Occupy Movement's Embarrassing CPAC Saga Invisible at AP

By Tom Blumer | February 13, 2012 | 00:50

On Friday, the Daily Caller reported that Occupy movement protesters at CPAC were being paid $60 a day to be there. (Here I thought the left was really motivated these days. Guess not.)

At the self-described Essential Global News Network known as the Associated Press, this fact and other inconvenient items about the movement's pathetic efforts at and around CPAC are being ignored. Before demonstrating that, I'll identify what the additional embarrassments are.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

The Daily Caller separately reported on Friday that many of the protesters have no idea what CPAC is, and can't coherently explain why they are there:

‘Occupy CPAC’ protesters have no idea what CPAC is

Protesters at the “Occupy CPAC” event, organized by the AFL-CIO and Occupy DC to target the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, were unaware of what they were protesting against Friday afternoon.

The Daily Caller spoke to several protesters outside of the conference venue and many said they had no idea what the Conservative Political Action Conference was, or what they were supposed to be opposing.

Several of the protest organizers were unhappy that reporters were trying to ask questions. They demanded that reporters “just film” the signs and protesters, but refrain from speaking to participants.

The event organizers were overheard frantically saying “we have a problem, we have a problem” after TheDC asked questions in Spanish, a language that they appeared to be unfamiliar with.

Oh yes, this was a bilingual protest, presumably enabling NBC's Univision to convey the impression to its fewer that Hispanics poured out of the barrios spontaneously to protest the CPAC event.

The video at the Daily Caller link shows how the online publication's Michelle Fields pulled a fast one on organizers by being unexpectedly fluent in Spanish and learning how ignorant both Spanish- and English-speaking protesters really were. Some didn't even know what their signs said.

On Saturday, Occupy interlopers began to disrupt Sarah Palin's CPAC speech. It didn't last long (internal link was in original):

Palin Speech Rocks CPAC, Crowd Drowns Out Occupy Mic Check with ‘U-S-A, U-S-A’

Protesters disrupted Palin’s remarks, the first such disturbance during a speech at this year’s conference. ABC News reports that the response from Palin’s loyal supporters was fierce:

“As protesters chanted at her from the back of the room at the Marriott, a man in the back row leaped over his chair, ran toward them and screamed, ‘Get the hell out of here, you a**hole!’

The protesters were kicked out as others in the room began chanting ‘USA! USA!‘ followed quickly by ’Sarah! Sarah!’

‘See, you just won,’ Palin ad-libbed to more cheers.”

Chris Field posted video of the protest and subsequent chants as seen from the crowd on The Blaze Blog earlier in the day. Occupy CPAC protesters have been outside the Marriott where the conference is being held since Wednesday, and have been coordinated by Washington D.C.’s AFL-CIO.

Note that the referenced ABC story never identified the Occupy-movement origin of the "protesters."

A search on "CPAC" at the Associated Press's main national site returns five stories on the conference. A search on "CPAC occupy" (not in quotes) returns none. It would appear that the AP is doing all it can to make sure as few news readers, listeners and viewer as possible learn how totally humiliated the Occupiers' not so excellent adventure at CPAC this weekend really was.

Yup, Doc - one of my favorite ANAL-ogies!!! They show up, stink up the joint, and leave a smelly residue for everyone else to deal with. And when it is finally over with..........nothing happened, but a lot of people were put in a smelly situation.

How can you expect true union believers to picket and protest on their own behalf? It's much easier to pay a bunch of losers an hour's pay for a day's loafing than to waste a Saturday.

I guess in the future they will have to use Manpower, a temp labor agency to picket and protest. OH WAIT, they have already done that!

I love it! While the Democrats in the White House and the MSM cling desperately to their old, tired narratives and are doing all they can to stay in power, these bumbling idiots keep botching up their efforts by embarrassing themselves more and more every time they do something like this! The whole plan of indoctrinating generations of students into the liberal ideology was working, but now that they've raised generations of ignorant fools with no restraints and no brains, it's backfiring bigtime!
