John Hayward at Human Events on Friday: 'You Might Be Seeing a Lot of Eric Fuller Over the Weekend'

Noel Sheppard posted the news about J. Eric Fuller's arrest at NewsBusters earlier this evening:

According to the website of ABC-TV affiliate KGUN, J. Eric Fuller was arrested and charged with threats, intimidation, and disorderly conduct.

Demonstrating impressive prescience, John Hayward at Human Events predicted on Friday that Fuller would attempt to capitalize on his being among the injured in last Saturday's Tucson murders. After the jump, you'll get a sampling of Fuller's full feelings from Hayward:

You might be seeing a lot of Eric Fuller over the weekend. He’s one of the people injured in Jared Loughner’s shooting rampage, taking rounds in the knee and back. He’s also a vicious bigot, and because he’s elderly and a military veteran, the Left is going to fall in love with him.

Fuller gave an interview with the Democracy NOW radio show, in which he said of the Tucson shootings: “It looks like Palin, Beck, Sharron Angle, and the rest got their first target.” Presumably he’s not talking about Judge John Roll.

“Their wish for Second Amendment activism has been fulfilled,” Fuller ranted on, “senseless hatred leading to murder, lunatic fringe anarchism, subscribed to by John Boehner, mainstream rebels with vengeance for all, even 9-year-old girls.” I didn’t realize the Second Amendment called for all those things. They must be lurking in one of the penumbras or emanations.

And John Boehner’s part of Murder, Incorporated now? Even by the frothy standards of liberal hatemongering, that’s quite a stretch. At least the fevered minds of the Left can say that Palin, Beck, and Angle are feisty and confrontational. Boehner apparently inspired a murderous rampage by gently taking that gavel from Nancy Pelosi’s hands.

Fuller’s emergence as a beeping smoke detector amid the right-wing haze of the “Climate of Hate” has already drawn praise from Soros operative Eric Bohlert, who issued a Twitter taunt to Michelle Malkin and Andrew Breitbart: “Countdown to smearing wounded veteran from Tucson massacre begins… now.”

Looks like Fuller smeared himself quite effectively, per KGUN:

On the front row was Kenneth Dorushka, who was shot shielding his wife from Loughner's gunfire; and J. Eric Fuller, who was shot in the knee.

... When Tucson Tea Party founder Trent Humphries rose to suggest that any conversation about gun control should be put off until after the funerals for all the victims, witnesses say Fuller became agitated. Two told KGUN9 News that finally, Fuller took a picture of Humphries, and said, "You're dead."

When State Rep. Terri Proud (R-Tucson) rose to explain and clarify current and proposed gun legislation in the state, several people groaned or booed her. One of those booing, according to several witnesses, was Fuller. Witnesses sitting near Fuller told KGUN9 News that Fuller was making them feel very uncomfortable.

The event wrapped up a short time later. Deputies then escorted Fuller from the room. As he was being led off, Fuller shouted loudly to the room at large. Several witnesses said that what they thought they heard him shout was, "You're all whores!"

A Pima County Sheriff's spokesman told KGUN9 News that they charged Fuller with one count of threats and intimidation, and said they plan to charge him with at least one count of disorderly conduct. Humphries told KGUN9 News that he does plan to press those charges.

... Afterwards, several participants told KGUN9 News that they hoped the outburst would not overshadow what they saw as the true message of the meeting: that Tucson is filled with good and decent people, and the community will get through this.

There would appear to be a better chance of "getting through this" if Mr. Fuller can be kept away from attempts to do so.

→ Pima Sheriff's Dept?

Submitted by Cool Arrow on Sat, 01/15/2011 - 9:21pm.

Are you kidding?  Certainly it can be surmised Sheriff Dipstick put the thought into Fuller's head to begin with.

Following Sheriff Dipstick's logic, it was he (Dipstick) who incited Fuller to hatred.

Where's the sheriff?

Submitted by Reaver on Sat, 01/15/2011 - 9:53pm.

“A Pima County Sheriff's spokesman told KGUN9 News…”

The sheriff wasn’t available for comment? That must be a first but perhaps not a surprise.

Submitted by motherbelt on Sat, 01/15/2011 - 9:49pm.

After a week of criminalizing  talk of being "armed (with information) and dangerous" and "targeting" certain districts for elections,  it will be interesting to see how the media  sanitize Fuller's "You're dead."

