AP: Animal Rights 'Activists' Torch 14 Big-Rig Tractors, 'Several' Trailers at Calif. Beef Processor
Violent animal-rights radicals are claiming responsibility for an early Sunday morning fire at a California beef processing plant, and have described how they did it to prove they were really responsible.
A brief unbylined Associated Press report describes the perpetrators as "activists" -- twice:
Here are the first two paragraphs:

Geez, what does someone have to do at least be called a group of "militants"?
Even Janet Napolitano would probably call them "domestic terrorists."

These worthless bastids are nothing more than terrorists and should be dealt with as such. There are actually trucking companies that will refuse loads going to the 'great state of california' because of crap like this.

They are just a bunch of kids having some fun and playing harmless pranks. It's no different than the halloween trick of getting a bag of feces and lighting it on fire and putting it on the front porch of someone.(Of course I'm saying all this in sarcasm)
In response, they(ALF/ELF) should be shot.(This I'm not saying in sarcasm)

the way the author framed this is, I think, responsible journalism. He's reporting on the fact that a particular group claimed responsibility, not that it's been proven that those claiming responsibility actually did it.
I know...odds are pretty damn good that these freaks did it, but there is a possibility that they didn't, and they just want to capitalize on some other nut job's handiwork.
All that said, if this group claiming responsibility have in the past been proven to have committed acts of terrorism ("Eco-" or otherwise), then your point stands; they should be labeled as terrorists.
When they start making arrest

If they start making arrest, the culprits will be found. Hopefully they will throw the book at em. These Trucks are insured, others policy holder will have to make up for this willful destruction of property.

According to Big Sis and her predecessors, an "Animal Liberation" group is presumptively a "domestic terrorist" organization.
The item could have been written without using a label at all: "Authorities are looking into an animal-rights group's claims ... the group claimed responsibility ..."

How does setting these trucks on fire help any animal? If we can't eat meat and the environomentalists won't let us grow the crops needed to take the place of meat in our diets, I guess they both get what they want. DEAD HUMANS.

"Court documents show Vick personally participated in killing at least a half-dozen dogs. Some were hanged, suspended from a crossbar with a nylon rope. Some were drowned, held upside down while their heads were forced into a bucket of water. One was killed when Vick and one of his partners seized it by the legs and slammed it repeatedly to the ground, breaking its neck and back.Other dogs at the "kennel" - an awfully nice name for what was really a charnel house for helpless animals - were reportedly electrocuted, shot or forced to breed until their bodies just gave out. According to a report released by U.S. Department of Agriculture officials who were part of the investigation, on a couple of occasions Vick and his pals threw untrained family pets into the pit with savage fighters.Pet dogs that apparently belonged to his own family: Vick "thought...
