CNN Has stiffed Geraldo!
Now, this is how we expect the more "civilized," more "caring," more "intelligent" folks over at CNN to act, isn't it? The Page 6 column in the New York Post found that CNN has instituted a "a blanket boycott" of anyone from Fox News from appearing on their precious airwaves, even though Fox has had several CNN folks on their shows when those CNNers were flogging their books and side projects. It seems civility is something that CNN just cannot muster these days.
THE folks at Fox News Channel are magnanimous enough to put their rivals from CNN on air, but CNN isn't big enough to return the favor. Geraldo Rivera - who has a new book coming out, "His Panic: Why Americans Fear Hispanics in the U.S." - was booked to appear on Nancy Grace's CNN show on Feb. 28. But then he was disinvited and told CNN had "a blanket boycott" against anyone from Fox. " 'The Most Trusted Name in News' just chickened out," Rivera told Page Six. "This reveals a corporate insecurity." Fox has had on as guests both Wolf Blitzer and Glenn Beck. A CNN rep denied any boycott and blamed a scheduling conflict.
It's bad enough that CNN is so anti-social that they won't return Fox's kindness, but even worse that they went ahead and booked Geraldo and then pulled the rug out from under his invite after all the plans were made!
Insult to injury to Mr. Rivera, for sure.
It shouldn't be shocking that one network would find advertising for members of another network an idea they wouldn't want to warm to, of course. But the whole ridiculous situation of scheduling interviews then ungraciously canceling them at the last minute just reeks of childish, unprofessional behavior. Especially since Fox has occasionally had CNN's folks on in the past to help them flog their books.
Like I said, though. We expect this sort of uncivil behavior from the left. The next thing you know, John Mellenkamp will try to stop John McCain from using his music or something.

February 11, 2008 - 23:57 ET by pbthinkerIf anyone, following the liberals these days, doesn't realize there is a concerted effort to delegitalmize Fox News, just isn't watching what's going on. They don't call CNN, the Clinton News Network for nothing. If Senator Clinton won't debate on Fox, her network won't let Fox people on there to plug a book. The Democrats, and their media wing, have the ability to pull this off, the Republicans, without a media wing, can not. Bottom line: Deal with it.
Democrats: Stuck on Stupid since 2000.

February 12, 2008 - 13:53 ET by danybhoyStrange, now Hillary says she might not go near NBC over the Shuster mess. No network in America loves the Dems like them, even though they are for Obama over Clinton, you know they will fall into line if Hillary is the nominee. You don't see problems like this at Fox, I'm just saying.
I also find it funny that when FoxNewsChannel first started out 11 years ago, good old Ted Turner was asked about this, & said that CNN would crush FNC in short order & realy was'nt too worried about FNC. Ted may not run the ship, but my how things have changed.

How about Fox working a trade?
February 12, 2008 - 00:15 ET by Lame CherryJust so Geraldo Rivera or Jerry Rivers as he is known can be on CNN, can FOX work a sort of NFL trade????
They can have Geraldo for one Glenn Beck and Geraldo's book if FOX gets Kiran Chetry back.
Seems fair as Geraldo hates Americans and since he marrid a Jewish lady he is an expert on all things Jewish now too. He could actually fill in 4 affirmative action spots at CNN so they could hire more asexual white guys like John Roberts.
Geraldo claims:
Hispanic
Jewish
Minority
Mental Retardation (OK he doesn't claim that but CNN would deem him nuts as he wanted to go hunt bin Laden down and shoot him personally.)
Please FOX trade Geraldo, maybe CNN will give more for this loon as he is goofier than Keeter Olberman.

February 12, 2008 - 09:13 ET by danybhoyWhile I'm no fan of Geraldo's politics, I respect his skill as a reporter. Yes, he has a checkered past, but I think he is good for Fox, he is good at what he does(he pisses me off regularly) & the fact that he's on FNC spits into the "Fox is just about Republicans" BS libs/progressives love to claim. Despite his baggage, he damn good at his job.
I love Beck, & I think that he is at CNN-HL is a good thing. It gives him more credibility in my warped mind. Knowing that many who work there think he is evil, is a good thing. BTW, His show is produced by his company & aired on CNN-HL. So I believe he should stay.
As for Kiran Chetry, she is a very hot woman, & I also never want to see her at FNC again. Look into what she tried to do when she was negotiating her new contract at FNC. It was'nt enough she was getting at fat raise, but she wanted FNC to sack Gretchen Carlson so she could have the "Fox & Friends in the Morning" gig. her beauty is only skin deep. She has no respect for those she worked with & did'nt feel she could compete with the former Ms.America. Good riddence to her, if you want to watch her at CNN, knock yourself out.

February 12, 2008 - 01:44 ET by PrairieSkyDoes this really surprise anyone?? The infants over at the Clinton News Network are so completely intimidated by FoxNews's continous shellacking of them in every possible respect, that this is their pathetic way of getting revenge. It's almost funny, in a sad little way, when you think about it.

February 12, 2008 - 01:59 ET by TEJust several weeks ago, Howard Kurtz spent several minutes of his own CNN show "interviewing" (i.e., promoting) Keith Olbermoronn, the host of a leftist freak show on CNN's competitor MSDNC. Kurtz's love fest with Olbermoronn included the comically false claim by Kurtz that Olbermoronn has "popularity". Evidently, being blown away 3.5 to 1 by O'Reilly and routinely finishing fourth out of the four shows on Fox News, Headline News, Clinton News Network and MSDNC, as Olbermoronn does, means to Kurtz that Olbermoronn has "popularity".

Motivation?
February 12, 2008 - 09:02 ET by ThisnThatWhat's CNN's motivation here?
Is it just because they hate or fear Fox News?
Did they do this on principle? Here's a way to test this: see if CNN also bans anyone from Pravda, or Cuba, or Venezuela, or any number of other Communist countries (oops -- I left out Cambridge, MA and Beserkley, CA). See if they welcome these people, and yet continue to bar Fox News. Some principle, eh? Or, even someone from MSNBC who, as we all know, had to suspend one of their people. Does CNN believe MSNBC is more principled than Fox News?
Or, is CNN caving to pressure. We all know they bent over for Saddam. Are they doing the same for Clinton? Or Soros? Or the DNC?
Whatever the case, I'd sure like to know how a well-known network has people sitting in the boardroom saying "Yep, banning Fox News is (a) the right thing to do, and (b) will increase our viewership and standing in the world".

News is not news anymore; objectivity and responsibility are gone. It's a disgrace and is detrimental to America. Unfortunately, Fox is a necessay balance to CNN and the other Pravdas, who are much worse than Fox. Nonetheless, in the end , the citizens are being snookered. And that Geraldo guy; he is a racist. He wants special "favors" for his race which are detrimental to the common good, such as the right to break our laws with impunity.

Okay nuf on the topic. As a "His Panic", I find Geraldo annoying and so too the title of his book (goofy). Hey Geraldo, buy some common sense. Americans don't fear hispanics; they fear the illegality and crime that it perpetuates, starting with breaking our laws to sneak over here.
Despite his surname, Geraldo is still as hard-headed as any elitist. Least he comes across that way. I, unlike Rivera, live amongst the worst effects of illegal immigration. Isn't it easy for him to have the luxury of judging from afar, away from it all.
I don't have to read his book. I've heard enough from his mouth.
