UK Telly: Al Qaeda Troops on Libyan Rebels' Front Lines
Libyan rebel commander admits his fighters have al-Qaeda links
Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi's regime.
So how will the U.S. press deal with this hot potato?
Here are excerpts from the UK Telegraph story:
In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited "around 25" men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are "today are on the front lines in Adjabiya".
Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters "are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists," but added that the "members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader".
His revelations came even as Idriss Deby Itno, Chad's president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, "including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries".
Mr al-Hasidi admitted he had earlier fought against "the foreign invasion" in Afghanistan, before being "captured in 2002 in Peshwar, in Pakistan". He was later handed over to the US, and then held in Libya before being released in 2008.
... ... Even though the LIFG is not part of the al-Qaeda organisation, the United States military's West Point academy has said the two share an "increasingly co-operative relationship". In 2007, documents captured by allied forces from the town of Sinjar, showed LIFG emmbers made up the second-largest cohort of foreign fighters in Iraq, after Saudi Arabia.
Earlier this month, al-Qaeda issued a call for supporters to back the Libyan rebellion, which it said would lead to the imposition of "the stage of Islam" in the country.
This gives new meaning to the term "coalition of the confused."
There's probably more than a little confusion in U.S. establishment press newsrooms right about now.

Well, just saw a crawl on Fox where our Dear Leader says "We're winning in Libya."
I guess we all know who he means by "We" now. Don't you just love nuance?
Could we please get a president who is on our side next time, if we last that long?
I see Red Jeep beat me to it.

Deafening silence will be the theme of the day on this subject.
However, Tom, I am sure your personal fan club of trolls will be by momentarily to parse your headline, your grammar, and your punctuation. Congrats, you've arrived.

Because my previous tag, as you well know, was quoting you, sandwiching you between my even earlier Rush Limbaugh tag, and of course, the leader of the Congressional Kick A** Caucus, Allen West. Nice company you're keeping there, Duchess.
I think I have marvelous taste in tags.

Blonde I brought this up here, responded to Boil it Down on the open thread on the 18th that the so called citizen uprising was Al Qaeda, so to speak. This is a disaster for the US. But I do believe Obama has known this all along. This whole administration needs to be impeached!

Obama is a Clear and Present Danger to this country. I know I took great joy in calling one of the trolls "feckless" last week. But I am now thinking of O in those terms as well....the Feckless Obama.

Tom, finely someone reports on this. So far today no news on TV about this. It is an ignored story. I have ranted since Libya became an issue of discussion that it was Al Qaeda backed and it is Al Qaeda and its associates that are behind all of the ME uprisings. The governments in question are all Sunni. The rioters and protesters are Shiites promoting Shariah law.
If the US is going to take sides in Libya, then we should side with Gaddafi. After all, we cannot kill these people in Afghanistan and support them in Libya.
Best solution is to pull out completely, before American blood is spilled. Let them kill each other. It's no skin off our nose.

MSM response will be to

MSM response will be to smother the story in the name of relevance. Just like Obama's sealed grades you're not going to hear about it in order to form a judgment other than what the MSM told you to think otherwise you might get confused. Americans are stupid morons, they need to be guided. /sarcasm/

See where the stories come from.
Apparently 3 days ago, CNN speculated whether this might be an opening for Al Qaeda, but they have since lost interest.

So in one country, we are fighting al Qaida in Afghanistan, but in another in Libya, we are fighting along side of them? Ok,so we don't have boots on the ground in Libya, but we're helping them in any case!
I don't care if civilians are getting bombed over there, if the Arab League wants to get involved, this is THEIR problem. Our soldiers have got to be by themselves with anger at the idea of all this nonsense. And yes, it would be nice to get that son of a bitch Kaddafi, he did kill some of or people in Lockerbie, but in this case, getting rid of the Big Nosed Wonder is helping the same terrorists who are fighting us elsewhere.
That's F'ed up!
If the Chairman doesn't cease and desist his activities, Congress better start asking themselves if they want to let this continue or do they impeach someone who violated the Constitution in the most blatant way yet and remove that possob!
We got some bad times coming to us because of this crap.

US may supply arms to al-Qaeda in Libya?
Submitted by Gary Hall on Sat, 03/26/2011 - 1:38pm.
Now this from Sky News:
While it's long been debatable that some of the arms from the US covert aid (Jimmy Carter, then Ronald Reagan) to the freedom fighters in Afghanistan's long battle against the imperialist Soviet Empire may have ended up in the hands of al-Qaeda; this time around, we know who and what al-Qaeda is - what they are about - and now, since we understand that they are in Libya aiding the rebels and fighting alongside the rebels, we're considering giving them arms?
Color me surprised that the national press won't bring this up.

Bush directed our Military to fight against Muslim terrorists.
Obama directs our military to stop shooting at them in Afghanistan, even giving awards for not doing so, and then directs our Military to blaze a trail for Al Qaeda in Libya.
Elections have consequences. Really.
They can't be Al Qaida: We're arming them

These Lybian rebels, who are raiding arms caches in rebel lands, are the same people we are about to arm. They are also the same people we are fighting a war against in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Do we have even two brain cells to rub against each other?

This proves what many have been saying all along. This man BHO is incompetant and so is everone else in this admin. How smart do you have to be to understand that Libian rebels could be AQ??
We are fighting 2 wars against these terrorists and now we are fighting on their side in Libia!! What the hell is wrong with this picture!!! Only one thing and that would be our present admin.
Here is the solution. Pull out of the NATO effort there and then bomb both sides. Neither is going to be friendly to the US after this anyway.
Question, When Isreal retaliates against the terrorists firing rockets and mortars into Isreal and trying to kill their people will the US be there to help Isreal?
Well here's a thought. If
Submitted by dscott on Sat, 03/26/2011 - 4:21pm.
Well here's a thought. If they want boots on the ground but not US troops, and al Qaeda is our new partner in the rebel alliance let's just tell the Taliban fighters in Afghanistan we'll give them a free ride to Libya. It's a twofer, less to kill in Afghanistan and they can deal with Qadhafi. /sarcasm/
Could this current administration be any more FUBAR?
