Daily Kos Week in Review: The Anti-Rainbow Coalition

By Tom Johnson | March 31, 2012 | 07:01

A  A

Kossacks seldom tire of declaring conservatives' alleged hatred of minority groups, and are especially energetic about doing so in the wake of racial incidents such as the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin. This past week, one even dared to assert that the right believes it's "a-okay to murder black children."

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym. Daily Kos Week in Review will return in two weeks. Happy Easter!

MinistryOfTruth: Conservatives dread America's multicultural future...

...[P]aranoid assholes with guns who think black people are trying to take their stuff make up the majority of the GOP base...

...[T]the rainbow is coming for you, Conservatives, a generation of people who don't hate gay people, black people, women and every one else you love to demonize, and none of them will ever vote Republican again because they have seen you govern under Bush and FAIL miserably at it, and they've watched you attack their friends for far too long. The Reagan Revolution is OVER, done, kaput. Ronald Reagan is dead, he was a shitty President who used race-baiting speeches in Philadelphia, Mississippi to get elected and now he is dead and his revolution is over. The next generation fucking hates Dick Cheney and loves Eminem, they think Fox News is a total joke and gay marriage should be allowed, and if the Republican party were to collapse tomorrow in a Santorum-scented, Brooks Brother's tailored implosion of its' own ego driven hubris the next generation will be dancing in the streets to celebrate...

OllieGarkey: ...and not only endorse the killing of Trayvon...

...Believing that it is wrong to stalk, chase, and murder a child is not a sign of liberal bias...

I don't understand why conservatives even want to have this discussion! I don't understand why they want to be the party that is okay with stalking and murdering black children!...

The right wing wants to ban prophylactics and is saying, publicly, that it's a-okay to murder black children.

Is this the 50's again or something?

LeftHandedMan: ...but are more lethal than al-Qaeda

...The last thirty-plus years have been dominated by the rise of Movement Conservatism.

What are the hallmarks of this era? Besides absolute fealty to the rich and the powerful?

...[A] deliberately castrated corporate news media...A pervasive beltway mentality where it is a bigger outrage to truthfully call somebody who is blatantly lying a liar that it is for that person blatantly lying to lie. Calvinist Austerity...Civil rights rollbacks. Civil liberties rollbacks. A war on women, the poor, the non-white, the gay, the middle class, the eldery [sic]...

Movement Conservatism will kill more innocent Americans than Al-Qaida ever will...

Liberal Protestant: The GOP is in a bind

...The Republicans have set themselves on a course where the only prescription for maintaining any semblance of political power is to strangle the middle class and confuse the increasingly downtrodden masses with bread and circuses, and fear of hoodies and condoms...

LaughingPlanet: Ignorant righties inspire violent thoughts

...[W]hen scientists who win the Nobel Prize tell them we better wake the fuck up and fight climate change? Umm...I think I should get a second opinion.

This type of news makes me want to walk into a Walmart and start randomly shaking and slapping people.

Or maybe scientists should start trying to invent a Wake-The-Fuck-Up ray with which we can zap willfully ignorant Republicans...

Courtesy of Patrick Buchanan’s “Suicide of a Superpower” come the FBI’s crime figures for 2007: “Blacks committed 433,934 violent crimes against whites, eight times as many as the 55,685 that whites committed against blacks. Interracial rape is almost exclusively black-on-white, with 14,000 assaults on white women by African-American males in 2007. Not one case of white sexual assault on a black female was found in the FBI study.” (Page 243)

Will this be reported by MSNBC?

Non, je ne regrette rien. "You aren't angry because I might be a racist, you're angry because you know I'm right".

Well gosh, it's obvious!

Submitted by DontFeedTheTrolls on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 8:47am.

There are actually more assaults on black women by whites. This is a fact. You see, black women know if they are raped and they call the police (i.e. 'The Man') that a white man will show up and rape them again, so they never report the crime.

Thank you.

