Maddow Begs Media to Ignore Fast and Furious: Just Another 'Paranoid Delusion' Like Sherrod Scandal
In a ten-minute rant on her show Thursday night, Rachel Maddow tried to explain the long NBC and ABC blackout of “Fast and Furious” scandal news by somehow tying it to the Shirley Sherrod controversy. The American people should move along, since this scandal is only a “paranoid delusion” and shouldn’t be covered by anyone other than Fox News. It should be carefully quarantined.
The graphic behind Maddow read “WHAT YOUR UNCLE WHO WATCHES FOX NEWS ALL DAY IS ALL WORKED UP ABOUT.”
Maddow began: “The great Fox News conspiracy about Shirley Sherrod, the racist, that nobody else was covering, was, in fact, a paranoid delusion of the conservative movement and the conservative media machine. And so now, we find ourselves, a couple years later, facing another test for the news media. Do you take the bait again? Do you follow the latest Fox News conspiracy theory?”
If you watch MSNBC all day, you and your uncle think there's a vast conspiracy called the "War on Women" and a plot to deny black and Latino people the right to vote in swing states. You might also be outraged daily that the Boy Scouts doesn't yet have gay scoutmasters teaching twelve-year-olds a merit badge in government-subsidized contraceptive techniques.
Alongside Mother Jones and other left-wing journalists, the MSNBC host claimed that blogger Michael Vanderboegh was the evil genius who uncorked this whole "cuckoo for Cocoa puffs" conspiracy theory for Fox News, and concocted the notion that the Obama administration engaged in gun walking to make a case for gun control inside the United States:
MADDOW: This is not some weird, boggy offshoot of what the Fast and Furious scandal is. This is what the Fast and Furious scandal is. This is it. It is a conspiracy theory on the right that President Obama is secretly trying to take away all your guns. That's what it was. They created this program was actually started by George W. Bush as a means of upsetting people about gun violence and their abolishing the Second Amendment.If you watch Fox News, as your source of information, you marinate daily in conservative media and that is your source of information about the world. This has been drilled into your head over and over and over again.
Fox News is now apparently conspiring to force the rest of the “real media” into covering this non-story:'
MADDOW: Just like with the Shirley Sherrod story. Fox News has been very upset that they haven`t yet been able to bait the rest of the real media into following this crazy conspiracy theory of theirs yet, and they are starting to overtly bait the mainstream media into covering it and they are starting to lash out and blame people who do not cover it yet.
BRET BAIER: NBC Nightly News is playing some serious catch-up, because the network news show has only mentioned the failed gun tracking program, "Fast and Furious," once for a few seconds since the scandal broke last year. Keep in mind Attorney General Holder has testified before Congress no less than nine times.
MADDOW: That was a host named Bret Baier on Fox News last night. He`s supposedly one of the straight news, no opinion anchors on Fox. That’s the same Bret Baier incidentally whose news program has been identified the militia-blogger guy, the throw-bricks-through-their-windows guy whose conspiracy theory this is. He’s been identifying him as an online journalist helping out with their coverage of the "Fast and Furious" scandal.
If you put the name “Vanderboegh” in the Fox transcript file on Nexis, you’ll find one appearance in a William LaJeunesse story on July 8, 2011 – just one. He's not exactly a Fox News regular contributor, as Maddow implied.
Maddow concluded; “This is a test. This is a test. We have been here before. We know how this ends. News media of America, you are getting baited to cover this story that Fox and the right have cooked up in their own special cockamamie marinade for more than a year now. Are you going to swallow this one, too?”

If you choose to take the high road, and be above the trench fighting - all well and good.
Consider, though, that maybe not everyone sees it your way, and if they don't - your message may come across as either preachy, which we get enough of from liberals, or as a lecture from someone, who, if indeed a fellow conservative, shouldn't be acting like a hall monitor or running some type of politically correct judgment game.
If a female is sexually oriented toward, and involved that way with another of the female gender, the word lesbian describes those in that situation.
The word is not considered a curse word; nor is it one that has an "X" rating attached to it.

