MSM Forgets That Republicans Remember King

In a moment that can only be described as journalistic amnesia, the NYT forgets to mention that Republican candidates remember Dr. King.

The NYT had three stories on the section of their site designated for U.S. news, reporting how the presidential candidates honored Martin Luther King, Jr.

The first story discusses the three Democratic candidates - Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards - and their appearances at various black churches on Sunday. Each candidate makes determined efforts to woo the African-American vote, while mentioning Dr. King.

The second story discusses the three Democratic candidates again, and how they chose to honor Dr. King today at various memorial services.

The three rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination stood together on the steps of the state capitol here on Monday in a brief display of political unity as they remembered the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

So were the Republican presidential candidates even aware of today's holiday honoring Dr. King?

According to the Baltimore Sun, there was plenty of "King talk" today by the Republican candidates. Videos and photos included in the post.

The Republican presidential candidates wove Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. into their stump speeches today, the official federal holiday honoring the civil-rights leader, as they campaigned in Florida.

So what about that third NYT story today about candidates honoring King? It was a lame attempt to mock Governor Mitt Romney by comparing him to a hip-hop artist, while he was visiting a Martin Luther King Day parade.

I have a dream that one day the NYT will give unbiased coverage to Republican candidates.

King

The King holiday is only for "liberals", don't ya' know. BTW, throughout this campaign you will see Dems making politcal speeches in black churches. I guess we'll have to temporarily suspend our "belief" in the separation of church and state. How convenient for them.

NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal"

They don't cover

They don't cover Republicans because they know they don't really "mean" it and don't really "respect" Rev. King.

BTW, I saw a clip of HRC speaking in one of those churches today, and she slipped into that "singsong" style of speaking that she only uses when she addresses black audiences. Then she must have realized what she was doing, because she backed off....LOL

hahahahah, gotta find that

hahahahah, gotta find that one on the net!!

and of course no one in

the msm would dare to report on this practice!  If I were black, I'd be offended by her obvious pandering!

and don't you know

we won't hear ONE word about it in the msm!  Now, if that had been a Republican speaking politics in a church........look out!

Right!

Right! The Democrats would cry foul and want the IRS to shut the church down as they have before.

As far as the NYT articles, tyhis is the liberal mind set of fair and balanced.

  Did these dem

Did these dem candidates apologize?  I bet that there was no mention of the fact that MLK was persecuted by the southern segregationist democrats.  Even the Kennedy Whitehouse had him under surveillance.  When will that seditious, segregationist, white supremacy party ever apologize for its shameful past?

I bet MLK was very happy

I bet MLK was very happy with this Democrat, who has been elected to his Senate seat 9 times, since 1959.

...Robert C. Byrd joined with other Southern and border state Democrats to filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964, personally filibustering the bill for 14 hours.

...Byrd has been a member of the Senate Democratic leadership since 1967, when he was elected as secretary of the Senate Democratic Conference (caucus). He became Senate Majority Whip, or the second-ranking Democrat, in 1971. From 1977 to 1989 Byrd was the leader of the Senate Democrats, serving as Senate Majority Leader from 1977 to 1981 and 1987 to 1989 and as Senate Minority Leader from 1981 to 1987.

And which Republican

And which Republican candidate has the balls to say all of that? Because John Q. Public sure as hell doesn't know it! And the MSM sure ain't gonna tell 'em!

The reality

The reality is no one seems to face the fact that "minorities" in this nation have nothing to do with reality where the New York Times is concerned nor liberals. Minorities are nothing more than money or power in the bank to be exploited.

Want the grand facts? These New York power brokers have been the ruling powers for European elitists for centuries. In 1600 to 1700 it was the eastern Indians who gave away their produce for trinkets making fortunes for Europeans and American "bankers" to drive the rum, sugar, tobacco and slave trade.
The year 1765 saw the eastern American colonies abandon the people of the Ohio to genocide carried out by Indian empires, English, French and Spanish empires. Read Theodore Roosevelt's Winning of the West.

