Wow.
This unbylined Associated Press story (HT Michelle Malkin) doesn't really require any elaboration, except to note one thing -- It ends the debate over the existence of liberal/left media bias:

Exit question:
As the once mighty continue to fall (the latest being Minneapolis Star Tribune), what will the history books say about the relationship between the perilous condition of most of print media outlets and the seven years or so many of them spent suffering from full-blown Bush Derangement Syndrome?

January 16, 2009 - 01:46 ET by MidAmericaSo much of BDS is the angry Left boomers. They have been angry at their country almost all their lives. Bush is a sub for Nixon. Iraq is a sub for Viet Nam. Gays are a sub for the civil rights struggles. They still dislike the military. They still dislike the traditional nuclear family. They still dislike traditional religion. They still dislike corporations and big business. Really they just dislike America. and they are still rude, self-rightious and obnoxious just like when they were dirty hippie types back in the sixties when they wanted to bring down 'the man'. They love obama why? because they believe they have finally stuck it to 'the man' and took away his power. Power to the People!! Yeah Baby Yeah

January 16, 2009 - 02:03 ET by MidAmericaThe goals of the Left has always been a utopian fantasy.
John Lennon said (sang) it best:
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

January 16, 2009 - 09:58 ET by MrShyHey, don't be hating on the genius John Lennon.
Actually, while during his life he was indeed swept up by the "wave" of liberal thinking and "feeling", I think the man was too independent and brilliant of a mind to remain stuck on stupid into the 80's, 90's and now.
I can almost bet my savings on that. I have no savings, but, well.... :)

January 16, 2009 - 17:49 ET by MidAmericaOh I don't hate John Lennon at all. I'm a real boomer. Loved all kinds of music, even the anti-war and the drug songs. But to me they were music not something to live my life by. Just because we all are our brother's keeper I ain't keepin' some guy or gal that's too lazy or strung out to fend for themselves. The problem with the lefties, and it goes all the way back to Mr. Marx himself, is that true socialism can never work. Human motivations are not what their theories presume. The countries that we have ever called socialist are police states where a significant amount of the countrys military has it's guns pointed at its own people. Freedom and individuality are much stronger impulses than group identity and conformity.

That's rich.
Congress authorized the war in Iraq based on intelligence they'd believed ever since the 90s. What, did Bush take a time machine back to 1998 and convince Bill Clinton that Iraq was dangerous? No. The war was fully authorized under the Constitution.
So what's next, he broke international law by ignoring the UN? The same UN who imposed sanctions on Iraq for 13 years? You mean the same UN whose leadership was starving Iraqi people by abusing oil-for-food?
Wait just a second...I remember Clinton bombed Iraq without Congressional approval and against the vocal dissent of people like Trent Lott...conveniently on the very day the House was supposed to vote on his impeachment. And I distinctly remember the left saying nothing about it.
And then I remember Clinton exxagerating the situation in Bosnia for his own gain while the left said nothing.
So let's see here...Bush continues a decade-long war with Iraq by ousting Saddam once and for all to build a democratic government there (exposing the oil for food scandal in the process) and he uses intel handed down by Clinton to percieve a threat...and that makes him a criminal.
Meanwhile a president who actually lied under oath and actually bombed Iraq without Congressional support, that's no big deal.
Once again proving my point that double standards are the only standards they have.
Look sweetie, I know that ever since Clinton's impeachment yall have been on a mission for revenge, but this is getting a little tedious.
I'm a typical white person.

The House and Senate all knew this as well. My question is...How were they going to get rid of Saddam? "Oh please Mr. Saddam please leave your cushy palaces and millions of dollars. We really don't like you. Please leave."

January 16, 2009 - 10:14 ET by marpelI don't know who you are, but creatures like you prove that the left has absolutely no respect for a Republican administration because it doesn't follow your agenda (whatever that may be). I'm sure you feel warm and fuzzy when stations like MSNBC flash the Maoist-looking picture of Obama and with banners like, "Do you remember where you were when Obama got elected?"....
When Obama takes the oath, he becomes my President. Good or bad, I will show him respect. I will also voice my opinion respectfully if I disagree with him or his actions. I guess that's too much to ask of some liberals when a Republican President is in office. It's sad.