Sanitize?

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sat, 01/15/2011 - 10:48pm.

No way. He's going to be made into a hero for expressing his true feelings in the midst of overwhelming provocation by right-wing extremists. He's now a victim thrice-over: 1. Disabled veteran; 2. Victim of the shooting; 3. Hasty rush to judgement and arrest.

"Think about it", the MSM will say. "What would you expect from a stressed out shooting victim, after hearing that the tea party wants even more guns in the hands of lunatics? His 'You are dead' sign wasn't a threat -- it was an opinion of what might happen to anyone if more guns are allowed. More guns = more shootings, and even Tea Party members might be unfortunately caught up in the violence, just like our courageous disabled veteran was".

This guy thought he was going

Submitted by Ashrak on Sat, 01/15/2011 - 11:06pm.

This guy thought he was going to be an instant hero of the ultra left because he got shot. He thought that he would somehow be absolved of any responsibility for his actions and that media would protect him.  Looks like ABC is so far, but they look to be standing alone.

I can see why ABC would want to do that, after all, it was an ugly outburst by a very vocal leftist, ending up with a clear threat, at an event they themselves sponsored.

The ironic part - Some truth was exposed because they did. Now, if only they would admit it.

I Was Hoping...

Submitted by Tenebrous on Sat, 01/15/2011 - 11:27pm.

...really, that being wounded would make it clear who one's enemies are. But apparently even that can't make it through the iron-plated stupidity of liberalism. What will it take to wake liberals up? I think this past week gives strong evidence that nothing can dissuade a liberal of his or her beliefs, and that leftism is a parasite that continues gnawing at a person's brain until he is utterly deranged and attacks everyone around him, in one way or another.

You point out a very important factor here.  Fuller, a staunch Liberal finds himself in a National News story.  For days afterward, he's pumped up by the Liberal Left, and he sees Sheriff Dipstick as the "no fair heir" face of the story.

Now, to Fuller, the story's over if it's just a local Tucson loonie pulling that pulled the trigger, but he has all the liberal backing he needs to continue the falsehood his party has started.

We need to rise above all of this and just say, "Fuller obviously is in a lot of pain and still needs time to recover. We hope he gets the mental health care he needs." And LEAVE POLITICS OUT OF IT.

Fuller specifically voiced his belief that the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, et.al. were responsible for the killing.

He made it political to inject his own name in the news.

We are not merely speculating at this point.

Submitted by Ashrak on Sun, 01/16/2011 - 12:57am.

They can't risk that!  It sounds too much like "Kagan" and they might be haveing people think the rail is against a certain Supreme Court Justice. Seeing as how a judge is already part of the story being buried and set aside, and the gun control angle is already not working out so well, they cannot take the chance.....

Eric Fuller was looking for a fight BEFORE the shooting occured

Submitted by SharonMcP on Sun, 01/16/2011 - 2:52am.

From the NY Times

Mr. Fuller was also involved in a confrontation on Jan. 8, shortly before the attack on Ms. Giffords, which occurred at an event she held for her constituents outside a Safeway supermarket. He said in a long interview last week with The New York Times that he had argued there with a man he described as a former Marine after a heated discussion over politics. Gabriel Zimmerman, an aide to Ms. Giffords, separated the two.

Mr. Zimmerman was killed in the attack later that morning.

Mr. Fuller spoke dismissively of Republicans during the interview. “They appeal to simple-minded rednecks,” he said.

He said that he had had trouble sleeping after he was wounded and that he calmed himself the first night by writing down the Declaration of Independence, which he had memorized three decades earlier.

In the first days after the attack, his anger seemed especially strong. In the interview, he repeatedly denounced the “Tea Party crime syndicate,” and said he placed some of the blame for the shooting on Sarah Palin and other Republican leaders, saying he believed they had contributed to a toxic atmosphere.

He said he had expected to see protesters at Ms. Giffords’s event, and had planned “to shout them down because I can make a lot of noise.”

"Tea Party crime syndicate"

Forget the "fringe element" of the left. If you ask me, a vast majority of the entire leftist/liberal progressive movement is drunk on decades of getting their way and are now unhinged.

When he FIRST shouted your dead, should he have NOT been escorted out THEN?

Why was he allowed to STAY?

Sorry, there are Vetrans in the Tea party as well and I don't believe that gives them carte blanche to shout YOUR DEAD and take someones picture.