These same cartel mafia plundered the American west of gold and buffalo arming Indians who butchered Custer.

To jump into the future of today, you have the same "minorities" having their votes purchased with working people's money in welfare to the importation of slave labor again in border busters all for the benefit of the liberal power elite and robber barons.
This is international criminal front has well known patsies like Saddam with Marc Rich as the money launderer. Bill Clinton gets 50 million in bribes in Swiss Banks and has to waste the next 5 years globe hopping paying himself or others covering the payment so he can get his hands on his bribe money and not be IRS caught.

The Times creates the story of it's own perpetual minority grip on power. It uses blacks as plantation voters. It uses the Mexican as the hacienda laborers and it rips billions from the United States working citizen to police it's global hold on power.

The Republican you are Ms. Lee is not the Republican who whores in the halls of Congress for this same elitist ilk. This cartel places our "Conservative" leaders in talking head positions........they have Rush Limbaugh stating their propaganda about ethanol is more expensive than gas to Michele Malkin ignoring the very information on Plamegate they all do.

Hey when you have to make a million dollar living, like Jackie Gleason said long ago, "CBS sucks you in giving you that grand lifestyle and hooks you.......so in the end you are doing exactly what CBS wants and you don't".

I don't remember Martin King as I detest from my historical reading the weak person he was. I do though remember those black kids he used in Selma who were beaten and chewed on by dogs.
All of this is sham though by the Times to keep the race wars going, so no one really starts looking at the lengthy history of the Times family of bankers and power brokers and how they have been enslaving minorities and butchering the majority white now thinning population.

It would be so nice to peek into the Times bank accounts for the past centuries in their family backers. That is the real memory to be looked into.

A Republican united the

A Republican united the country and freed the slaves... Abraham Lincoln.

A Republican signed the MLK holiday into law... Ronald Reagan.

A democrat fought against everything MLK believed in.. George Wallace.

A democrat is the only former KKK member to occupy a place in congress... Robert Byrd.

Obviously only democrats care about African-Americans.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

And which Republican

And which Republican candidate has the balls to say all of that? Because John Q. Public sure as hell doesn't know it! And the MSM sure ain't gonna tell 'em!

Democrats, Republicans and race

Jerry...as long as you're listing race-beneficient Republicans, you may as well add Earl Warren, Republican Chief Justice of the Supreme Court who decided the landmark school desegration case of Brown vs. Board of Education.

Of course, you would need to mention that he was consequently reviled as a "liberal" throughout the South by conservatives who demanded his impeachment.

Also...

--modify your praise of Lincoln to include his beliefs in the inferiority of blacks and the political pressure to free the slaves applied by the northeastern radical Republicans--the predecessors of the modern liberal/moderate wing of the Republican party

--acknowledge that Strom Thurmand bolted the national Democratic Party in 1948 and formed the Dixiecrats [primarily comprised of southern conservatives who opposed Truman's "liberalism" in matters of race, such as desegregating the military].  He of course later became a Republican, as did many former southern conservative Democrats.

--note that George Wallace, a staunch conservative, resisted integration, stood in the school house door, and proclaimed his segregationist beliefs "now and forever"...all the while railing against the "liberal" Supreme Court for promoting integration

There were many Democrats, Republicans, independents and others of various political affiliations who resisted integration and civil rights legislation.  But the overwhelming majority of those who did were social conservatives, while most who supported civil rights were liberals.  Inasmuch as the present-day Democratic party is viewed as "liberal", and the Republican party "conservative", it's no great mystery why most African-Americans currently vote for Democrats.

Because they are treated

Because they are treated per the mushroom theory by the MSM, so in reality they know no different.  They are being kept on the plantation and being told it is in their best interest.  Just the way the GOP race is being covered.  The bias stinks in the MSM and the shrooms love it.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

 Yes, democrats were

Yes, democrats were "really" republicans and republicans were "really" democrats whenever it suits your argument.  I get it.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq  to derail the impeachment vote:  “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

Interestingly...

