Gov's Aide in Sex Assault on Boy... Democrat or Not?

  • Bookmark and Share

Hello and welcome to today's episode of "Democrat or Not?" Today we have the sordid tale of a "top official" in Governor Deval Patrick's administration in Massachusetts who is accused of sexual misconduct with a minor in Florida. Oh, the story is filled with all sorts of details... well, all the details but one, of course.

Yes, folks, the AP gives us all the "relevant" facts:

A top official in Gov. Deval Patrick's administration is accused of sexually assaulting a boy in the steam room of a Florida resort and has been placed on unpaid leave... Carl Stanley McGee, the assistant secretary for policy and planning, was arrested Dec. 28 after the suspected assault at the Gasparilla Inn and Club in Boca Grande, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

The AP story goes on to tell us that McGee met the boy at a resort at which they were both staying, how he chatted the underaged boy up one day and met him for oral sex in the resort's steam bath facility the next. The AP even lets us all know that McGee "made $115,000 as a state employee," and that he "worked at Boston law firms before joining the administration."

We even get this bit of salacious detail from the AP story:

His marriage to John Finley IV in November 2005 was featured in The New York Times' Vows column.

So, this well-publicized homosexual, state employee gets all his relevant data revealed by the AP in their story. Well... maybe not. You see, there is one little descriptive word that the AP seems to have forgotten in their avalanche of McGee's resume.

And that word is DEMOCRAT.

Yes, I know its shocking, but the AP seems to have forgotten to mention that Carl Stanley McGee is a Democrat.

And so, today's episode of "Democrat or not" leaves us with yet another example of the MSM (and the AP in particular) seemingly unable to bring themselves to mention a public official's party affiliation in a report about his criminal activities when that criminal official happens to be a Democrat.

Thanks for playing AP, and as a lovely parting gift you win a home version of our game. Not that you need it.

Come on, Warner, you know

Come on, Warner, you know the AP's policy regarding political party "relevance": when it's a Republican, it's "relevant" to the story; when it's a Democrat, it's not.

I suppose they deserve a minor pat for mentioning his "marriage." So, not only is he a Democrat soliciting an underage boy, he is a "married" Democrat. (is that adultery?)

Democrats Prefer Boys

What a savage haircut.

Careful Sgt...........

.............he has feelings ya know.................

Good catch, MB

had it been a man married to a woman, definitely adultery!  A little more covering up by AP!!!  Agenda Agenda Agenda  If it doesn't fit "the Agenda" it doesn't get reported!

what do you expect...

what do you expect...

Adultery too?

McGee is a gay rights activist. He married John Finley IV on November 12, 2005. The ceremony was featured in the New York Times “Vows” issue.

Can this marriage be saved?

:-)

Larry Craig, eat your heart out

TCC... ROFLMAO!

TCC...

ROFLMAO!

Don't wanna say he's a

Don't wanna say he's a Democrat and stain an otherwise perfect group of people.

Yawn...and yet another

Yawn...and yet another tedious episode of--sorry to repeat myself--the most overhyped but incessantly reported non-issue cluttering this fine website.

Doing a quick google search on "Governor's Aide in Sex Scandal, the first page of relevant links were articles from: the Austin American Statesman involving a sex scandal in Texas Governor Perry's office which failed to identify him as a Republican; The San Franciso Chronicle reporting on a sex scandal involving the Mayor and prominently noting that he is a Democrat; CBS New.com revealing that Illinois Republican Jack Ryan had ended his candidacy for the U.S, Senate because of a sex scandal; and a New York Times piece on the resignation of James McGreevey--and clearly identifying his party (Democrat) affiliation.

I am sure NB will keep finding and publishing random, anecdotal evidence of this alleged media conspiracy, but, until someone does an exhaustive and objective study of this issue conclusively proving bias, I'll remain unpersuaded.

Jer

Look around you

Now now Jer, lets be fair.  I'll start.  Congratulations on finding four articles that you feel will refute the statements of this Newsbusters entry.  Unfortuntately I think you're not seeing the forest because all of those dadgum trees are in your way.

You said: I am sure NB will keep finding and publishing random, anecdotal evidence of this alleged media conspiracy, but, until someone does an exhaustive and objective study of this issue conclusively proving bias, I'll remain unpersuaded.

What I don't think you understand is that what Newsbusters represents IS an exhaustive study of this issue to prove bias.  Is it objective?  I'm sure you don't think so, that's OK.  As to the "random anecdotal evidence", it's no less so than what you presented.  NB found an article in print, on the web, or on television where bias is injected in order to advance an agenda or hide one.  It then reports on that article to point out said bias.

The issue (albeit not the only one) is that you found four articles to prove your point.  Newsbusters finds dozens on a daily basis to prove theirs.  I don't know how long Newsbusters has been around but the volume of evidence compiled is substantial.  In addition they don't just say "did ya hear what so-and-so said?".  They provide transcripts, video, and links so you can go see for yourself and make up your own mind.  That's not anecdotal, it's referenced.

Do you understand the point I'm trying to make?

When a liberal speaks, the truth is busy elsewhere.

So, Jer, try this!

You did a search for "Governor's Aide in Sex Scandal" and got a big, self serving, yawn. Try this to see if there is a 'difference' in how the two groups are handled by the MSM.

Search #1 Democrat sex scandal - total 190,000

Search #2 Republican sex scandal - total 672,000

Gosh, why the (ginormous) difference???

Hypocrites are more fun to expose???

DFTT,

Yeah, that's the answer. More fun to expose the hypocrites, it sells more news. The self-righteous are the first one's burned at the stake for their 'failings'.

"The biases the media has are much bigger than conservative or liberal.
They're about getting ratings, about making money, about doing stories
that are easy to cover."-Al Franken

Making fun of born-again Christians is like hunting dairy cows with a high powered rifle and scope.-PJ O'Rourke

Yeah, that's the answer.

Yeah, that's the answer. More fun to expose the hypocrites

That's why the liberals have it made. If you don't have any principles, you can't violate them and be called a hypocrite.

As I keep saying, it's a "Journalism 101" issue

If the media would just go to a policy of 100% party identification in these matters, nobody on the left or the right would have any reason to complain. As it is, even if you're actually-right and there's no bias (something I don't believe when it comes to major parties but especially don't-believe when it comes to any scandal-issue & third parties!!) isn't the mere APPEARANCE of media bias playing right into media critics' hands here??

Does anyone here believe if this pervert had been either a Green or a Libertarian the AP would have left that fact out of the story? If so, are you interested in a large parcel of cheap Florida real estate & willing to ignore a bunch of giant "Everglades National Park" signs? Serious question: Can anyone here try to make an argument that this situation is not blatant pro-political-duopoly media bias?
JMR

If this is winning, I think I'd rather lose...

A sunday song...

The sodomites go marching on...hurrah, hurrah....through the AP's darkest night...hurrah, hurrah...

Methinks this is not a political problem...indeed, methinks the homosexual activists are in the chorus.Dem or republican; it matters not.

God, help America.

Deval Patrick - the most crooked governor in Mass history

Deval Patrick and his jolly gay staff get a free pass from the MSM because he's black. If Barack Obama somehow gets elected, expect more of the same.

Not

Just look at this guy, er person, whatever. What else can this thing be besides a Democrat? Nice hair. Perhaps the AP can be excused for the oversight.

Then again, perhaps not!
