Daily Kos Week in Review: Ten Years After
Think back a decade, to eight and a half months after 9/11, to those "dark days when an oppressive and war-crazed administration suppressed all dissent as unpatriotic and treasonous." OK, that's not how conservatives remember the America of that spring, but it's how Markos Moulitsas felt, and that feeling led him, on May 26, 2002, to start Daily Kos.
The big anniversary notwithstanding, this past week some Kossacks sounded pessimistic regarding not only the fall elections but also the effort to recall Scott Walker. As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.
CitizenKane: The GOP has won before anyone votes
...No matter what happens in november, this is the election that we have lost. Half of our population has become puppets of corporate greed and contrived ignorance...[T]his was never a short term battle for the WH or control of the senate. It has always been about winning on the ground. Getting good and hard working Americans to turn off their brains and to follow blindly. Getting old white bigots to act upon the worst of their natures and call it freedom...
Luhks: Plutocracy is in effect
...In Wisconsin right now, we're starting to see how a true post-Citizens United election environment operates. Walker, based on his record, should be trailing by around 20 points. But, when you can purchase the media, when you can drown the opposition in a sea of corporate cash, his record disappears. Walker will win by around 10 points...Make no mistake, that 2012 election was decided two years earlier by five men in black robes...
We will never see another Democratic president in our lifetimes after Obama. We will never see another Democratic majority in either house of Congress in any of our lifetimes. We will never see a Democratic majority on the Supreme Court for centuries. The robber barons will decide which puppets to install...
MinistryOfTruth: Walker is the first domino
...If Scott Walker [wins] the recall election it will embolden every Corporatist politician in America to kick the effort to repeal the 20th century into overdrive...Walker is the new prototype Citizens United Koch fueled corporatist overlord that is being unveiled across the USA, a bullshit driven hatchet-man for the billionaires who takes bribes, breaks laws and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wall Street...
GreenMother: Republicans are increasingly theological...
...The weird mixture of anti-intellectualism with misogyny has been painfully apparent to me, for the past 20 years...
The same mentality that is behind anti-evolution is deeply entwined with the negative campaign against women's sovereignty...
My observations have been, that over the years, since this radical takeover by wingnuts has progressed, that more and more of our legislation harkens back to how many angels dance on the head of a pin, rather than actually, solving real world problems that exist here and now...
LunkHead: ...and their religion is Reaganism
OK, it ain't actually the Holy Prepuce, it's the actual blood of Ronald Reagan:
A vial that reportedly contains blood drawn from President Reagan on the day he was shot in 1981 will not be auctioned off to the highest bidder after all...
The bidding reached in excess of 35 Grand...
While I do think that Republicans have been eager to send society backwards from modernity, I am stunned that they appear to want to go back to before the age of enlightenment.

"Walker, based on his record, should be trailing by around 20 points."
My, that's generous by Daily Kos standards. Usually it would be "Walker, based on his record, should be tarred and feathered."

Are these the same people who predicted that Bush would declare martial law in 2004 before the November election and there would be no more free elections in this country?
The same people who predicted that FEMA was being used by Bush to build concentration camps for those who would be rounded up and silenced?
Do they now allow Internet access in mental institutions?
According to Luhks

Purchas[ing] the media: Bad
Having the media willingly "drown the opposition" for free: Good
Floods of corporate money: Evil
Floods of Union money: Virtuous

What's funny is that Wisconsin's major newspapers and TV stations are liberal-establishment like the rest.
BUT it is true the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel editorialized that while they opposed Walker's union bill, the recall is bad for democracy.
According to the whacky-left-blogs...

Republicans are stupid, anti-science, incurious troglodytes...that is until they win elections when they suddenly become omnipotent conspiracists unparalleled in the political theater.
Funny that paradox, right?

Ministry of Truth (that idiot wearing the civil war hat to hide the point on his head) loves to rail on and on about "corporatists" in politics and complain that money is buying elections. Did he think the country did not notice after 3 1/2 years of the most incompetent president since Carter was bought and paid for by Soros and other liberal moneybags?
As for the rest of them, I am enjoying watching them go through Kubler-Ross' five stages of grief. They are at various phases, but still relatively early: anger that "their" president turned out to be a turd; denial that there is anything even wrong; bargaining that things will somehow instantly turn around with the "right" attacks; and we are seeing the first depression that Romney is staying focused on the economy while their Ogasm is deflecting, dissembling and outright lying in a blatantly obvious attempt to focus on anything but his failed record. Whether they will ever reach the final state of "acceptance" remains doubtful. This is the same crowd that insists that Gore won in 2000 and Ohio was stolen by Diebold machines in 2004 and the press is controlled by conservatives. With them being that delusional, "acceptance" will likely never be met. Accepting the blame for the failure of their message and candidates is something that liberals singularly lack the maturity to do.
well... I wonder if any of them..

have walked back their bold declarations that Bush would declare Martial law and be president for life yet?
no?.... not even a mention?
The kos-sicks have never been anything but hysterical scolds of lefty virtue and conservatives being minions of Satan. For folks typing furiously from Mom's basement and the confines of a suburban kitchen.. they sure have an end of the world mind set. I would bet good money most of their bloggers are being treated for various mental disorders.
Obama is the worst most radical left wing president this country has ever had the misfortune to be taken in by.
The kos-sicks never get why they loose.. They use politics not to make their lives better.. but to ruin their enemies.. destroy their lives.. harass their families.. and they can't understand.. that nobody else even thinks about using politics as a weapon of retribution against people for thinking forbidden thoughts like they do. Craven little vindictive toads that they are.. they can't see they don't live rent free in our heads as we do in theirs. We don't spend our time plotting their demise.. in fact if they actually had a happy life.. they wouldn't be bitter leftist hacks.. wouldn't be kos writers..
they'd be too busy leading a productive life instead of dealing in hate like they do.. they might even have a civil conversation with us instead of screaming at us.
Ah yes, the Daily Kos...

One of the two main butt cheeks that the extreme left sits back upon daily. The other, of course, being DU. Shrieking moonbattery at it's finest.

They haven't lost the election yet but boy are they CYA.
There might not ever be another democratic president elected after obama, because we might not have any more elections.
