Obama Tech Advisor Introduces Video of Gay, Singing Jesus Who Gets Hit by a Bus

Video Below the Fold

Erick Erickson over at RedState tells us all of an anti-Christian video recently introduced with great frivolity by Internet philosopher and Obama technology advisor Larry Lessig. The video introduced at a Google Author series seminar shows Jesus singing the Gloria Gaynor tune "I Will Survive" in a very effeminate, theatrical way. As the song ramps up, Jesus throws off his robe and strips down to a diaper-like covering, then he sashays through a modern city until he gets hit by a bus in an intersection.

The worst thing about this is that this is also another scandal involving a Barack Obama campaign associate showing his disdain for the American mainstream, this time a disdain of Christianity. It turns out that Lessig is a somewhat secretive Obama campaign advisor, serving to assist the campaign on Internet and technology policies. As Erickson points out, Lessig hosts Obama's tech policy on his own lessig.org website.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

At the conference, the Google employees can be heard laughing and enjoying the show. The clip ends with Lessig claiming that we shouldn't worry because a sequel shows that Jesus survives being run over by the bus. How comforting, eh?

Again, as Erickson points out, "Barack Obama's campaign has regularly cited Lessig as a key supporter on technology issues (see here too) and made sure Lessig was quoted when listing Obama's technology endorsers."

Aside from his attacks on Jesus, Lessig is also an advocate of the concept of digital communism, a belief that there should be no such thing as intellectual property rights, that all creations of art or technology should be free for the taking.

So, what we have here is another close Obama supporter and advisor that seems to hate the things that the average American holds dear. The list of America hating Obama associates is getting longer every day, and now we can add a Christian hating, communist to that list.

It's really hard to believe that any real American can support a man for president of the United States of America who surrounds himself with people who so hate this country and all it stands for.

Hit by bus - not original

Seems this guy has no sense of originality.

This is a cheap takeoff on a PIXAR cartoon featuring a space alien (circa 1999).

Sequel

He says there's a sequel in which Jesus survives, "so chill."
I'd like to see him try showing a video with a gay singing Mohammed getting hit by a bus, if he's so brave!

Oh, I get it. A "gay

Oh, I get it. A "gay Jesus" camping it up half naked in traffic is OK, as long as he doesn't get killed by a bus.

You see, this is why I just don't "get" liberal humor; I'm not "sophisticated." Little nuances like that are lost on me.

Shall we hold our breaths waiting for the MSM to ask the Obama to denounce this? (Imagine a McCain staffer doing this!)

Jazz Hands!!

It's really hard to believe that any real American can support a man

WTH

My new favorite quip regarding Obama is that he expects us to believe that he can lie down with dogs and not get up with fleas.

It's just coincidence that he has all these America-hating folks in his sphere. Doesn't mean they are like-minded.

<sarc off>

Lessig's just a lefty

Calling him a commie is going overboard, which is exactly what he accuses corporations like Disney of bribing congress to do. It seems like every time it's going to become possible for cartoonists to use "Steamboat Willie," copyright gets extended again. Lessig is popular for a reason that a commie would not be popular. Despite the diss of Jesus (I haven't watched this yet, but I've met Larry Lessig and found him one of those "lefties I can talk to") he speaks to what's going on with technology in a way that makes sense to some people, and a commie could not do that. And the "copyleft" thing, while it often looks from a distance like "no property rights," is actually a deeper idea than that, in subtle ways much better explained by Eric Raymond than by me.

Lessig's also TOTALLY right that I should be able to try to decrypt anything I own, and then talk about it if I find a way that works. If IP companies want protection from "hackers," they have a moral and technological choice:

1. Use and pay for decently-strong cryptography (Sonny Bono's law pretended it doesn't exist, which is simply clueless) in the first place, and rely on math to protect your intellectual property. This involves paying an expensive and often-cranky professional, but it prevents a variety of future issues. Or...

