'African-Americans for Obama' Revived; Media Double Standard Obvious

By Tom Blumer | March 01, 2012 | 00:36

Tom Blumer's picture

It wouldn't take more than a nanosecond for the establishment press and TV talking heads to rip into any white political candidate -- Democrat or Republican -- who carved out a web site devoted to "Whites for Candidate X."

About a week ago, President Obama, with his powers of incumbency in tow, decided to revive something he created back in 2007: "African-Americans for Obama." And, as seen in the Obama video which appears at the site and in what appears to be a new twist, the Obama campaign is driving a Mack through the alleged wall of separation between church and state by finding so-called "congregation captains" to maximize African-American support on his behalf. As would unfortunately be expected, the press has not covered campaign's move; A Google News search on "African Americans for Obama" (in quotes) returns only 17 results, only four of which are arguably mainstream media items.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

The results for CNN and Mediaite are only listed because commenters at otherwise unrelated posts brought up the "AAs for BHO" launch. One found at Kansas.com simply lists readers' brief comments, and also isn't a result of the publication's original work.

The fourth mainstream result comes from the Times Herald in Vallejo, California. It too isn't a product of the papers journalists or editorialists, but is instead a letter to the editor from a Doris Robinson. It's worth posting most of it here, especially its delicious final sentence:

Of the million ways our first black president could have honored Black History Month, he chose to debut "African-Americans for Obama." Once again, this self-indulgent man plays the race card, creating social and political division, and ignores the many, many accomplishments of past and present black Americans.

Are you aware, Mr. President:

* That it was Republicans who supported the Civil Rights Act while the Democrats conducted a 57-day filibuster against racial equality. Sen. Robert Byrd, the late Democrat from West Virginia, spoke against the civil rights bill for 14 straight hours.

* That it was a Democrat governor (George Wallace) who blocked the schoolhouse door to keep out black students

* That the police chief of Birmingham, Ala., was Eugene "Bull" Connor, a Democrat and KKK member who ordered the police attack on thousands of peacefully demonstrating black children. They assaulted with high-pressure hoses, clubs and dogs and then jailed nearly a thousand children. "Bull" Connor was Alabama's Democratic National Committeeman and was later elected to statewide office.

* That it was a Republican federal judge, Frank Johnson, who in 1956 ruled in favor of Rosa Parks and who in 1965 ordered the Democratic governor, George Wallace, to allow Martin Luther King's voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery.

African Americans have suffered greatly at the hands of your political party, Mr. Obama.

... What have you really done for black Americans in the last three years? You have used them and their painful history to create your own personal playground while they stand outside the fence looking in.

You should be as ashamed of rallying "African-Americans for Obama" as I would be if Newt Gingrich was pushing "Whites for Gingrich" or Mitt Romney's campaign slogan was "Mormons for Mitt."

... you call yourself the "great uniter" while you systematically pit one half of your heritage against the other whenever it suits your political career.

Ouch.

It should also be noted that the 2007 version of "African-Americans for Obama" was marred by its original selection of a certain person to represent it in Nevada:

In other Mayweather news, it was reported by the AP last week that Floyd was MIA from a Las Vegas campaign event for Illinois Senator Barack Obama after the campaign had concerns about his rap sheet. He had been billed as the co-host of African Americans for Obama in Nevada.

In 2004, Floyd was convicted of misdemeanor battery for punching two women at a Las Vegas nightclub in 2003. He was given suspended prison sentences, $1,000 in fines, and ordered to complete impulse control counseling.

In 2005, he was acquitted of a felony domestic violence charge after his accuser, former girlfriend Josie Harris, changed her story. He was also convicted of misdemeanor battery for a bar fight in Grand Rapids.

This is the same Floyd Mayweather who recently tweeted is disdain for New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin's sudden and unprecedented breakout success as follows: "Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he's Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don't get the same praise." It shouldn't surprise anyone that Mayweather won't back down.

What about dumbass, stupid, misinformed, uninformed, mindless, brainless, non-productive, government-dependent, needs to be told how to live, what to eat, and what to think people for Obama???? That pretty much makes up for about 75% of his voters...........with the unions, the lib elite, the MSM, and government employees who would never be able to cut it in the real world picking up about 20% more...................the last 5% being the dead, the felons, the mythical, the multi-voters, and the cartoon characters.

