CNNMoney Headline: 'Florida and Texas Governors in Jobs P*ssing Match'

In a post time-stamped on Saturday at 12:16 p.m., CNNMoney.com has a story (HT Ed Driscoll via the PJ Tatler) headlined "Florida and Texas in jobs p*ssing match" (except that there's an "i" where I typed an asterisk).

Since the story has been up for at least 12 hours (maybe longer, given that the its URL is dated May 20; Update, May 22, 5 p.m.: The comments at a cached CNN Political Ticker tease for the story go back to May 20 at 4:21 p.m.), it's hard not to conclude that CNN and writer Tami Luhby like its title just the way it is.

A screen cap of the top section of the item is after the jump, so you don't have to go there if you're offended by CNN's language:

Driscoll asks: "Dear CNN, please show me any headline that uses the word “pissing” in reference to a Democratic governor, or, heaven forfend, the president."

Here's something more constructive Ms. Luhby might consider pursuing instead of making bodily function analogies: Find answers to the following three questions --

  1. How has Texas, which has only 8% of the nation's population, managed to create half of the nation's net new jobs since the recession ended in 2009?
  2. Where would the establishment press's favorite president's popularity be if it weren't for Texas virtually propping up the rest of the economy?
  3. In light of the answers to Questions 1 and 2, why is the Obama administration for all practical purposes at war (in an economic and regulatory sense) with the Lone Star State?

Please remember this item the next time we get an establishment media lecture about blogospheric standards.
