Of All the Pics CNN.com Could Have Used ….

.... for its item on John McCain's age, it picked this one from the Associated Press:

Alan Silverleib's article also contradicted itself within the space of just a few sentences:

Roughly one-third of respondents in most recent national polls say that McCain's age could impede his ability to effectively govern the nation.

These percentages are in line with historical trends. Approximately one-third of voters expressed similar concerns about Bob Dole's age in 1996 and Ronald Reagan's age in 1984. (Dole was 73 years old in 1996. Reagan was 73 in 1984.)

The importance of the age question may be magnified this time around because it threatens to sap McCain's support with one of his most critical constituencies: older Americans.

What? If the poll percentages of those concerned are the same, why is the concern bigger this time? Sliverleib may simply assume that the "magnification" is there because those over 65 probably make up a larger percentage of the electorate than 12 and 24 years ago. But it may also be that medical and tech advances have caused the many over 65 to recognize that 71 really isn't that old if you take care of yourself, as it appears Mr. McCain has.

wishful thinking

Many of these stories are a push to get people to agree with the author. It sounds to me as if he is hoping people agree with his premise that someone can be too old to be president, which by the way, has absolutely nothing backing it. No stats, no data, not even a poll to support his hope that people will believe McCain is too old for the position. In fact, if 1/3rd thought Reagan was too old when life expectancy was lower then what hope do they have of making the case 28 years later? Obviously ageism is okay and racism taboo during this election season. Who is going to be the first to celebrate the advances of our older generation in making a contribution in our society- wont be the liberals for the next few months, that is for sure! No one seemed to question Strom's ability to serve well into his 90's because he was a democrat.

It's obvious Obama et al

It's obvious Obama et al are trying to make McCain's age an issue. Well, perhaps we should make Obama's age an issue as well. As far as I'm concerned, he's too young and too inexperienced to be POTUS. The constitutional age minimum of 35 was set when the country was young, small, and a minor player in the world, and in a time when human longevity was not what it is today. Personally, I don't think anyone less than 50 should be allowed to be POTUS.

Many of our very best presidents were elderly, with Reagan being perhaps the best case in point.

Well, It is NOT as BAD as the ...

Mental Picture I HAVE of CNN. Now there is an Organization that has OUTLIVED it's Usefullness.

This this isn't inadvertant, It is beyond BIAS, This is Deliberate editing.

At the same time it so obvious as to be laughable.

It seems to be a Desperate act of a sinking Corporate entity.

Obama is  too immature,

Obama is  too immature, too inexperienced, too left wing, too soft on security, too much in favour of high spending and high taxation.

Flowery rhetoric-devoid of sensible economic policies- is useless.

MORE AFFIRMATIVE ACTION 2DAY

CANDIDATES AND CHURCHES

Notice today (June 15th), Fox news announces with video clip…”BHO spoke at (in a black) church today?”
===Obama’s (PULPIT) appearance at the Apostolic Church of God was his
first address to a church since he ended his membership at Trinity
United Church of Christ, where he had worshipped for 20 years,
following inflammatory remarks there by his former longtime pastor and
others.===
No ACLU, no outrage by the media… yawn, democrat “business as usual”.
Can we expect JM to speak inside ANY churches this summer? Well, can we? Why not?
There “is no double standard”…just ask the libmedia.
Will any “panel” discuss this difference? Make it the daily topic?
Hence goes the 2008 campaign..more “affirmative action” for democrats.

If he hasn't released his birth certificate, how can we sure how Obama  is?

Obama is  too immature,

Obama is  too immature, too inexperienced, too left wing, too soft on
security, too much in favour of high spending and high taxation.

Yet, he'll probably win.

Yay, Democracy.

Il y a la merde quel remort produit quand il a mange trop stupidite.

Oh he may win but he will

Oh he may win but he will also fail because he is an extreme liberal.  Liberal/socialism aways fails because it doesn't work.  It's based on theories about how people should react to life and work rather than how they actually react.  Socialism assumes I will work for everybody elses welfare (even for those who choose  not to provide for themselves) even if I have to sacrifice the comfort of me and my family.  uhhh.... no

Look at historical facts!

