With Anti-Christie Headline, Is It the Weather Channel, or Politics Channel?

New Jersey Governor Christie rebuked a heckler during his visit to the area affected by Superstorm Sandy on Wednesday.

His rebuke is still a major headline item at ... the Weather Channel. The headline ("Gov Loses It During Speech") also makes a claim not supported by the circumstances, or Christie's history of dealng with such critics:

Look at how different the headline at the underlying story is:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Tells Sandy Recovery Critics to 'Sit Down. Shut Up.'

Wednesday, Oct. 29 was the second anniversary of Superstorm Sandy’s landfall on the U.S.

The storm dealt a devastating blow to parts of the Northeast coast, and the evidence showed -- particularly in New Jersey. As The New York Times writes, some 346,000 homes were damaged or destroyed across the state. The state’s famed boardwalk was left with tens of millions of dollars in damage.

Recovery takes time -- and money. Apparently not everyone in New Jersey feels like progress is moving quickly enough, and that showed during a Sandy anniversary reception in Belmar Wednesday. USA Today reports people with signs in the audience took jabs at Gov. Chris Christie, who has been in office since the storm hit.

Gov. Christie didn’t appreciate the criticism and sounded off in front of the cameras.

“I’ve been here when the cameras aren’t here, buddy, and done the work. I'm glad you had your day to show off, but we're the ones who are here to actually do the work,” Christie said. "So listen, you want to have the conversation later, I’m happy to have it, buddy. But until that time, sit down and shut up.”

What is described is not "losing it."

Christie has a habit of getting strident with such critics. He's certainly deserving of criticism on a lot of fronts, but he never loses control of where he is when he's speaking, and is perfectly coherent in his statement and arguments.

The Weather Channel is clearly engaging in politics, going after a Republican governor with no real basis for doing so. But it's controlled by NBC, so we shouldn't be surprised.
