Violent New Sitcom Promises to Mock the Crucifix, Smear Cheney as Akin to Hitler, Stalin
Via Breitbart, we learn that the Independent Film Channel (IFC) has a new sitcom in the works they’re touting/warning is the "most violent sitcom ever made." It’s called Bullet In The Face. Then comes the politics.
In addition to the “unrestrained shootings, peppered with wildly offensive language, IFC is apparently concerned that the use of a crucifix as a backscratcher and dialogue grouping Dick Cheney in with the likes of Hitler and Stalin will be misconstrued as something more than an attempt at some very dark, inappropriate humor." This kind of story is usually more of an advertisement than a warning.
How is it still “edgy” to smear Cheney with a Hitler/Stalin brush when Obama’s been president for almost four years? We’ve seen Hollywood shove at America the the “Lil Bush” cartoons, the Assassination of Bush documentaries, the ridiculous Oliver Stone fictionalizations, the Valerie Plame-promoting “docudramas,” the dozen-plus anti-Iraq flops...and we will probably never see the “dark humor” mocking Obama. That would be racist, apparently.
Starring former professional hockey player Max Williams, the series is centered on a German assassin who has, for some odd reason, become a cop, and is now caught between two mob bosses. The blog Screen Rant says "Bullet in the Face has reportedly been found so potentially contentious that, in an effort to avoid being the target of certain parental and entertainment watchdog groups, the network has had difficulty placing it on its schedule. According to Deadline, Spencer acknowledges Bullet in the Face has made executives at IFC nervous, but that the network remains supportive."
Spencer stated: “IFC came to me about developing a half-hour action comedy and it somehow turned into the most violent sitcom ever made. But the IFC team has been very supportive. One episode featured beheadings and their only note was that the heads be tastefully handled. [The show] did make some people nervous, but mostly over how to position it. A show where people get shot in the face multiple times isn’t compatible with repeats of Malcolm in the Middle.”

It wasn't even "edgy" back then, but it's all they know.
Ditto the disrespect for Christianity.
Hollywood liberals haven't had a new idea in decades.
If they really want to be edgy

How about mocking Islam? It's bull that they are "nervous". When has a network ever gotten real flak from anti Christian or anti conservative programming?

Well they do get grief from Bozell and Bill Donohue, but they write that off as "whining" because, you know, Christians are the only group who get "offended" when made the subject of jokes. \sarc

Motherbelt. And I can't believe that a Hollywood communist would disrespect dear uncle Joe by putting him with the likes of Cheney. Disgraceful. I wonder why we never see movies about the evils of Stalin and his Soviet communist murderers? Now that would be an original movie. This show will be more mindless crap of course.

"Edgy", right. Liberals mocking those who are long out of power, or religions that won't send a suicide bomber to their door step. Yeah, right, sure.
Why is it that I am convinced that these idiots/liberals don't have a clue that real "edginess" in Hollywood would be something that illustrates the stupiity of liberalism, or something that shows how BHO is actually a fascist wannabe, or that Moochelle is a control-freak nazi/nanny?
What's the matter, boys, afraid you won't get invites to the right parties?

I used to watch Bravo before IFC was around because of the number of independent films they showed. Then when Bravo went all homo-all the time, I was glad to see Independent Film Channel. Slowly I saw them showing only films with a leftist/Amerikkka is bad theme. Finally it got to where they were showing only the same 4 or 5 films in a given week.
Once they became IFC it was almost unwatchable. This programming move will cause me to block the channel, like I did Bravo, lest I accidentally give them a ratings boost.
sounds like they wil be competing with Current TV for

Is there some bizzarre competition going on that is secret? Is there a group out there trying to see how much money they can get for a "series" that the least amount of people will watch?
Comparing Chenney with Stalin and hitler is soooo main-stream liberal these days. Meanwhile we have the NYT that touts a classified leak about how the current President oversees and personally picks targets on a "kill list" that the CIA uses for their drone strikes.
So to me this is going to be a live actor version of Family Guy. It does however seem continue the liberal theme of death being "funny" and life being worth nothing.

Would realize that people want to be entertained without thinking about politics and all of the damage liberals have done to the USA maybe they would sell more tickets at movies and have more viewers for shows. The problem is they inject their politics into everything including movies and shows and Its a huge turnoff to the audience IMO. Liberals try to use their position, especially in Hollywood and pop culture, to brainwash weak minded people into believing the lies. Very similar to goebbels. Ironic?
Do you really

I am not saying I agree with any or all the conclusions of this piece - but could it be that the Left wants one sort of programming and the Right wants another?
Could it be that there is a market for both?
For instance I don't watch the highly touted NBC comedies, which are, to your point nothing more than a political vehicle for the Left.
But I do watch shows such as Deadliest Catch or Wicked Tuna or Gold Rush. There are shows that do appeal to viewers who lean Right.
Just a thought.
Yes

I think they would, I agree there are shows that are probably geared more toward right or left, but wouldn't It be nice to just be able to watch a movie? Not a right or left movie? That's why I think movies like the lord of the rings are so successful, people go there to forget about all the garbage and when Hollywood constantly jams politics down people's throats I think that Is part of the reason why their sales are down. That and they make crap for the most part.

Is there an app for that? I mean, like, I'm really trying to keep up with the liberal-MSM-SUM meme that urges us to not hate on people like Gabby Gifford with violent images and all that, but, geez, I get so confused by shows like this.
Is there an app to help me keep which kind of violent speech is bad speech and which kind of violent speech is good speech (or at least literature)?
Sigh. Please tell me how to think, MSM-SUM

The thing is, there are SO many things they could say about Christianity that is funny AND non offensive.
Seriously, when you compare the funny factor of those things and the things liberal humorists say about Christians and religious people, it's like they don't CARE about being funny, just about being as obnoixios as they can.
Examples: "I believe there is something out there watching over us. Unfortunately, it's the government."
-Woody Allen
"An apology for the Devil: It must be remembered that we have only heard one side of the case. God has written all the books. The Bible may be the truth but it's not the whole truth and nothing but the truth. - Samuel Butler
"We make our friends; we make our enemies; but God makes our next-door neighbour." AND
"The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because they are generally the same people. " - both by GK CHESTERTON
There is a gold mine out there, seriously.
Another by the Chesterton dude. This one isn't religions, but I just thought I'd throw it out there:
"It is terrible to contemplete how few politicians are hanged."
