Can't Make It Up: Dem Rep Who Opposes Photo ID To Vote Requiring Photo ID For Town Halls

This is Congressman Eugene Green (HT to an e-mailer), Democrat from Texas, telling the world that if you're not from his District, you're not welcome at his future town hall meetings -- oh, and how he'll enforce his new rule (bold is his):

This is how Gene Green has voted on laws relating to requiring photo identification to vote (from the web site "On the Issues"):

Any questions?

Oh, I do have a couple:

  • How many dozen other Congressmen who oppose voter ID laws are going to hypocritically enforce voter-ID rules at their town halls -- And does that mean that controlling their meetings is more important than controlling the voting process?
  • Will this be newsworthy to the establishment media, which would be all over this if Gene Green were a Republican, and which is scouring town hall sign-in sheets as you read this for evidence of out-of-district attendees?

Proving Yet Again

that for the members of congress, what's good for the goose is good for the goose.

Quack quack

dittos.

If nothing else, it has proved how inane these Congressional clunkers really are. They seem unable to either read or comprehend.

Photo ID is a state's rights issue

I understand. Gene Green believes in States Rights.

He feels that photo ID is something that should be required at a local level, not federally mandated.

Personally I think that photo id would be a good requirement for voting; however, even if all the voters in my area believe the same way, is it really an issue for the federal government to dictate?

is it really an issue for

is it really an issue for the federal government to dictate?

For a national election, I would say yes, but otherwise I agree.  It is an issue for the states.

I'm surprised ...

I'm surprised that these town hall meeting run by democartic congress members aren't restricted to just democratic voters.

Isn't that what Obama is trying to do in NH, restrict who gets in?

Remember folks, Freedom isn't Free. It was bought with the blood and sacrifice of the men and women who are serving and who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

For those who fought for it, Freedom has a flavor that the protected will never know.

Also remember folks, that the way to SUPPORT THE TROOPS is to support their mission. Anyone who says that they support the troops but don't support their mission is lying about supporting the troops. And if you want to know, yes I do have a dog in the fight, he is a United States Marine.

Photo IDs' required - Priceless

Photo IDs' required - That is simply "priceless," Tom.

One of the best kept secrets (little items the MSM keeps from voters) in America: Jimmy Carter, serving as co-chair on Bush's Election Reform Commission, came out strongly supporting a national photo ID. Media does not, so they don't talk about it.

Wow. Even a moron like

Wow.

Even a moron like Carter is smart enough to realize we need proper ID for voters?

Who would have guessed ?

Hypocrisy thy name is Green....

What a hoot!

I hope his own constituents go in there and bust his chops (figuratively!!) since he seems so certain that no one in his district would be anti-Obamacare!!

Oh, and BTW, Tom, I'm certain the rules will be bent for SEIU and AARP "representatives" who come from other places in order to "inform" Green's constituents.

Obama could have used the

Obama could have used the ID today in his Portsmouth, NH town hall. He called upon an 11-year-old girl -- who lives in Massachusetts.  Turns out this girl's mother was a coordinator of Massachusetts Women for Obama during the election.

So, why are Massachusetts people brought into New Hampshire?

Because this was a plant by Obama and his supporters, so that someone from the audience could point out that "people outside the town hall were holding up signs saying mean things" about Obama's health care proposal.

Is this ID requirement

Is this ID requirement designed to lessen opposition or designed to just reinforce and bolster their phony story that the town hall opposition is organized and imported from outside the districts? If it's the former, I think this hypocritical clown will find out that there will be plenty of opposition from his area. Good luck, Congressman - you're going to need it.

Is this going to work both

Is this going to work both ways? Or just for us thugs, but still ship in the Acorn mongrals to start a rukus. Just sayin

Mean Gene Green and his Obscene Screen Machine

Honorary La Raza member, I'm guessing?

If only there were one unbiased media outlet that would point out this epic hypocrisy. Other than NB, of course.

I work in Green's district

I work in Green's district (live in Ron Pauls) and there are thousands upon thousands of voters in Greens district that are against this so-called health care plan as we are in here. The little sliver of his voters for it represent mostly illegals or had lately been illegal and now supposedly are citizens.  Just look up the East side of Houston demographics and you'll see.

I think these idiots are in

I think these idiots are in for a very rude awakening.  Admission could be via a photocopy of the ballot with this guy's name checked on it and he's going to find that there are people who voted for him in the audience and are very PO'd about this healthcare bill.

VIdeo is worth a thousand words

Please keep us updated on how this turns out.  I for one would love to see them turning aways legitimate voters and letting in illegals and stooges who are only paid to attend and support this hack.

a sickening shade of Green

This story is priceless.

Nice Hawaii Drivers license...

Well when I vote here I must show my drivers license... The voter folk copy down my voter ballot NUMBER and I get to vote...

AKA Card check baby....

Reagan VS Liberalism

Who Checks the Checkers?

The last video I saw of a pending Town Hall meeting had all of the Democrat's operatives in the room being briefed and given handouts and signs.  The regular citizens stood outside demanding to gain access to the ''public'' meeting.

How many of those Leftists lived in the district, I wonder?  And, in the future, will Green allow out of district ''supporters'' access to the room BEFORE everyone is checked in?  Will there be a list of people allowed into the meeting that are not residents of his district?

An open public meeting should be just that.  I'm not showing anyone my ID unless I'm voting.

Playing checkers

That's what has me confounded. democRATS are usually very good at staging so-called 'townhall meetings' with such efficiency that you'd think that you are the only one in the whole country with a different opinion.

This campaign rally held today demonstrated that effective Goebbels-like mastery of propaganda.

"I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them."
George Mason

Sarge

Anyone with a brain (which leaves a couple of posters here out of the loop) knew well in advance that today was an Ersatz ''Town Hall'' meeting. It wasn't a Town Hall and it wasn't a meeting. It was, from the beginning, as you describe - a propaganda extravaganza.

Edit: Not a ''couple of posters here'' on this thread, but on this site.

Are they getting confused?

Or just plain projecting?

It's the demonrats that are ORGANIZING the HCAN, ACORN, OFA, SEIU members to come out in force for this nightmare.

It's the above that are PAYING people to protest the protestors!!!  And they have the nerve to call genuine anger "astroturf", and ask for proof of voter regs to speak to your rep?

These idiots have woken a giant and they will not be re-elected.  2010 will make 1994 look like small potatoes in comparison.  I think the people are absolutely going to push for term limits in the house and senate this time as well.

There is NO WAY IN HELL government would've grown this big without the concerted effort of progressive lifetime politicians on BOTH SIDES of the aisle.  The government is so far beyond the constitutional limits set up, that if one of the founding fathers were alive today, they'd think we were being ruled by imperial Britain...

The free market works, Government controls always fail.

       Just another

Just another member of the fool- pool we need to get rid of.                          Congress hasn't earned any respect.

Voter ID

I'll bet this congressman opposes voter ID during elections!!!