2. Try to use your already bought & paid for congresscritters to pass some law against decrypting your crappyass products, which you refused to build right in the first place, in a futile quest that's never going to work without a much-stronger worldwide system of control freakery a la Orwell's 1984 or Animal Farm, and even then laws just won't work as well as using halfway decent crypto.

I'm with choice #1. Build it right in the first place, and there won't be any security issues. It's never PGP that's having the security issues, it's always someone's attempt to go cheap & stupid by trying to substitute secrecy for security. Bottom line lefty law professors like Lessig and I agree-on: Laws should not reward "cheap & stupid," because life doesn't.

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

I'm a Computer Scientist and your post is incoherent to even me

So I can just imagine what everyone else thinks of it. Of course the whole "he's not that bad" attitude doesn't exactly make me want to try and figure it out because if you honestly think "he's not that bad" after this garbage, I really don't care what you say after that.

Computer scientists

Clearly aren't cryptographers, and sometimes it painfully shows. The way to protect secrets isn't with laws that can never be enforced worldwide. I know, whether or not you do.

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

Encryption and the Justice System are two different things

Computer scientists are educated in encyption but usually not the class on anarchy. An argument for encryption and the abolishments of patent laws, the legal system and intellectual property rights are two different things and your attempt to lump them together is idiotic.

The Anti 'Man-Made' Global Warming Resource

Astute comment, Sarcasmo - Lessig is right on IP

IP is gradually devolving into another form of government-sponsored theft and mismanagement. Corporations should be solely responsible for protecting their own assets. Patent Offices can't keep up, problems with sharks using submarine patents are a constant headache, Disney etc. keep paying their Congresscritters to lengthen copyright protection.

Lessig is exactly right on these issues.

Pres. Bush: Our guiding principle is clear. We must lead the world to produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions and we must do it in a way that does not undermine economic growth or prevent nations from delivering greater prosperity for their people.

Ridiculous Logic

Sarc, I suspect you believe in anarchy? Because either you support private property rights or not and that extends to digital intellectual content.

Copyleft is completely communist/socialist in nature. In your world no software company would have the right to profit from their intellectual property since it would be up to them to enforce it worldwide! The same idiotic argument could be made to private property rights and the police. By your notion the Police, FBI ect.. have no business investigating or preventing personal property theft and we should all just hire a private army.

While it is on use to take the necessary steps to protect our intellectual and private property, it is not on us to defend ourselves against the whole world without the threat of legal prosecution and law enforcement.

Your "wanting" to steal digital content is not a right no matter how bad you wish it was. By your argument you would not be legally responsible for breaking into my house and stealing my computer because I did not install a good enough security system = Bullshit.

Only idiots could believe that a logical argument.

No muslim humor allowed

I suppose Christians have to fly some planes into skyscrapers, lob some heads off and oppress women in order to get any kind of respect from these a**holes.

I  hang out with America-hating pastors, bomb throwing commies, and anti-christian advisors, so now you know what I mean when I say I offer change you can believe in. Hee-hee-hee. - - - -  Something Obama may say ten minutes after injecting truth serum.

not amused

I have no sense of humor, zero tolerance for this kind of desecration/sacrilege from people on the left who mock Christ, Christians, the Pope. I realize Christianity has problems within, just as all other religions. In my opinion and to my knowledge Christianity is more charitable to mankind throughout the world than any other religion. People have plenty of other things to make fun of.

Snobbish people like Bill BIG MOUTH Maher, continuously poking fun at Christians, saying it's just a joke, relax, take it easy, it's all in fun. I dare funny man Maher, the loud mouthed buffoon chicken little that he is, to make fun of or cut some jokes about other religions like Islam/Muslim or their prophet Mohammed. Billy Boy would find himself out of a job quicker than Don Imus or worse.

I think Obama may have been born 10-15 years too late. He seems to surround himself with these change, yes we can type radicals (dead from the neck up). 1960's generation still trying to change the world, by any means necessary. I sound just like my dad, I remember him ridiculing me and my friends years ago for associating with like minded people. I snapped out of it, thank God.

