Yahoo News U.S. Home Page, 11 a.m. ET: Nothing on Walker, Wisconsin

By Tom Blumer | June 06, 2012 | 11:46

To be fair, Yahoo News's main home page has a headlined item called "What Scott Walker can teach Barack Obama," a later reference to the slapping of Tom Barrett by a "supporter" for supposedly conceding too early, and the Politics mini-section of the home page lists three Wisconsin-related stories.

But Yahoo News's U.S. home page (screen grabs here and here) as of 11 a.m. ET was a Wisconsin-free, Walker-free zone. And it's not like the page is devoid of political items, such as the following, plus a "most popular" item I'll reveal at the end which seems like a plant:

  • Its "U.S. News Headlines has "Obama, Clinton team up to court New York Elite"
  • Its "Top Stories" include "California gay marriage case looks headed to Supreme Court" and a sport-politics item, "New York Governor urges end to labor dispute ahead of Belmont Stakes Reuters"

Yes, there's a "Politics" tab which includes Walker- and Wisconsin-related items, but that's not an offset, given the political stories of lesser importance users first see on main page, and given that as far as I can tell, users can't deep-link or bookmark into the Politics tab.

Oh, and there's one more political item on the U.S. home page. At the top of the "Most Popular" U.S. stories as of 11 a.m. (as well as 11 p.m. last night; HT to a NewsBusters commenter) ahead of five other non-political items, is ABC's Amy Bingham recycle of a tired story Time.com covered a month ago: "'Sluts' Unite Against Republicans, Rush Limbaugh."

This is hardly some inconsequential corner of the Internet. According to EbizMBA.com's rankings, Yahoo News as a whole is the web's number one news site, with 50% more unique visitors than runner-up CNN.com.

Slapping~

Yeah, the media are burying the Walker win as much as they can get away with doing.

I do have to say, however, that what that woman did to Barrett was awful! I felt sorry for the guy. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior:

No excuse

"There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior."

But I'm guessing that a lot of people on the left think she's a heroine today.

P.S. Re:video

Just because it happens so quickly and the slapper is so short in stature, it may be hard to make out who did the slapping in this video...but it's NOT the sweet-faced, auburn-haired, smiling woman talking to Barrett. In fact, I am not even sure that woman even saw the slap because she looked ahead around then...but you can see at some point, it registered with that smiling woman that something was wrong -- you can see her stop smiling and looking down at the slapper -- who is a short, dark-haired "lady" with her hair pulled back. The elderly woman in back of the slapper did see the slap, and you can see her stop smiling too, and others in the vicinity looking rather stunned. Then a security guy in black (you can scarcely see the patch on his arm) walks the slapper away.

Anyway, I just didn't want people to think the smiling woman slapped him.

On the news pics on their front page, that tou have to click on every 5 pieces..there are like 65 there, and not ONE has the results! Guess its time to look for a new news source, and probably a new home page, too, liberal Yahoo!

Apparently they have to have "gay" something

on their sites at all times, lest the brainwashing slip. It was far more important to tell us about two dudes in a JC Penny ad than to report that a liberal cause once again didn't succeed at the ballot box. Maybe it's just that liberal causes lose when they go to voters so often they just don't think it's news?

Oh wait, they just found an angle: "Barrett Slapped In Face After Conceding Recall To Walker" Cute, huh?

There is nothing about the

Submitted by ricklail on Wed, 06/06/2012 - 1:12pm.

There is nothing about the wire tap warrants that were issued for Fast and Furious. They prove that Breuer knew about F&F in March of 2012. About a year before he claims to have known. This comes from CBS of all places.
