Memo to Andrea and Eleanor: In Ohio, Not College-Educated Women Are Supporting Obama

On August 31 at Newsbusters, Warner Todd Huston caught NBC political correspondent Andrea Mitchell's assessment about the kind of women who would be supporting the McCain-Palin ticket:

..... they (McCain-Palin) think that they can peel off some of these working class women, not college educated, who, the blue collar women who were voting for Hillary Clinton and may be more conservative on social causes.

Combining Mitchell's take with the statement by Eleanor Clift (noted by NB's Brent Baker) that "in many newsrooms" McCain's pick of Sarah Palin was "greeted by "laughter," you get the distinct impression that the media believe that women who are supporting McCain-Palin aren't very smart.

The Mitchell-Clift Maxim isn't passing the smell test in Ohio, at least if the results of the University of Cincinnati's Ohio Poll released earlier today (a PDF can be retrieved at this link; HT to NB commenter Dee Bunk) are to be believed.

The overall results show McCain-Palin up 48% - 44%, which is barely outside the poll's 3.5% margin of error. The demographic results based on education level contradict the Mitchell Maxim in a major way:

  • Those with less than a high school education favor Obama by 63-32.
  • Those with a high school education favor Obama by 49-42.
  • Those who have some college education favor McCain by 52-37.
  • Those who have a college degree favor McCain by 50-44.

There's no breakdown between males and females within education level, but it's hard to imagine that McCain is getting a majority of women in the first two categories.

As a resident of the Buckeye State, I can say informally that this result seems to conform to reality.

What was that you were saying, Andrea and Eleanor?

I think the two were saying

Open mouth insert foot.I hope they have tasty shoes. To be truthful I never pay attention to those two. They are just shills.

The good news is that when

The good news is that when McCain/Palin win the election, these two media twits will say "Yes, Mame," and "No, Mame", when they address her. They will stand smartly at attention when she enters the room, and thank her if she so much as looks at them. And they will begin combing their hair like Gov. Palin does. This is gonna be so much fun to watch.

The major media report only half the news. Why are they surprised they have only half the potential audience?

lol

I will bring the popcorn.

I'll bring the butter and

I'll bring the butter and the party hats. ;+}

So it would seem people must be taught in school that the Nanny-State is good.  Otherwise, they feel a sense of responsibility for their own well being.

It's "Brave New World"

Your "nanny state" comment reflects that we really are turning into the dystopian view of society painted in the book, "Brave New World."

Read it.  It's frightening how close we are.  Frightening.

In fact, my husband and I re-read these books this summer:

  • Brave New World
  • Fahrenheit 451
  • 1984
  • Animal Farm
  • Lord of the Flies

They're all pretty quick reads, and I'd recommend everyone read them.  You realize that each author had great insight into our society and its strengths and weaknesses. Each book is like getting out a mirror, looking into it, and seeing that the view is not always pretty. To the contrary, the view can be frightening.  And I'm amazed how close we are to many of these dystopian views.

Yay!

Well, at least Obama has the Ohio Dunkin Donuts employees votes locked up.

If that's all he has, Obama

If that's all he has, Obama is in more trouble than previously thought.  Ohio has all of about 50 Dunkin Donuts in the entire state.  It's not like New England (I know, I just got back to Ohio after living in NH for a year) where there are 10 Dunkin Donuts within a square mile.

Did you say Andrea Mitchell

Did you say Andrea Mitchell was in Maxim?

Roger,

Perish the thought. [shudder]

Mitchell Doesn't Need A Memo

Mitchell doesn't need a memo.  She's has something better.  It's called liberal stereotyping.  Liberals like to assume that conservative Republicans are nuckle dragging neanderthals with a southern accent.  Her preconceived liberal notions carry more weight than the facts.  So don't bother her with the facts, her mind is already made up!

Mitchell is a twit. Palin

Mitchell is a twit. Palin makes her uncomfortable that is why she says the things she does about Palin. Since I have been voting I have never seen an openly biased network such as NBC and MSNBC. It seems to me that most of the people that work there have a liberal agenda. They seem to think that we are incapable of electing our presidents.

Pro-choice Female Plaintiff's Attorney Supports McCain

Newsflash:  I'm a pro-choice female plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm voting for McCain-Palin.

Obama is a Socialist and I would not vote for him in a million years.

I cannot abide someone else speaking for me, or generalizing about a segment of voters.  Let folks be individuals.  Let folks make up their own minds.  There is much danger in stereotyping large groups of people.

Nonsense

I have a college degree, am pro-choice, female and voting McCain/Palin. So I guess these two wonder twins can't just lump us all in together.

Also noteworthy - twice as may McDem's as Obamican's

Only 5% of Republicans crossing over but 11% of Dems are and where is their cute made up term for defecting Dems?  This is happening everywhere and the media don't mention it.
