John Edwards Stiffs the Kids, Cancels Scholarships... Hello Media?

Yes, there are two Americas. The one where John Edwards used to have a scholarship program that he intended to set up as an example for all of America to follow... and the one where he cancels that scholarship program. Is it because he isn't running for president any more? Since Edwards has other things to do now -- like hiding from the media in his mistresses' house and maybe getting a few $400 haircuts -- Edwards has pulled the plug on his pilot scholarship program in North Carolina. It was for the kids... now it isn't. As the media ignores Edwards' love child story, any takers if they will ignore this one, too?

In May of 2007, to great fanfare, Edwards rolled out his "College for Everyone" plan saying that this was a college plan for "any student wishing to work hard." At that time, the well coiffed, two-time presidential candidate said that he wanted "every young person" to go to college and touted his new program then beginning at Greene Central High School in Snow Hill, NC.

At Greene Central High School in Snow Hill, North Carolina, Senator John Edwards today announced his plan to make college more affordable for millions of students. Edwards' College Opportunity Agenda includes a national "College for Everyone" initiative, which would pay for one year of public-college tuition, fees, and books for any student who is willing to work hard and stay out of trouble.

It was national news, then, of course.

But now that he no longer needs the publicity, the kids find themselves in one of those Americas where they have no more scholarship because John Edwards has yanked the one he was offering.

Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards is pulling the plug on a scholarship program he started at an Eastern North Carolina high school -- a program he once promised would be a model for the nation under an Edwards presidency.

It is said that the program was a great success and helped many of the kids at Greene Central to go on to college and all at a small cost of $600,000 over the last 2 years, small at least for the multi-millionaire, Edwards. But alas it is no more.

Some local reports have claimed that this scholarship program was a three-year program. But there was little talk of any three-year-lifespan when he announced the program.

In any case, the scholarships are gone, Edwards deciding not to continue the program. Let's sit back and see if the media report this one? Then again, maybe he is just that irrelevant?

Warner

I posted a link to this story in the thread about his mistress. I think that Liz is getting ready to sue his butt for divorce over the love child and he will be broke.

I live one county over from Greene County. GCHS is the only high school in that county. It is small, around 500 students I think. Could be that he wasn't expecting that many students to qualify for the offer. It is a poor school.

I always believed this was just a sham just to get him back into the spot light.

Be kind to your kids. They'll be choosing your nursing home.

I was going to say he will

I was going to say he will need that money for legal fees to try to keep his money in the divorce.

"Forget change, I want improvement!"

Rick I heard it on local radio today.

It was a very limited scholarship from what I hear

Only good for Hypocrit University school of Business Rhetoric and Information Spinning - HU.BRIS for short.

Apparently Obama has that market cornered so it's useless.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

Hey, listen...

Hey listen, now he has to pay the mistress 15 G's a month. Can't do the scholarship and pay the mistress. Ya gotta understand.

Leave John Alone!

John Edwards has every right to date whomever he wants now that he's a widower. His wife's valient fight against cancer that we all watched during his campaign for president may have been in vain, but I'm sure she wishes him all the best in his new pursuits.

Some say he is even thinking now about a complete makeover that will include a crewcut and less eye shadow that he will unveil on the wildly popular news show, The View.

His millworker (aka factory manager) father and stay-at-home white mother, are leaving the confines of their 8000 square foot mountain top retirement retreat to be audience members and to take a gander at their new granddaughter before hopping on their jet for a quick trip to their place in the bahamas. Granddad was overheard reminding young people how wonderful union jobs are in this country and how much a millworker can make. Some of those teens were heard asking "what's a millworker?"

Obvious proof, again, that

Obvious proof, again, that it's easier to spend other people's money than your own. He wanted this program to be paid for by Americans, but didn't want to shell out the entire cost himself.

"Stiffs the Kids", because

"Stiffs the Kids", because he stiffed someone else...

Rielle Hunter’s Web site

If you haven’t seen "Rielle Hunter’s Web site" it is a wild psychedelic trip.

I read about half of the “story of my life” until I could not take it any more. She sounds as if she is completely lost to LSD. Not only is this women scary as a drugee; the idea that anyone with any responsibility would have anything to do with this woman is disturbing. The fact that millions of people were supporting and voting for a presidential candidate who is willing to go behind his sensible wife’s back to have an affair with, and sire a child upon, this completely lost soul is super scary.

The other very real possibility is that this whole thing, i.e., Rielle Hunter’s alleged Web site, is a hoax, a disinformation project put out by the DNC.

Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

Well...

With as irrelevant as John Edwards is, I doubt anyone would go to the trouble of making a hoax website with political butt covering in mind.