I hope to be laughing at Obama if/when he loses in the Nov election, I'm praying for a McCain landslide.

Obama is a Socialist!

When is America going to wake up to the Socialist nature of this racist bastard?  he isn't the one we've all been waiting for!  He is the LAST thing this country needs at thsi time.  He should be sent packing back to his roots in Chicago.

Just a fine example about

Just a fine example about the world hating Jesus. Sure it's irritating that these people feel that it's funny to mock Jesus but He said himself this type of hatred (or "humor" disguised as hatred) was going to happen.

By justice a king gives stability to a land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it. -Proverbs 29:4

There's no sense

getting upset with what the lost write, produce, draw, etc. denouncing and mocking Christianity. They are getting their reward on earth. We should really pity them, because someday, they will have to answer to the One they are mocking, and He won't be so meek and mild to these poor people. Eternity being seperated from God is MUCH longer than the pitifully short time we spend on earth.

This is typical radical

This is typical radical left wing buffoonery.

these idiots love making fun of Christianity, but they are terrified to do the same to Islam.

While I am deeply offended, I have come to expect this from anyone that is associated with Barack Obama.  God truly help this nation if this radical, racist, vile, anti-Christian, left wing fool gets elected to the Presidency in November.

William Ayers (who teaches at UIC where I graduated from)  "Rev."  Wright, Lessig, his wife....I mean these radicals will destroy America.  As they say, birds of the same flock fly together.  Or as we say in Spanish, "Dime con quien andas y te dire quien eres."  roughly translated to, "Tell me who your friends are, and I'll tell you who you are".  J

I have said it countless times.  Barack Obama reminds me of Hugo Chavez in 1998 when he was able to get even the most sophisticated Venezuelan Conservative to vote for him.  Now, these same Venezuelans regret ever supporting this monster.  Chavez had the same slogans of change and hope.  Well we know now where this "change" and "hope" has led Venezuela.

while I don't believe Obama wants to be a dictator, he will make every effort and succeed in many cases to take the United States of America as far left as he can.

I pray that this nation wakes up and doesn't allow this great imbecile to ever get into power.

I suppose I should pity the

I suppose I should pity the utterly ignorant and mentally deficient degenerates that create this kind of worthless, unfunny and vile excrement, but I don't.

Is it time---

Is it time --that the Christians build an army of Soldiers of Christ to defend our faith and our families?? Should Christians teach the world that we should not be treated worse than Muslims or an other religion?/ Or should we continue to turn the other cheek??

Where I grew up, if you turned the other cheek, that just enabled the other guy to punch you on that side! If we do nto fight for respect, we will get none!!!!!!

Turning the other cheek

Turning the other cheek doesn't mean letting others walk all over you. Jesus wasn't turning the other cheek when he made a whip and kicked the money-changers out of the Temple, but you have to choose your battles wisely.

Jesus can take a joke, but apparently Mohammed can't - if his followers need to kill people in response to insult. Christians, on the other hand, are expected to pray for their enemies. (That doesn't mean surrender to them - btw)

good question - you should

good question - you should pray to God for the answer...

if God be for us - who can be against us?

I don't feel like we should sweat it too much - tempest in a tea cup

God's strength is made perfect in our weakness

it's Mohammed and the other gods of the world who need defending by their followers

Jesus hardly needs our meager help, I dare say:)...any defense we could possibly lend to God would probably be pretty laughable, don't you think...?

No, in fact we are talking about this in our home group & church

God uses small things to do great things. He used David to kill Goliath. Jesus used 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish from a small boy's lunch to feed thousands and thousands of people.

My paster actually had a good saying "our best ability for God to use is our availability." God and Jesus will not be mocked and Jesus has the final judgement, but He also wants us to defend our faith and try to reach out to the lost. To say "Oh God will do it or God doesn't need my help" is not Christian.

