Time Magazine has a headline today that screams out "Bush Motorcade Kills Cop." After reading that one, you'd think Bush's limo ran over a policeman or something (I'll say policeman instead of the more vulgar "cop" Time used). Talk about a misleading headline! It turns out that Bush's motorcade didn't "kill" anyone. The unfortunate death occurred when an officer lost control of his motorcycle and died in the wreck. But Time has to turn an unfortunate accident into an accusation that Bush killed a "Cop" with his motorcade! This is Bush Derangement Syndrome at its finest and most ridiculous.
(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) — A police officer in President Bush's motorcade crashed his motorcycle and died Monday, less than a year after a crash in Hawaii killed another motorcycle officer accompanying the president.
And, then there is the bringing up of the other incident as if it is a sure thing that Bush's motorcade is somehow negligent, even as they make no such accusation directly. Quite a deft way to cause doubt in a reader by stealth.
But after the blaring and misleading headline and the first questionable paragraph, we finally get some truth:
The 40-year-old Rio Rancho officer, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, crashed at the Albuquerque airport at a point where a road enters an underground parking garage, said Trish Hoffman, a spokeswoman for the Albuquerque Police Department. He was pronounced dead at an Albuquerque hospital.
Hoffman said the one-vehicle crash is under investigation and "it's way too soon" to pinpoint a cause.
One vehicle! This means the officer simply lost control and the Bush motorcade didn't "kill" anyone!
It's the MSM with their BDS on full display again!

August 28, 2007 - 10:28 ET by Chris NormanAs soon as I heard this yesterday, I knew that this would be the way it'd play out. The MSM has grown so predictable, we could write their stories for them, as parodies, and not stray too far from what's actually written.

MM, you are thinking
August 28, 2007 - 12:49 ET by MikeBMM, you are thinking small. Think BIG. Where were Bush and Rove when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor? The assassination of Franz Ferdinand? Man, that was Cheney having another hunting accident. The San Francisco Earthquake was caused by a design error when the two were tuning their weather machine. Who do you think frightened Mrs. O'Leary's cow into kicking over that lantern? Pompeii, Herculaneum? I heard a rumor that Rove used his time machine and dumped a doodoo load of Fizzies into the top of Mt. Vesuvius. Do you really believe it was an asteroid impact that killed off the dinosaurs? Thou fool! It was Bush and Cheney on a hunting trip. Wake up, MM. Listen to the MSM, and you shall know the truth, and the truth(ers) will set you free.

Actually that's Hickham AFB in that picture, not Albuquerque
August 28, 2007 - 13:13 ET by terrigWhat a shock that the MSM used this tragedy to further their own mental issues. If that's the picture Time is running, then they're really stupid because that is the picture of last years crash out at Hickham AFB, where one of the Honolulu PD motorcycle officers was injured when he skidded on the wet pavement and died a few days later.
It's really a sad society we live in where an unfortunate accident becomes the fault of the President.
*ATTENTION NB MASTHEADS*
August 28, 2007 - 14:38 ET by Six String SpiffIf what Terrig says is true, and looks to be, then that is despicable behavior on top of what TIME has already done. THis is a story in and of itself!
What? Couldn't get a 'good enough' (if it bleeds it leads) picture, so you had too drag up another unfortunate situation and smear that all over you front pages. You people are ill, and worthy of numerous beatings.

Time magazine kills credibility.
August 28, 2007 - 13:34 ET by superconThe open unrestrained hostility that the old media shows the President is a new low even for them. The title of the article is clearly meant to be inflammatory and was an attempt to smear the President. They tried to imply that the President's motorcade ran down a policeman and kept right on driving. They did it on purpose because they think it's funny to insult the President in print. The really sad thing at Time Magazine is that no one else working there thought any different. When it comes to politics they show no more professionalism or responsibility than a high school newspaper ...and they wonder why they're losing readers.

I am a retired "Cop". To me
August 28, 2007 - 14:11 ET by ahusserI am a retired "Cop". To me "Cop" is offensive and a perjorative term. The media constantly uses that word rather than Officer, or Deputy, or Trooper, or Policeman(woman), or Police officer. I have also been on Presidential details, Secret Service Officers have related the basic "Cop" hating reality of the Democrats when they were/are in office. One anecdote I heard from a Secret Service Officer was then VP Al Gore with his son in the VP limo, they were discussing his sons poor grades in school. Al said that if his grades didn't improve that he (his son) would end up like him (Al Gore pointing to one of his Secret Service protectors). Escorting a Presidential motorcade is very dangerous. It is the Secret Service which dictate the pace of the motorcade and it is fast, inherently dangerous to many of the escort vehicles especially the Motor Officers.

And no more Grey Lady -- it will always, now, be referred to as THE New York Times. Same applies toWaPo.
