Name That Party: No Media Report Acknowledges That Embezzling Santa Fe, N.M. Sheriff Is a Democrat
It doesn't get more obvious than this.
Former Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano, who pleaded guilty Wednesday to five felony counts, is a Democrat.
What follows are the results of three searches demonstrating that every media outlet which can be found by Google News which has tracked the story in the past 30 days has failed to note Solano's party affiliation.
First a Google News search on Solano's full name (sorted by date, with duplicates) yields 90 results (the first page says "about 96," but it's really 90):

A Google News search on ["Greg Solano" Democrat] (typed exactly as indicated between brackets) comes up empty:

The same goes for a search on ["Greg Solano" Democratic]:

Any questions?
Here is a brief description from a recent Associated Press story of Mr. Solano's escapades:
Former Santa Fe County Sheriff Greg Solano pleaded guilty Wednesday to five counts of felony fraud.
Solano resigned in November and admitted he embezzled and then sold county-owned items like office equipment and bullet-proof vests on eBay.
He was arrested in January and charged with 251 counts of embezzlement and one count of fraud.
It seems more than a little doubtful that press coverage of a Republican sheriff sentenced for serious crimes of this nature would be able to completely avoid having his or her party identified by any press outlet.

Of course not. If he were republican, it'd be the lead story.

Liberal MSMers will never report anything detrimental to dems, libs, socialists or communists. It's the first line in the Soros Media Pledge.

I searched this a few days ago, found many articles about this but NOT one saying which party. Nothing at CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, NBC, NYT and roughly 20 other sites. Nothing so I assumed it was a Democrat, bleeding PIG.

Would have thought brian williams would have this as his lead in story. But, no my mistake. It was a story about Bachman and her headaches which to him is what he calls news.

of New Mexico (Democrat) in 2010, before he was forced to resign from his Sheriff's position.
I noticed after reading Reuter's New Mexico sheriff faces possible jail term over eBay sales, that the comments attached to the piece also noted the lack of political affiliation:
I suspect that some or all of these posters read NewsBusters.

Ah yes. If they don't identify the party then there is a 99% chance it is a democrat. I believe there were some other elected officials of an unknown party that were working with a Mexican drug cartel.
Actually....it's rather simple.

If there is no party affiliation metioned, I just naturally assume that he/she/it is a Democrat.
It's like when the MSM reports on a crime. If the victim is black, race is mentioned, if they're white, it's not mentioned. If the offender is white, race is mentioned, if they're black, it's not.

They think we are so dumb we haven't figured out that sometimes what they don't say, really says more than what they do say. You are absolutely right about when it is a democrat or black. All republicans and all whites must be guilty of something. Only democrats, blacks, (although not conservative ones) and muslims are victims.
Idiot journalists make it easy to know party identification.

If they point out any politician accused, under investigation or convicted for corruption, we automatically know it's a Democrat when they try to hide the political affiliation.
Substance abusers share the same behavior when they keep their substances of choice out of sight.

I live in New Mexico and every morning the ABQ Journal features the "scandal du jour". New Mexico has an almost closed system of family and who-you-know system of government that breeds corruption - pay to play, embezzlement, extortion, and nepotism. The administration of ex- Governor Bill Richardson (D) raised corruption to either a science or art form. We have had people in government paid $100,000 plus a year who no one could figure out what they did. One lady was paid that much to be the head of the NM Museum of Film that consisted of a one room office that was unoccupied. There's an isolated village here (Columbus, I believe) where the mayor and police chief were arrested for being gun runners to Mexican gangs. In fact, a huge government presence and corruption are so common here it seems to be almost accepted as a way of doing business, greeted mostly with shrugs and yawns. I particularly like the newest scandal where a four foot tall judge is accused of raping a prostitute (I guess he didn't pay her or something like that).

It's very simple. When the story is read with a lot of anxiety and soul-searching angst, but no reference to party, it's always a Democrat.
When the story ABOUT A REBULICAN, is read ABOUT A REPUBLICAN, one-handed, with a lot of pau...se...s and stra...n...ge hes..it..at..ions, one-handed, and hunched behind a desk, it's ABOUT A REPUBLICAN. Another tell is when they light up a cigarette after finishing the story and then drift off to sleep.

extremely serious crimes and deserves not one ounce of sympathy. He is headed to the slammer. Solano's case has been extensively covered, but his party affiliation has admittedly been rarely revealed--although I'm sure most residents of New Mexico are well aware he is a Democrat. However, despite the relative paucity of outlets identifying his political leanings, they DO exist (and not just conservative ones gloating about his membership in the Democratic party.)
Interestingly, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who has been under federal investigation for quite some time, is infrequently identified as a Republican in the articles focusing on his legal troubles. It could be that county sheriffs simply don't warrant the obligatory political party references which would be more routinely provided when holders of national office are the subject of news items.

That's a 15% hit rate. Low, probably based on your explanation, but far more than zero, which includes AP reports which get outside of NM.

notice how the Norway bomber is prominently being called a right-wing Christian with strong anti Muslim beliefs in most press accounts today... I'm guessing if he were Al Quada with a penchant for infidel blood it would appear somewhere below the fold...if at all....