Hey Lam...(sorry, may I call you Lam?) Hey Lam, for the benefit of us out here who aren't as intellectually towering and who are not bilingual (for some reason we have never figured out,) why don't you add the translation for your quote? You know, maybe down underneath it, in smaller font. I guess I could go to a website or two and do it for myself but I'm just too lazy today. I spent all night last night trying to figure out why a cannonball and a feather, when dropped simultaneously from the top of the Learning Tower of Pizza, will not hit the ground at the same time. Gracias, amigo.

The Daily Kos: Anti-Rainbow Coalition

Submitted by Netstatter on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 9:36am.

The Daily Kos is hardly a place where people have free speech. Just get an account there and then (with courtesy and logic) post comments exhibiting a moderate and common-sense position. I did, twice. Each time my account got nixed within about a month. At The Daily Kos, you either drink the koolaid or get shut out. Given that, it is hardly the place to go to for any kind of balanced commentary at all.

The minions at The Daily Kos go through life with blinders on. To paraphrase Captain Kirk: "There are no open or logically thinking minds here".

This week's selection is just another flavor of schizophrenic.

Submitted by drsamherman on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 10:07am.

MinistryofTruth is at the crack pipe again, with his temper tantrum over historical Republican figures. Somebody ought to tell him that Obama's sycophants have used comparisons of him to Reagan--so by MoT's analysis, that makes Obama every bit the terrible President he claims Reagan to be. See how logic works, Minnie? Too bad your dissociated little sensorium will never allow you to see it clearly. Guess the auditory hallucinations are getting worse, eh?

OllieGarkey - did your mama drop you on your head when you were a baby? Repeatedly?

LeftHandedLiberal - you know where the right hand is, but I digress. Single issue OCD'er with a paranoid personality disorder, LHL sees only those facts supporting his obsession, which is by nature a fixed, false belief. In other words, he has a parallel reality that he supports with any statement or shred of evidence to support his own pre-drawn conclusions. Yawn. Garden-variety OCD that could use a heavy dose Zoloft plus low/moderate dose Seroquel to pick up the paranoiac features.

LaughingPlanet - environmental OCD, pure and simple. Mentions Nobel prize winners who support global warming. Which scientists and in what discipline? Perhaps he was referring to the discredited IPCC and the political hacks who were awarded the Peace Prize, a non-scientific lustfest of liberal politics. None of the major scientific prize winners in the past three years had anything like climate research cited as the reason for receiving the award according to the official website. These scientists may have personal opinions about AGW, but those opinions are no more valid than the bagboy at the supermarket. So much for LP's idiotic misuse of "Nobel prize" scientists to prove anything.

Yes!

Submitted by Netstatter on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 11:30am.

This is a pretty good post. Additionally, I remember that Time magazine tried to compare Obama favorably with Lincoln (that cover had Obama with Lincoln's shadow behind him). Now remember, Lincoln was a Republican.

Also, did we ever get a sensible reason from the Nobel Prize committee why Obama was awarded the Peace Prize? What did they say - something along the lines of what Obama could do? Look at the other prizes that were overtly awarded based on politics. Whatever happened to high standards among the Nobel Prize Committee?

Good post, drsamherman.

To LaughingPlanet, I would

Submitted by ant on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 12:13pm.

To LaughingPlanet, I would ask the same question Lord Monckton asked of Britain's ruling Party when they announced they would need a billion dollars to fight global warming, "How much global warming will a billion dollars stop?' He, of course, received no reply.

My now-usual question: WHY even BOTHER with KOS?

Submitted by gopcongress on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 2:45pm.

FIrst of all, KOS is not the news. It is a political site. You may as well have a column on Democratic Underground, MoveOn.org, the New Black Panther Party, or any of the other silly websites that exist for one thing: the destruction of our country as it was founded.

Obviously, the mainstream media is not unbiased by any stretch of the imagination. But the DIFFERENCE is that they portray themselves as unbiased sources. KOS does no such thing; it is strictly partisan.

I don't mean to be picky, but frankly, I couldn't give a rats what KOS writes about. It is not newsworthy, and UNLESS you preface the column as satire, is not consistent with your mission.
