Ed Schultz Wants Canadian Citizenship?
Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer reports that after mocking Michele Bachmann for having dual citizenship in Switzerland through her husband, MSNBC star Ed "Buy American" Schultz proclaimed on his daily radio show that he's going to apply for Canadian citizenship.
"I'm going to go down the road of being a Canadian," he proclaimed. "I'm going to do that, because I want to. It's not 'cause I don't dislike America." That's how it came out, sort of Biden-ish [audio and transcript below]:
ED SCHULTZ: Holmey, this is the best story I've had in a long time because now the righties, because I eventually am going to get dual citizenship. I'm going to go down the road of being a Canadian. I'm going to do that, because I want to. It's not 'cause I don't dislike America. [yes, he actually said this]
It's just because they're in our hemisphere, we're in a global economy. Now let me tell you the real truth, they have health care, we don't! And I pay taxes up there and so what the hell! Why not be a Canadian too?
JAMES HOLM (PRODUCER): That's it, you're paying taxes in both places. So it's not like you're dodging taxes ...
SCHULTZ: That's right!
HOLM: ... by having a Canadian fishing lodge.
SCHULTZ: That's right.
I'd suspect after the Bachmann mockery, there's a tongue in the cheek. After all, do Canadian unions offer speaking fees as lucrative as the American ones?

I have some in-laws who are Canadian and they have come here more than once for health care because of either cost or because of time (at home they were told to 'wait' for treatment). I haven't gotten into it too deeply. . . . .
So if Canada's universal health care is so great, and our private health care is so bad, why come here?
I have Canadian citizenship

There are things that make it worth living in The Bay Area as Noel can tell you but I realize that businesses that employ people could not care less about nice scenery and weather
It's a shame
Submitted by Unsane on Sun, 05/13/2012 - 9:10pm.
Nice scenery and weather are meaningless when you live in a place with a government which is overwhelmingly hostile to business. Nice scenery and weather or none, people still gotta eat...

You moved to CA "to get away from high taxes and big government?"
Son, you really need to do some research before you move again for that reason. You could have moved to France or Greece and come out better than CA.
Moving to CA to avoid taxes is like moving to an Arab country to avoid violence, or moving to FL to avoid beautiful women!

"I'm going to go down the road of being a Canadian."
What, is becoming a Canadian a long, involved process or something? A Long and Winding Road?
Of course, there is that language requirement in which you have to show that you have the ability "to understand basic spoken statements and questions, and to communicate basic information or respond to questions." After hearing you murder the English language on air for so long with all your incoherent rants and raves, I suggest you take the French language test. It may be easier for you.
"Now let me tell you the real truth, they have health care, we don't!"
There's a perfect example of incoherency. America doesn't have any health care? Wow! My doctor would be surprised to hear that! So would my sister, who's an RN.

Hey Ed, stand your ground and become a citizen of Canada. Remember what you wish for......Canada's current government is a "Conservative" one. My thoughts are that he wouldn't dare say that he'd become a citizen of Cuba, Venezuela, or Russia because that's too obvious.

So we have the "centrist" LIBERAL party (who's kinda down in the dumps lately), the 'flaming liberals', (the NDP - the "official opposition"), and the "Liberal Lite" party, a.k.a. the "conservative party", who really 's more "progressive" than the liberal party!

With my sincere apologies to my Canadian friends...
Mr. Schultz, just fly into YVR. When I last processed through CBSA there, I noticed that off to the right there was a place for new immigrants to Canada to go to. And I am sure the Canadian government would be more than happy to oblige, as they desperately need new tax revenues...
Interestingly, I saw an article (didn't have time to sit and read it unfortunately) there in some newspaper screaming about how Canada needs 1 million new immigrants. (The fact that Nanny States have low birth rates for a reason I am sure was left unsaid. Anyways...) Here's your chance, Ed! Head on up and go annoy the Canadians.