God uses lowely people and lowely things to do great things because it just gives Him even more glory because if someone does something that everyone else considers impossible, then the only explanation is that God was involved.

so what will you yourself

so what will you yourself do specifically?

it's true God's wants our SERVICE - but defending Him...?

Didn't YouTube and Google

Didn't YouTube and Google ban this video??

Yet another Obama datapoint that shows

He is Communist at heart, does not hold any traditional American principles dear other than the "vote for me" principle and that he is actively anti-Christian.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

a gay singing Prophet Mohammad getting hit by a bus

Lessig should do the same video with a gay singing Prophet Mohammad getting hit by a bus.

That would effectively be the end of the Obama campaign.

This is a very old video, I

This is a very old video, I first saw it doing the rounds after the BBC aired Jerry Springer, the Musical. It has not been created or introduced by Lessig.

amies, Yes i agree, i saw this video long before i ever heard of

Well no one is saying that

Well no one is saying that the video is new! No one is saying that Lessig created it, either. What we ARE saying is that Lessig endorsed it by showing it at the beginning of his Google seminar.

THAT is the point here Lessig thinks it's funny and it shows his disdain for Christianity.

WTH, ok good ;-) I got the impression here that it was new clip

I just heard Rush mentioning you and this thread on his show, today! GOOD JOB! ( i see the bold mentioning it above)

LOL...

Yeah, it's a heck of a thing, eh?

well it wasnt funny

Still awaiting the humor.

I got a great idea to try out. Just as the Jesus one, this one won't be funny either, but that didn't stop him here so he should go for it.  Break out one of the prophet Mohammed and let's see what reaction that brings.  Should be good times for all eh?

Ummm

I'm not sure if you read the comments section over at Redstate, but the commenters let Erick have it for this post.  There's really nothing coherent about the argument he's presenting.

And the accusation that the guy hates America is an non sequitur and a pretty dishonest smear.  He thinks that copyright law should be reformed for the digital age.  It's an issue that deserves debate without the charged rhetoric, as the guy has a varied background in law and information technology.  He didn't "attack Jesus" either.  He didn't even make the film.  He presented it in a forum as an example, in a setting that was taken completely out of context.   I suggest you guys dig a little deeper into who Lessig is and what his views are before you make these giant leaps.  But, hey, this is most assuredly a "scandal".   They giggled at a silly video, so somehow that translates into a reason to pile onto Obama. Good grief.

Does Mocking Jesus Mean Hating Him?

I don't believe that most people who mock Jesus really hate him or his principles. It seems more as an attempt to piss off Christians or, more specifically, Catholics because they know that making fun of Jesus is one of their push-buttons. Does it make you a communist, though, to despise, if not hate, organized religion? I support the war effort going on in Iraq and Afghanistan and I have deep respect for the military, but that doesn't mean I have to respect religion, specifically organized religion. I don't like the Catholic Church, I don't like evangelical Christianity, and I don't like Islam, whether it's moderate or radical-extremist. Yeah, I'm always annoyed that we can't even see the Danish cartoons depicting their prophet in the Mainstream Media. It's even worse in Canada. Art Spiegleman wrote an article in a Canadian magazine that featured the actual "offending" cartoons while he critiqued each one of them, and some bookstores refused to place the magazine on their stands. At least we are not in Canada, so I can say, without any hesitation,... Suck it, Mohammed. It's not nearly as hard as it sounds. You just write it, and it's out there.

Here we go again

Here we go again. Conservative Christians having trouble keeping things in proper context.

No one should make a presentation using a video of a gay singing Jesus who gets hit by a bus in any context! It is offensive to millions of Christians who believe in Jesus.

Surely these clowns could have made a presentation on copyright technology to get their point across. With millions of videos to choose from, as well as other resources available, they made the decision to use this old controversial garbage.

I would like to see Enrickson/Lessig make any presentation with a gay singing Mohammed who gets hit by a bus. I wonder if the Islam/Muslim communities will be so tolerant and understanding? If it were me, I would be looking over my shoulders the rest of my life.
