Former ABC Host Joy Behar Lays Into Chris Christie To His Face: 'You're Toast, Okay?'
Joy Behar, the grating liberal feminist comedian, left ABC’s “The View,” but she’s still being obnoxious. At an April 1 roast celebrating the 90th birthday of former New Jersey Gov. Brendan Byrne, a Democrat, Behar went straight to Bridgegate: “When I first learned he was blamed for blocking three lanes on the bridge, I said ‘What the hell is he doing, standing in the middle of the bridge?”
In a subheadline, Time magazine blamed Christie for failing to enjoy it: “The New Jersey governor appeared to have a sense of humor failure as the former host of The View joked about his ongoing bridge scandal.” As you might expect, Christie shot back (video below):
Ryan Lizza of The New Yorker, who posted the video, recounted the conversation this way:
After another barb, Christie interrupted her. “This is a Byrne roast,” he said. He stood up and tried to grab her notes. The audience laughed awkwardly. “Stop bullying me,” Behar said as he sat down. Christie said something out of earshot and Behar responded, “Why don’t you get up here at the microphone instead of being such a coward?” Christie stood up again and moved in front of the lectern as Behar retreated.? “At least I don’t get paid for this,” he said.
This is the part Time magazine loved, as Behar shot back: “Let me put it to you this way, in a way that you’d appreciate: You’re toast, okay? ” Their headline for their usual liberal readers was: "Watch Joy Behar Tell Chris Christie: ‘You’re Toast’."
Lizza reported Behar was "rattled," and she clearly tries to put her dukes back up.
“Not that I care. I don’t give a shit,” she said. “I don’t care how pissed off you are about these jokes, Governor, because first of all, you can do the worst you want with me. I’m taking mass transit home.”
