Obama 'Major Address' Panned by Fans in the Press; AP Barely Musters Eight Paragraphs, But Debuts New Halo

If you're starting to lose Jonathan Alter, reporters at Politico, and other left-leaning outlets, you're starting to get into trouble. Double that if you can't even get Julie Pace at the Associated Press, aka the Administration's Press, to muster more than eight paragraphs relating to a 53-minute speech pre-positioned as a "major address."

Hunter Walker has compiled several less than complimentary tweets at Politicker, including the following:

Before the speech was over, Politico’s Mike O’Brien begged the president to stop.

Mike O'Brien@mpoindc
In terms of politics, this speech could have ended about 20 minutes ago. Drive your message, take your ball, go home.

On the air, MSNBC’s Jonathan Alter said it was “one of the worst speeches I’ve ever heard Barack Obama make.” He refused to back down.

Jonathan Alter@jonathanalter
Just cheerleading BO doesn't help him. He needs a sharper, more cogent message with some memorable lines. I ain't walking my criticism back

ABC News reporter Devin Dwyer felt like we were all being lectured.

devindwyer@devindwyer
Obama speech in Ohio felt more lecture or courtroom arg than rally. He streamlined pitch, imbued urgency, said voters will break stalemate.
14 Jun 12 ReplyRetweetFavorite

... Yahoo! News White House correspondent Olivier Knox took note of the massive word count of the speech (for the record, the official White House transcript clocked in at just under 6,500 words).

Olivier Knox@OKnox
I ask colleague for CQ transcript of Obama speech. Response: "Sure, but it looks like they only have the first 45,000 words."

The long running time of President Obama’s speech made Politico’s Jennfier Epstein think of a new inspirational maxim for the country.

Jennifer Epstein@jeneps
In America we don't quit til we've spoken for 54 minutes

Buzzfeed’s Zeke Miller was clearly unimpressed.

Zeke Miller@ZekeJMiller
There is nothing new in this speech.

That's because there's nothing new at the White House -- just the same failed policites which have led to 3-1/2 miserable years.

Pace's coverage at AP was forced from beginning to end, up to and including the "halo" photo partially seen at the beginning of this post (AP original is here). Her report is so boring I can't muster up the energy to excerpt anything.

If we see passing out and fainting at Obama rallies this around, it will probably occur as a result of people pretending to seem interested while it's impossible to truly remain so. Some members of the press are clearly tired of faking it.

Hey, guys and gals!!! Welcome to what WE knew 3-4 years ago, you morons!!!!

He's a narcissist

Submitted by Texndoc on Thu, 06/14/2012 - 11:51pm.

Narcissists love to hear themselves talk. They think YOU love to hear them talk.

Wonder if he recorded all 53 minutes and put it on an iPod as another gift for The Queen of England? I'm sure she listens to the first iPod of his speeches (as given to her as a "National Gift") over and over.

It seems to me that the big criticism of Bush

Submitted by bkeyser on Fri, 06/15/2012 - 12:14am.

from an economic standpoint -from Obamabots- is the "Bush Tax Cuts" (which should more appropriately be called the "Bush Tax Rates", since that's what they are.) And yet, didn't Obama extend those very rates? In total? That pretty much makes them the "Obama Tax Rates" now. So Obama (and his bots) are effectively saying the big criticism of Bush and the reason the recession was so hard-hitting, is the Obama Tax Cuts.

Anyway, here's a new Obama bumper sticker.

Pointing out the truth to the left is not condoned, at least by the left. And, love the bumper sticker.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

Didn't I just read - this

Submitted by killa37 on Fri, 06/15/2012 - 12:53am.

Didn't I just read - this morning - about some jaded, slanted, skewed, and weighted 'poll' that said most Americans - and a majority of Republicans - STILL think that the bad economy is Bush's fault??? Yeah...............and I'm sure most people are buying that!!!

Boy BlahBlah has finally reached a point to where he is becoming indefensible - even to a lot of his own knee-pad wearers!!

And, yeah.............54 friggin' minutes??? BORE 54 - WHERE ARE YOU???? Somebody would have to give me some SERIOUS drugs - the kind that make you pass out - for me to be able to sit through this kind of torture!!! Actually, listening to this punk for 30 seconds is enough to ruin my attitude - much less my day!!!

Don't discount the polls

Submitted by stunned on Fri, 06/15/2012 - 1:03am.

The LSM and Obama's mantra that is all Bush's fault is working. Tell a lie enough times and it becomes the truth is an old saying and is true. The Republicans have to keep pushing the line that if Bush's policies were so wrong for the country then why did Obama double down on them? We are in this mess because Obama continued the big spending ways of the prior administration.

LOL I know the spending rose when the Dems took Congress and Bush wouldn't sign the last budget in his Presidency because it was crazy and Obama was the one who signed it but the public DOESN'T KNOW THAT!! The LSM is not going to report the truth because it isn't going to help Obama. If the economy was soaring he would be taking credit for Bush's last budget as well.
