Daily Kos Week in Review: Here Come the Grandma-Hating Cavemen

In politics as in war, it's a good idea to know your enemy. At Daily Kos, the primary enemies are Republicans, but based on what Kossacks wrote this past week about GOPers, you really can't say they understand them. They spew, rant, and rave about them, even smear them, but "know"...no. Not even close.

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

Jake McIntyre: Republicans are mostly troglodytes...

...[W]hile I still believe that Daniels would have posed a formidable challenge to Obama next November, the Beltway pundits - enamored as they are by any "serious" Republican who isn't a frothing troglodyte on social issues - probably were overstating his chances in a primary process dominated by ... well, frothing troglodytes...

Old Redneck: ...who favor pedophiles over public employees...

Within hours of Tim Pawlenty announcing his candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination, word broke that when he was governor he pardoned and wiped clean the record of a child molester who then went on to molest his own daughter over 250 times...

And that, folks, is the way Republicans work -- fire teachers, reward child molesters.

HamptonRoadsProgressive: ...and give a middle-finger salute to everyone but rich white men

...Republicans these days are openly and with extreme prejudice coming out and basically telling everyone who isn't a white, rich male that they can just drop dead.

Not wealthy? Fuck you.

Not white? Fuck you.

Not straight? Fuck you.

Not Christian? Fuck you. Praise be to God.

Not conservative to the point of blindly walking off a cliff? Double Fuck You

Not a "job creator" (which is code for Rich)? Fuck you...

The Erratic Synapse: They are pro-Israel but anti-black

...I want to talk about what it means when the Prime Minister of Israel is receiving more gracious, bipartisan applause than when President Obama has addressed both houses of Congress...

And then it hit me: Republicans hate Obama so much that they view an Israeli Prime Minister with more legitimacy than their own President. Hate. What I sensed in that glaring disparity between both of their addresses is an undercurrent of genuine hate.

...In 2012, I will do everything I can to ensure that our government is not ensnared by these vessels of racialized hate. Republicans need to be put into political exile. Period...

Jlukes: ...as well as anti-Christian and psychopathic

...The Ryan plan is the reflection of Republican values. Jesus would weep. There are two core values that are evident in this plan. The first is that as a nation the care of the elderly is none of our concern. If for whatever reason Grandma cannot get the health insurance she needs with the voucher plan their answer is "Die Bitch"...

The Republican party is the party of values. The values of a psychopath.

JDWolverton: Ed Schultz was a victim of high standards

...Ed got in trouble when he used a sexual slur to describe Dr. Laura's [sic] political ideology. He was just being the shock jock that he is. He was just throwing red meat to the liberal base. What's the harm in that? In Ed's defense, it's true, it is very tempting to "go there". It's hard to resist the snarky, cheap shot; but we are better than that. I'm sorry Ed gave in to the moment and spouted off a regrettable remark. What's remarkable is that he faces consequences for what he said. No conservative talk show host is held to this high a standard [emphasis added]. Ed's usually a stand up kind of guy, so it is fair to think that this was a momentary lapse of judgment...