One of the major conservatives of the day, Barry Goldwater, voted against the 1964 civil rights act.

And if you look at my post below, votes against it weren't based on party affiliation but geography. There were a couple of exceptions on both sides. Note that in the senate only one northern democrat (Byrd) opposed it, compared to five northern republicans.

A higher percentage of

A higher percentage of republicans voted FOR the civil rights act than did democrats, including Al Gore's father, which for some reason never became a campaign issue.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

True...

But that doesn't change the fact that not a single southern republican voted for it.

That's why Jer and I are saying that it wasn't about party affiliation.

Northeners were for the act, southeners weren't. The issue cut across party lines.

Well...obviously you don't

Well...obviously you don't "get it", Jerry, but I bet you could if you really tried.

Jer

Yes, and a democrat

Yes, and a democrat president did more to condemn an entire race to a lifetime of poverty than even Byrd's KKK could have dreamed of doing by enacting the "liberal" welfare system where "we'll give you money if you drop out of school and start having babies without getting married". Done expressly for the purpose of buying votes, or as I heard it expressed on the Johnson tapes, "We'll have those n----rs voting democrat for the rest of their lives". But I guess Johnson was one of those "really a republican" fellows too.

When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).

If you haven't seen this

If you haven't seen this video of Slick Willy at the Martin Luther King memorial, do yourself a favor and check it out. It's hilarious!

http://www.breitbart...

tooooooooooo funny!

even changing hands to rest his head didn't do the trick ;-)

and did you notice when he snuck a peek at his watch as if to say is this guy ever going to quit talking?

I was hoping this came up

I guess ol Slick Willy has a dream, too.

I have a dream..

I have a dream that the NYT folds... and I don't mean at the crease...I have a dream that people from any race can sit together and enjoy each other's company and where ethnic jokes can be tossed about without provocation.  I was recently at a business meeting where that was the case.I also have a dream where MLK wasn’t being deified.  Near the end of his life he embraced communism and other ‘isms.

Also… if MLK day is a true federal holiday, why do some companies only let part of the work force take the holiday with pay?

Dream, dream, dream…

You know it's no wonder that

You know it's no wonder that the media portrays conservatives as racists. Here was a perfect opportunity for this lying bag of crap to just be a damned human being but nooooo..he has to turn into a patronizing Archie Bunkeresque piece of refuse..

Here's Mitt's imitation of Hillary's "negro speak".

Mitt Romney dropped by a staging area for a Martin Luther King Day parade in Jacksonville, Fla. In posing for a picture with several black young people, he said, “Who let the dogs out?” and proceeded to woof, not exactly a la the Baha Men.

As if he didn't make a big enough fool of himself with that one, he followed it up with this....

Mr. Romney later remarked to a baby, “Oh, you’ve got some bling-bling here.”

So while complaining that the biggest failure in the country is the failure of the inner city schools, this idiot promptly turns every black person he sees into a STUPID RAPPER!  Note to this racist CORKSOAKER ( say it fast and you'll get it), black people use words like JEWERY too! The idiots in our community are the ones on MTV that you are likening us to. But what else can we expect from the product of a racist cult that only let blacks into heaven in 1978!

My God, "who let the dogs out" to cub scouts too young to know what the hell he's talking about and "bling-bling" to a baby.  Lord help us.

I just watched the DemoNcratic debate and you people are SCREWED. If you don't have a candidate that can portray the desire to kill kids and commit anal crimes  on men as EVIL, not misguided or "another way to go" but EVIL , you might as well bend over and kiss your asses goodbye! The dems come across as COMPASSIONATE people! If I didn't know the misery they intend to loose upon this world, I myself might have been fooled. And make no mistake about it my friends, most people DON'T KNOW. I just came back from a teaching tour of Memphis and New York and most people don't even know what party supports WHAT! I asked a group of people, "which party is trying to eliminate God from the public square" and they couldn't tell me.  Same thing for , "Who supports increased rights for homosexuals?", clueless as the day is long! And that's most voters people.  You policy wonks think that everybody gets their coffee with Drudge! Not so.

