Daily Kos Week in Review: Romney Not Just Whistling 'Dixie'
Mitt Romney has ties to quite a few states -- most notably Michigan, Massachusetts, and Utah -- none of which was on the Southern side in the Civil War. That didn't stop one Kossack from declaring that Romney's worldview is "a lie and an abomination" that would render him suitable for the presidency of the Confederate States of America.
As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.
Troubadour: Romney's American dream is sociopathic
This [presidential] election is shaping into...[a] contrast not merely of talents, personalities, and agendas, but of two fundamentally different and incompatible versions of the American Dream...One of these Dreams seeks to extend the opportunities that made it possible to all Americans, the other to burn the bridges behind it so that none may follow...
...Romney's version of the American Dream [is] a dream not of excellence, innovation, or creativity, but of advantage gained through predatory cunning, and wanton sacrifice of America's legacy for a quick personal cash infusion. His is the dream sold to this country by ciphers and sociopaths from Ronald Reagan onward: The one-dimensional, hollow compulsion to acquire at other people's expense what you lack the talent and passion to create for yourself...
...Romney and those in his tax bracket who subscribe to his politics want to enjoy all of the benefits of this nation and give back nothing whatsoever. They believe it is the natural order of things that some few (themselves, of course) exist solely to enjoy the fruits of society, while it is the lot of everyone else to provide them.
Maybe that would have been the American Dream if the Confederacy had won the Civil War, but in this world, in this country, Romney's picture of this nation and its values is a lie and an abomination...
LiberalCanuck: Whom will Mitt kill?
...The graveyards of the world are filled with the victims of American hubris; usually so the man in the White House would appear “tough” in the American media and to the American voter...
When [Americans] get it wrong, people die...
Please consider this simple question when considering on whether to vote and who to vote for in November; how many people are alive right now but who won't be by 2016 because Mit Romney was President?...
jg6544: The GOP's 2010 success was like a shipwreck
...[T]he [Republican] party had distilled itself down to a fairly isolated community of true believers even before the teabagger wins of 2010. The party was in a position like that of the Titanic as the bow dropped under the water and the stern rose. The teabagger wins were like the breakup of the ship when the stress on the hull became more than the hull could bear. We all know what happened next...
MinistryOfTruth: A pox on Fox
...[W]atching Fox News is like eating a pink slime burger for you[r] brain...
...Fox News is single-handedly ruining the discourse in our country...[T]hey are no more than a pack of cowardly mercenaries who are strip mining our country, bleeding us as part of the vampire squid...
...[T]he Fox News watching Conservatives who trust no other news source are the dumbest fucking people in America...
puakev: Obama's 'girlfriend' letters are devastating to right-wingers
...Obama's here discussing T.S. Eliot with a firm grasp and understanding of the material, so I'm fairly sure his reading and writing levels are far above that of the average Obama-hatin' birther teabagger, who would probably have a hard time comprehending works by R.L. Stine (or the menu at Denny's for that matter) let alone T.S. Eliot...

I think these people would like Romney if they looked at his record. He's pretty liberal.
If you want a liberal, why would you vote for Mr. Half-Measures

If you want a liberal, you would vote for President Obama who has demonstrated his liberalism far better than Mr. Romney.
Republicans cannot win by trying to out-liberal Democrats. That is like trying to out-squeal a pig.

Nothing any of them have said adds anything intelligent to the national discourse on our problems. It is all hate filled with no facts and a lot what they believe to be true. In terms even they can understand it is all BS.
I have lived in the south all my life. It was Democrats that formed the Klan. It was Democrats that caused the problems with segregation. It is Deomcrats that are still keeping blacks down. Those are facts not some emotional half baked belief.

HAHA. Yes, Mr. Romney was so talent-less that, rather than go to college and get a Master's degree in Minority Women's Studies with an emphasis Urban Existence, he decided to waste his time in business and create jobs and amass a personal fortune. Rather, he could have gotten a degree that would have afforded him a cushy job with all the perks that come with being an associate professor for an online, overseas community college, but alas, he didn't have the talent to do so. HAHA

Obama evidently didn't do anything before he got it, either.
Wonder what Eliot would think of that?

Not to mention Trouserbater's use of florid language is narcissistic. Spin your sociopathy and narcissism together, Trouserbater, and please tell this psychiatrist what the relationship of the really is. You will get it wrong. Sociopaths are not concerned with the feelings of others, therefore your entire thesis is rendered inert, incomplete and idiotic. TB said "...for people like him...", involving the emotions and feelings of others. Sociopaths are self-focused and don't care about the emotions of others. Your consolation prize is the label of "Kos Moron of the Week".
As for Liberal Canuck, does the inept Doug McKenzie wannabe know that the use of unmanned drones for assassinations of terrorist leaders has increased sharply under Obama? The times the Bush administration used unmanned drones, unbrained drones like Dougie McCanuckie were whining and moaning that the deaths were carried out without court orders or trials? My how quickly the hypocrisy appears when supporting the Narcissist in Chief. And by the way, Dougie McCanuckie--if you don't live here and you don't vote here, shut the hell up because it is not YOUR country. Argue with your parliament, okay?
The rest is just pure drivel. Bringing TS Eliot into a conversation? Who cares? TS Eliot is the poet of choice of every liberal pseudointellectual, even though Thomas Stearns Eliot was a conservative Royalist who openly supported Churchill and all of the Tories in the UK parliamentary elections. So much for puakev, the intellectual mountebank and the inhuman political never-was.

Huh. Obama can discuss T.S. Eliot while the average Tea Partier can't? Just speaking personally, I grew up preferring classic literature. Dickens, Conrad, Dostoevsky, Verne, George Eliot, et. al. I can't imagine the average Obama-supporter reading even a short list of those authors. For one, these works are full of conservative ideals. For another, they do tend to impart a sense of history and also encourage deep thinking and the importance of making right, sound judgements. These books might actually have played a role in my turning from Liberalism and to Conservatism.
Here's a classic work I'd love to hear an Obama-supporter discuss: The Federalist Papers. I wonder how many Obama-supporters understand that work?

Progressives seem to be completely averse to facts and logic. Apparently, reality has a conservative bias.