They've all been given a pass . . .
January 16, 2009 - 05:49 ET by JillCWsince Cecil John Rhodes forged the basics of the New World Order in the late 1800s. Every president of this nation has been under the control of those who want a new, improved Tower of Babel, including (but certainly not limited to) the departing President Bush. If they don't tow the NWO screed, they either mysteriously die in office or are assassinated or just lost the next election.
We are in serious peril in this nation. Those who carried on for eight years about Bush will one day have to take the Mark of the Beast or go into hiding until the return of the Lord. Believe me, don't believe me . . . but what we're now seeing with the libs in power is the final blow to this nation . . . the New World Order (globalized world) in real time. Get hold of the newest edition of Dr. James W. Wardner's book THE PLANNED DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA. In the first edition, there's a quote by Dr. John Coleman (former intelligence officer) regarding everything that's happened and will happen to this nation.
Under the rules of New World Order engagement, prior presidents are left alone. That's why Clinton was never bothered again after his hideous administration trashed America.

Gracious verses Immature
January 16, 2009 - 08:04 ET by richb313Whether you like GWB or not all would have to agree he is a most gracious man and his administration reflected that quality. His father also had that quality in spades. Both of them treated the office with respect. GWB in the recent days even remarked he had not even been in the Oval Office without being properly dressed (Suit and Tie) except for possibly one or two occasions.
Now counter that to Bill Clinton. His respect was such that he was able to get a BJ in the Oval Office. His staff ransacked the West Wing before he left office removing keys from keyboards and other such immature acts.
This is the biggets difference between the libs and the conservatives, and it is also the conservatives biggest weakness. When one side has no respect for anything and the other side does there will never be any equality regarding outcome. One side can lie with impunity and the other side is derided for thier long held reverence and respect.
Thanks to Newsbusters and other like minded sites and the free wheeling internet the truth cannot be squelched. I predict one of the things the new administration will do is try and tamp down on sites like this. It is in thier playbook. They will do it in the name of fairness of course.

the left has no respect
January 16, 2009 - 09:27 ET by SeashellI think that the problem with the left is that they don't really have respect for the office of the Presidency. Oh sure they love it when a liberal is in that position, and do all they can to promote him, but when a republican is the President they do nothing but tear him down. They try to embarrass, diminish his character, make him look stupid, etc. I didn't like alot of the stuff that Bill Clinton did, but I still had respect for the office and therefore, respect for him. It is hard, but I will do the same for Obama.
The left can't seem to find one thing that Bush did that was "praise" worthy. The fact that they are still alive doesn't deserve a "thank you"?
I used to watch
January 16, 2009 - 10:28 ET by Hunter12I used to watch Letterman. I liked his sense of humor. Then CBS gave him a ton of money. He started feeling guilty about it and turned into this wacko liberal. The bit, Great Moments in Presidential Speeches, was the final straw. They started with clips of past Presidents reading historic speeches from prepared text on the podiums in front of them and then they'd cut to President Bush in inpromptu moments at a press conference or such and ridicule his speaking ability. I guess he was supposed to be able to speak like Demosthenes off the cuff at any moment. I'm betting this bit will be gone after next Tuesday. Letterman doesn't have enough balls to ridicule a black man, as none of the late night comics do. None of them realize we can't be post-racial in America until they can see the funny beyond the skin tone. President Obama stinks as a speaker away from the teleprompter. The "umms" and "aahs" roll when he speaks extemporaneously and become painfull to listen to, and as he tries to craft his answer to his target audience, it is like watching a train wreck. You really don't want to see it, but you can't look away.

January 16, 2009 - 10:47 ET by Hunter12I am hoping President Bush doesn't completely disappear from the public scene, so we will probaly get clips ridiculing him wherever he appears for some time to come. Their problem is going to be that he'll be making speeches and attending functions with prepared text and he speaks as well as anyone when doing that. Last night he demonstrated graciously. I saw it as using his final stage to give recognition to some people who he felt deserved it. The leftoids are decrying them as props.

President Bush has been
January 16, 2009 - 10:43 ET by SmartypantsPresident Bush has been attacked from every direction over the past eight years. Some of this criticism was fair, but the vast majority of it was completely off-base and much of it was actually absurd. For most of this time, Bush took the abuse quietly (much to the chagrin of his supporters), believing the Office of President was above the fray. Bush took the high road. In the last couple of weeks, our president has actually been fighting back just a little bit, while still maintaining the dignity of the presidency. And the A/P has the nerve to tag this "back patting". As I posted yesterday, the left wing media will not allow a Republican president to come out ahead. If he says "up," they will swear that down was the right direction. If he says "stay," the story will be that we should have gone. If he is quiet, they will claim he is "aloof". If he speaks out, he is a boor. Meanwhile, Barack Obama says and does whatever he wants with nary a whisper of criticism against him. We've got Dems trying to sell Senate seats, caught on tape, and still alive to appoint someone to the post. Dems cheat on their taxes and it is an "honest mistake". Cheney sneezes the wrong way and he should be "locked up".