And the Republican party, by flocking to lying position switchers like Romney, who felt that killing babies was okay yesterday, or worse, the unrepentant child killers like Guiliani,  won't have the moral standing to enlighten anyone. So in the end you just hope America loves tax cuts and hates illegals as much as you do. Not much to run on there, mate! So you've already lost, because you sure as shootin' can't "out nice" a liberal and you people seem to lack the moral fiber to make a stand. If it wasn't so danged sad, it'd be funny.

Kieth, its politics and it

Kieth, its politics and it wont change in our lifetimes. In fact politics has been going on since Adam blamed Eve for his sin. The only thing we can do is pray and choose a canditate who might bemost aligned with our values. Fred seemed a good choice but did not seem to get out of the gate. None of the Dims look like they support me values and the GOP looks poor also.

I guess we will choose an imperfect human beig to lead us on the earth.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

Keith,

your first sentence branded you and the rest of your rant confirmed your right leg is longer than the other.

First.  support your claims.  That is what the contributers to NB do.  Link to total sources, not to sound bites.

Second.  Don't call people names.  We don't.

Third.  I don't read "nice" in anything you say.  As impassioned as Michael Savage is I believe he is right in that "Liberalism" is a mental disorder.  Open your mind and get some help.

I'll be praying for you.

Is your browser broken?

There is a link right there in the NB article with a link to the video from Fox news. What else do you want?

I believe he is right in that "Liberalism" is a mental disorder.  Open your mind and get some help.

That is the funniest non-sequitur I've seen in a while. I noticed that you did not bother to actually refute anything that Keith said. If you disagree strongly enough surely you can give us your reasoning.

There has been no shortage of conservative commenters on this site blasting Romney for being the pandering opportunist that he is. That strategy isn't just reserved for liberals.

Dude, are you insane? I'm

To David N ,

Dude, are you insane? I'm easily the most conservative person on this blog, has anyone else told you that you're in all likelihood not baptized properly and that you need to be baptized in Jesus' Name ONLY? Or that the only way to receive the Holy Ghost is by speaking in tongues like everyone in the bible who received it? OR that abortion is BABY KILLING which is the ONLY way I refer to it? Or that homosexuals are SODOMITES deserving NO RIGHTS whatsoever for their filthy lifestyles? Dude, buy a vowel and get a freakin' CLUE! If you'll actually READ what I wrote you'll see that my angst with Romney is that he LIES ABOUT ALL OF HIS CONSERVATIVE POSITIONS, which he doesn't REALLY EMBRACE. Dude, reading is fundamental. Pray for yourself that you get saved the bible way, I already have. But thanks.

Keith,

I re-read your post and very sheepishly apologize.  It was not at all a rant I thought.  I hope my insanity was only temporary.

Sincerely,

David

Abe Lincoln

After watching the MSM I have to wonder. WasAbe Lincoln a progressive Democrat?    Thats what I'd think if I were a High School student today and relied on the news media.

I certainly would not know that opposition to the Voting Rights act came from Southern Democrats, not Republicans.

Actually...

Southern republicans didnt vote for it either...

By party and region

Note : "Southern", as used in this section, refers to members of Congress from the eleven states that made up the Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. "Northern" refers to members from the other 39 states, regardless of the geographic location of those states.

The original House version:

  • Southern Democrats: 7-87   (7%-93%)
  • Southern Republicans: 0-10   (0%-100%)
  • Northern Democrats: 145-9   (94%-6%)
  • Northern Republicans: 138-24   (85%-15%)

The Senate version:

The fact was that southerners period were against the act, regardless of party affiliation.
