,
Bush has been following Obama-man's suggestions for the past few months since they seem to be good ideas instead of his lack of them. As for McCain, he's stated several times he'd like to see Victory in Iraq as long as it takes in public, yet, in private says we're about to lose it to Condi. So, what's it going to be? Stay or go? Proud of Bush and his new ideas (Obama's)? Or McCain's waffling? Sing this to the old Clash tune-How appropriate to today's situation...
Darling you gotta let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
If you say that you are mine
Ill be here til the end of time
So you got to let know
Should I stay or should I go?
Always tease tease tease
You're happy when I'm on my knees
One day is fine, next is black
So if you want me off your back
Well come on and let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
An if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know
This indecisions bugging me
If you don't want me, set me free
Exactly whom I'm supposed to be
Don't you know which clothes even fit me?
Come on and let me know
Should I cool it or should I blow?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double
So you gotta let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
So, which way do you go?

September 15, 2008 - 14:08 ET bysjanus,
McCain says what needs to be said in public to show his support for Victory in Iraq. He's hiding his displeasure with the progress of the war and a possible outcome not to his liking...he voiced these concerns with Condi. You are reading more sources for your news for a more balanced view, correct? Will the US have a presence in Iraq in the long term? As things have changed, I would have to say maybe not a definitive yes. I'd like to see our forces in Afghanistan hunting Osama than trying to rebuild Iraq. Let our contractors rebuild Iraq with Iraqi funds. If Iran decides to invade, throw a few tactical nukes at them and watch them cower and high tail it home.

Another typical MSM tactic
September 15, 2008 - 10:05 ET by sms5217These stories of MSM reporters going up to Alaska and finding oh so many "opponents" of Palin is just another typical MSM drive-by hit job.
MSM reporters have noses more sensitive than dogs when it comes to finding "opponents" of Republicans and/or conservatives.
Hence, they scour the countryside of Alaska, a state where around 80% support Palin, to find the five or so hitmen/hitwomen who then get on camera to denounce Palin. Never, ever, do they sample the vast majority of Alaskans who support Palin.
Ask yourselves, do the MSM ever go into a Democratic stronghold like Chicago and find the few conservatives(brave as they may be) who do not like Obama?
Sarah has been completely vetted, inside and out. Barry Jr. has not been. Not one person, not even O'Reilly has put him on the spot in any interview, anywhere. The only person of national significance who could are Rush and Hannity, and there is NO way Barry would do that. Palin has a million leftist MSM'ers who would love to carve her up on every network and every paper and every blog.
Trial lawyers are the scum of the earth
I'd like to think that the MSM...

She has a nice way about her that causes people to open up. I don't know whether it's because she's non-confrontational when she takes her lawyer hat off. Also, she seems to be a stickler for research before she starts on a subject.
She did a great show a few years ago at Whiteman AFB, even did an interview from the cockpit of a B2 bomber. It was terrific. I wish they'd cool the crime stuff and do "Greta at Large"....dumping Geraldo wouldn't be a bad idea, either.

As for Greta, the crime stuff drives me nuts too, night after night, on and on, and onzzzzzz... But she is like a dog with a bone when she picks up little inconsistencies. A nice friendly dog. Confrontational in a friendly way.
BTW, congrats on the h/t.

False Impression???
September 15, 2008 - 10:18 ET by nofateI thought we had been reading since the Palin announcement that the media had "airdropped" hundreds of "investigators" into Alaska, including Wasilla. Some of the "on the scene" reports I have waded through even quote residents of the area, especially those that had some disagreement with Sarah. Have they been unable to find anything substantial that they could sink their teeth into, or were they not there at all?
Just wondering.
I also wonder about the enemies she has accumulated. The Obama campaign and their acolytes like the NYT have certainly been combing the woods for anyone even remotely dissatisfied with Sarah. My guess is that even with her 80% popularity rating, there are a lot of those "good ole boys", politicians, oil co. execs, powerful types like that who will not forget that Sarah "screwed" them out of a LOT of money, then gave it to the people of Alaska. These people have long memories and irregardless of political party, would be happy to talk to Obama's "investigators" for the right price.
Bork and Thomas were warm ups for Sarah. I think this has just begun to get ugly. They are very aware that their media campaign is turning people off so they are going to regroup and go covert using the tactics developed by Alinski and others. They are desperate to "Pathologize the Right". They see this as maybe their best chance for a long time to take over the institutions of cultural indoctrination. One of the big questions is wether they can get their media/nutroot attack dogs called off now that they have been unleashed.