After all, Boy Barry has been ENDORSED by the Communist, Socailist, AND Nazi parties of America................I don't know why that's not being used as hard-core ammo against him. Oh, wait, we ARE talking about the Republican Eunich Party here, right??

African Americans for Obama?

When in doubt, go back to what you understand. Bogeyman stories.  What do you promise to buy their votes this time?

You're nothing if not predictable, like you just know there's a white sheet around every corner.

This tells me something about you, Mr. President.  Having only recently admitted your personal fecklessness (no silver bullet) in influencing oil prices, and having demonstrated your complete lack of leadership, you must be feeling your magic slipping away as members of the black race become disenchanted.

Maybe you need to slip into that dialect Harry Reid says you can sum up at will.  Obviously you and your inner circle believe a little song and dance for the folk will be effective.

Does it bother you Mr. President, that the only thing people can say that's good about is the bare minimum expected of any man, that you're probably a good dad?  I'll admit that's something, but you signed on with America for a hell of a lot more than you're delivering.

Mr. President, you're a racist.  And envy is a virtue in your religion.  Cake and circuses, huh?

You've acted stupidly.

the editor. Personally, the description "African American" is offensive to me. If a person is an American and they are also Black, than they are a Black American.

I'm also offended by the identification of groups or organizations found in and encouraged by some of the large corporations I have worked for. For example companies such as Boeing and Raytheon have organizations such as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, the Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, etc. But the Society of White Engineers or the Society of Men Engineers not only don't exist, but would be considered racist, and not permitted to exist.

The problem with Black American or African American labels

Submitted by TheHistorian on Thu, 03/01/2012 - 7:01am.

There is a problem with Black American or African American, Hispanic American, etc labels. We should all be Americans first, and whatever ethnic group second. Unfortunately, the way that the groups like PUSH, the Rainbow Coalition, La Raza, etc go, the Black, African, Hispanic, is being played on. People are Americans first, or aren't Americans. So to put the two words together is to deny our melting pot heritage and put to a lie that we are all here to build a better country and the "shining city on the hill". Instead, the groups are Black, Hispanic, African, etc and have made a lie to the American part of the label.

Submitted by TheHistorian on Thu, 03/01/2012 - 6:56am.

I would like to suggest two other groups for the election:

Blacks Against The Halfrican (BATH) because I would like to see the electorate give him one, and Liberals, Independents Against RepublicanS (LIARS) because the members are such big ones.

I would love to see the LIARS fall flat on their derrierres and BATH the Prez.

Who are the racists?

Submitted by iamsaved on Thu, 03/01/2012 - 9:18am.

The 2008 election proved who the real racists are - blacks and the accomodating liberal media.

The daily charges of racism by the left is the flypaper that keeps them stuck to the Democrat plantation. If things start looking up for blacks, the race baiters and name callers come out in force.

Sure, just look at the prior Joan Walsh thread

Submitted by merly1 on Thu, 03/01/2012 - 10:05am.

It's the left obsessed with race based issues.
It was the left media (MSNBC and CNN) that drove the birther issue coverage.
It was the left media that Bush-bashed on the "Iraq civil war" that now ignores the mess
in Afghan, even as the President laughably says he "calmed things down" while more soldiers
are assassinated. You think if this was Bush the media sarcasm wouldnt be a mile-high?
The left baits on the issue du jour, there is NO doubt.

Is anyone surprised?

Submitted by Herbster on Thu, 03/01/2012 - 11:45am.

Is anyone surprised that the state run media has not "Reported" this? Reportage by omission. An old propaganda tactic. Beware the government/media complex. Our "News organizations" today are nothing more than the propaganda arm of the far left. They get their marching orders - and off they go. I find it fascination when the usual empty suits and empty skirts use the exact same words and phrases when reading the pro left news. This election cycle Republican candidates will be eviscerated - accused of any made up horrible deed that could come to mind. Dems (Obambi) will continue to be stroked with kid gloves. Republicans have to start smacking down these whack-a-moles instead of toadying up to them in hopes of being treated fairly and with respect. It will never happen.

Without the Second Amendment, there will be no First Amendment.