Through the 19th century and into the 20th century, male life expectancy was maybe 60 years, even less during some decades. But Washington took office when he was 57 years old; John Adams when 60; Jefferson, Madison, Monroe and John Quincy Adams all in their late 50's; Andrew Jackson was 60. I'd prefer McCain was five or ten years younger but in no way do I think he's too old for the job. On the other hand, no way will I vote for a minor Chicago machine politician whose resume could fit on the back of his driver's license, regardless of his youth and vigor.

Employment Discrimination

Employment Discrimination laws seek to prevent discrimination based on race, sex, religion, national origin, physical disability, and age by employers. There is also a growing body of law preventing or occasionally justifying employment discrimination based on sexual orientation. Discriminatory practices include bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination, compensation, and various types of harassment. The main body of employment discrimination laws is composed of federal and state statutes. The United States Constitution and some state constitutions provide additional protection where the employer is a governmental body or the government has taken significant steps to foster the discriminatory practice of the employer.

Perhaps any news organization or political party that uses discriminatory practices against a candidate who belongs to a protected class of individuals can be sued in a court of law.  ....or..... perhaps if one party is free to discriminate against a candidate belonging to a protected status then the other party can also use discriminatory action and speech against the opposing candidate.

Mid AM ....I like that point....age Descrimination..

Make Sure certain MSMs get a Copy of the "Law of the NON-GITMO land".

  Bringing up McCains age

Bringing up McCains age with no evidence of an age related disability is just age discrimination.  It's similar to asking questions about obama's middle name, hussein and leaving the readers or listeners to read into it that he is a Muslim.

McCain is four years younger than Ted Kennedy and hasn't had brain surgery.  Where are the calls for Ted be relieved of his leadership posts because of his age and health?

Obama is too young, too inexperienced

To cover up for their candidate of choice, CNN goes after McCain's age. I guess they forgot how old Reagan was and how quickly the hostages came back from Iran (1 day), how the Berlin wall fell, how troops were wisely used by Reagan for special missions, and how Reagan worked to "get government off of our backs".

Indeed, the Reagan years were some of the best years for this country, despite his age.

Obama has little knowledge, wisdom or experience, but McCain has much knowledge, wisdom and experience, which reminds me of this saying, "Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is really a fruit, not a vegetable, but wisdom is not putting a tomato in a fruit salad."

Obama will mess this country up worse than merely putting a tomato in a fruit salad, because he is way too unknowledgeble for the job.

What?  No outrage for the

What?  No outrage for the doddering old ex Klu Klux Klan Exalted Cyclops and Kleagle "Sheets" Byrd, senator, West Virginia?  I am shocked I tell you, shocked!!!

By the way, Byrd is the oldest member of Congress at 91 years of age; he is also the longest serving senator in the senate.

As President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Byrd is third in line for succession to the presidency behind Vice-President Cheney and Speaker Pelosi.

One of Byrd's many sage quotes, "Electrocution is not a beautiful thing."  In 1947 Byrd wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia... [and] in every state in the nation."  He personally filibuster the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for 14 hours along with other Democrats.  He opposed the Voters Rights Act of 1965.

Yet, with all of the above, our author seeks out Senator McCain as being too old? I guess the assignment wasn't to find who was the stupidiest most racist senator . . .

Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds." - Robert Byrd

 Take a hike, Obama!

Shows Obama's Case is Weak

To me this big push to focus on McCain's age shows they really have no good arguement against him being qualified to be President. If the only negative thing you can say about him is that he is too old, you don't have much to stand on. And if people claim they are worried about the next President remaining healthy, then maybe they should worry about Obama, who smokes regularly. He might get lung cancer in a year or two.

Funny this "Obama, who

Funny this "Obama, who smokes regularly" is never mentioned and furthermore no pictures of Obama smoking are published.

Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.

Obama A Smoker

The liberal press has NO PROBLEM making personal attacks against John McCain's age.

But when it becomes public knowledge that Obama is a smoker who continues to struggle with it.  Suddenly the media will call it a personal attack and off limits to debate.

I'm no fan of McCain.  I knew that the press would turn on him the moment he became the Republican nominee.  Now it's happening.  McCain has no money to get his message through the liberal media barrier.  It's over for McCain and it will be ugly in November.  Already polls are showing him falling behind Obama.

I have to admit, this is a

I have to admit, this is a very unflattering picture they managed to find. They might as well put a caption underneath it that reads: "Eh, what did you say, Sonny?"