Read my part about how certain behavior feeds into the strategy the left uses to discredit the right and sidetrack (to stop) very legitimate debate. For example, media bias. Maddow is a partisan hack, no doubt about it. There is tons to use against her. If you, or anyone else, uses anti-gay sentiment, the conversation then becomes about that, and not about her very real media bias. The left does it all the time. Unfortunately for us, they know they can count on even just a very tiny few to still unwisely throw out some anti (whatever...gay, ethnic, etc) remarks, and they take it and run with it. Let's recall why Rep. Darrell Issa and Sen. Chuck Grassley, and their respective committees, got involved in this scandal in the first place. You see - they got involved because it was a disgraceful scandal - not to make it a scandal.
From the very beginning - from the moment that the ill-planned and inevitable botched operation was uncovered - those in the national MSM felt the hair on their back stand up, as it was uncovered for all to see that the US Department of Justice, under AG Eric Holder, was involved in suppressing the truth, preventing those willing to go public (and to testify) about the scandal from doing so and were involved in a cover up.
These are the little things in life that usually get the likes of Rachael Maddow all worked up (things in a wad - like that).
How soon we forget what a few brave reporters were investigating and reporting on, only one year ago. Unfortunately, they must have received pressure to tone it down - while others, like Brian Williams at NBC nightly news, has never been interested in reporting news that might be uncomfortable for Democrats.
A few excerpts follow (my bold):
July 19, 2011 - Los Angeles Times, Richard Serrano - Justice Department trying to shield officials in guns scandal, ATF chief says -- Kenneth Melson, the ATF's acting director, claims Justice Department officials refuse to release a telling internal report on the Fast and Furious operation

The Justice Department is trying to protect its political appointees from the Fast and Furious scandal by concealing an internal "smoking gun" report and other documents that acknowledge the role top officials played in the program that allowed firearms to flow illegally into Mexico, according to the head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Kenneth E. Melson, the ATF's acting director, also told congressional investigators this month that the affidavits prepared to obtain wiretaps used in the ill-fated operation were inconsistent with Justice Department officials' public statements about the program. Justice Department officials advised him not to raise his concerns with Congress about "institutional problems" with the Fast and Furious operation, Melson said.
"It was very frustrating to all of us," Melson told congressional investigators in a private meeting over the Fourth of July holiday, "and it appears thoroughly to us that the department is really trying to figure out a way to push the information away from their political appointees at the department."

Although he would beg to differ that he doesn't have the ability to influence the major media markets as Maddow inferred. But Mike is the blogger that broke this story and where we are today in large part because of his tenacity and bulldogedness in working this story, long before any mainstream media gave it the time of day. The "Obama wants to repeal the 2nd Amendment" is a figment of the liberal imagination projecting our side of the story. However, it's the LEFT who are calling for the repeal, yes?
Slyrr merely pointed out that it was a commie wet dream. It's what sycophants on THE LEFT WANT. Not what we on the conservative side of the bench are calling Obama's primary motive.
What we do believe, however, is that Obama & Holder were looking to bolster their faux claim that 90% of the guns in Mexico were American (ergo sum, apologies, it's our fault on the Obama Grand Apology Tour). This little statistic, which has been bandied about by top administration officials (including Her Royal Clinton), has been debunked a zillion times.
Furthermore, we believe had F&F gone undiscovered, that the administration would have manufactured a resulting "crisis", which would have been used to restrict OUR rights of gun ownership with more liberal wet dreams of onerous gun restrictions.

No one is suggesting Obama wants to "repeal" the 2nd amendment. There are a lot of people saying that he is adverse to gun ownership and would, if unchecked, impose much stricter regulations on gun ownership. One of those people saying this is a guy named... Barack Obama.
A synopsis:
Just because things didn't work out as planned, doesn't mean he didn't plan from day one for two terms, knowing that he'd be able to push more of his radical agenda in a second term. He indicated that to Dmitry Medvedev. There's no question that Operation Fast & Furious was designed to offer Democratic Congressmen and Senators the impetus to push for greater gun regulation. In fact, they have done so already; almost a year ago.

Followed by this, 'Recounting a March 30 meeting between Brady, her husband Jim and White House Press secretary Jay Carney, The Post reports:

Then there is this description of Croley, "The buzz-cut gun owner with sharp cheekbones and a genius for regulatory law is, according to multiple advocates, on a “listening tour.” Now, Horowitz can be forgiven for swallowing the party line that Croley is a "gun owner", but he did stumble on a nugget of truth, that Croley is a "genius for regulatory law". That's been the idea all along, from taggants to ammo restrictions to magazine restrictions.
And the last sentence in the WaPo article? "In Croley’s book, he argued that for all the healthy skepticism, in a complex world, regulation still amounted to “the least-worst solution to pressing social problems.” So, it seems that the Prez's point man on guns believes that the gun shoots itself, no human is responsible. Regulate the guns, no crime.

I pulled a "Munro" and thought the article was finished at the end of the first page. The quote was indeed on p. 3.
However, I did catch a troubling aside near the conclusion of the piece. Even Cheney!! is apparently supportive of restrictions on clip sizes. I mean when you've lost Cheney, you've practically lost the entire Bill of Rights.
