WashPost Promotes 'Liberal Hero' Elizabeth Warren on Page One, Buries Indian Gaffes Deep Inside
On Monday’s front page, The Washington Post promoted “liberal hero” Elizabeth Warren, the Democrat looking to retake the “Ted Kennedy seat” in the Senate. “Stakes high as liberal hero tries to unseat GOP senator,” read the headline. On Sunday, the Post’s Chris Cillizza said Warren had the “Worst Week in Washington” for her muddled answers to claiming she was of Native American heritage in professor jobs for a decade.
But it wasn’t the “worst week” in the Post – they ran no news story on the controversy until Monday, but in this Karen Tumulty story, it was completely buried until paragraph twenty:
Instead, the story opened at an AFL-CIO breakfast in Lawrence, Massachusetts, selling that odd-sounding concept, the Harvard professor/populist: “She was standing Friday morning on the site where, 100 years ago, immigrant textile workers launched a bloody two-month walkout that became famous as the Bread and Roses strike.”
“They attacked collective bargaining...they’ve attacked pensions. They’ve attacked wages. They’ve attacked health care. They have attacked unions. They have attacked working families,” she said of conservatives (or as Tumulty put it, “Wall Street and their political allies.”) All that was on the front page.

If you ever wonder whether the newspapers carefully calculate where to break up their stories to go off the front page, the words "AFL-CIO breakfast" were the first words buried inside in the Tumulty piece.
Inside, the headline was “Liberal icon aims to oust Sen. Brown in Massachusetts.” (At least there's an actual ideological label next to "hero" and "icon.") Tumulty touted her as “the whip-smart daughter of a cast-strapped maintenance man and a mother who worked answering phones for Sears.”
She also suggested the Post spin could be on the losing side: “Whether that will sell against Republican efforts to define her as a Harvard elitist and an anti-business extremist, however, remains to be seen.”
In paragraph 20, the spin on the native-American scandal was in the subhead: “A stumble on ancestry.” Some Democrats were concerned, but Tumulty had sympathy for the “liberal icon” on this one:
By November, voters may well have dismissed it as a minor flap. But the fact that the story is still being talked about more than a week after it broke (it was on the front page of Saturday’s Boston Globe) reflects Warren’s clumsiness in handling it. She claimed, for instance, that she had listed herself as Native American in a legal directory for nearly a decade because she wanted to “meet others like me.”
It also overshadowed embarrassing developments for Brown, including his acknowledgment that even though he opposed the new health-care law, he takes advantage of a provision in it to put his adult daughter on the family’s insurance policy.

If Warren were a Republican there would be no discussion of anything but her clumsy and ridiculous performance on the Native American controversy.
She is clean and articulate, errrrrrr

MB the only discussion would be HER DROPPING OUT OF THE RACE if she were a Republican.
This would have been a bigger story nationally, but...........
I totally agree

It would've abruptly ended her campaign. Certainly, if Scott Brown had claimed to be a Native American on such weak geneological evidence, he'd be toast. The Democratic Senators would be demanding that he apologize on the floor of the Senate.
Instead, the MSM -- so enamored with Warren -- gives her a "by" on the controversy, hoping that it will not prevent her from winning back "Teddy's Senate seat.

Living in Massachusetts I thoroughly assure all of you NOBODY HAS ever referred to Squaw FullaBull as a Liberal icon - maybe a typical Liberal liar.
No proof of her supposed 1/32nd Indian heritage and that aside, SHE LIED about what she did, what she knew and when she did it and Harvard of course is lying for her.
They have ONE Indian minority listed as a perfesser as of today and Warren NOR Harvard will say if that is her so the answer is YES to that.
She considers herself a minority with the possibility of 1/32nd Indian blood.
Sorry Tumulty, just her having lady parts isn't going to get her elected NOR is it going to allow her to LIE over and over.
Brown following the law and Squaw FullaBull LYING, yes, that is the same thing.
And HOW?????

Why, you racist, you!!

She said she only did it to get to meet all the Cool minority kids and go to those great Native American parties
Yep, and if that didn't come across as patronizing . . .
Submitted by Galvanic on Mon, 05/07/2012 - 11:21am.
. . . I don't know what does. It's typical white liberal BS. She further explained that she dropped the Native American identity when "those opportunities just didn't happen," or to put it another way, when she no longer needed it to open doors.
Has anyone in the MSM gone to the tribal leaders of the tribe she claimed to be descended from and asked if she qualifies to be a member? If Brown's campaign staff is smart, they'd do it.
Meanwhile, I'm declaring myself to be African-American. To those who would challenge that, I say follow my logic --
- Do you believe in science?
- Do you accept the evolutionary scientific evidence that the first men appeared in Africa?
- Do you accept that over millenia, mankind migrated from Africa to Asia and Europe, and eventually, Australia, the Pacfic, and the Western Hemisphere?
- Ipso facto, all human beings share a common African heritage, and I choose to identify myself as African-American.
Great minds MB.......................

Looking at Ms. Warren's wiki profile, I see that the dear Chief Warren has ONE LESS failed marriage than Gingrich! Nothing there about any Tiffany's accounts. Her first spouse was Warren. She is currently married to Mann. But she still uses her first husband's name? Her maiden name is Herring. She should be called Chief Red Herring! From far away lands.
(A red herring is a figurative expression in which a clue or piece of information is or is intended to be misleading, or distracting from the actual question. Example: Checking Native American on your application when you are not, is misleading.)
Math Quiz: Claiming 1/32 Native American equals 0.03125%. That means Chief Red Herring is exactly 99.96875% PALE FACE!
Let's not elect a red herring to the Senate seat. Recently, she blamed Scott Brown for attacking her on this subject. And she demonstrated the liberal sexism dodge... "Scott Brown, 'the man', is picking on me, 'the humble little woman' routine," while running around telling everyone how strong a US Senator she will be for the little peeps, and the children...
The truth is, her statements are being questioned by a media that her party does not control! And Chief Red Herring wasn’t expecting such challenges to her statements and actions. So she finds herself in a deep hole, which she continues to dig even deeper with her forked tongue!
More from her wiki page: Is Hilary Rosen in the house?
“After taking several graduate education courses, she (Ms. Warren) realized she no longer wanted to pursue education as a career. By this point she and Jim had moved to New Jersey, and she was pregnant with their first child, so she stayed at home for several years.”
What would Ms. Rosen say of this scourge? She STAYED AT HOME and did NOTHING for several years! Raising a kid must be as worthless for a democrat stay at home mother as it is for republicans like Ann Romney, right? (Soon, Scott Brown will be to blame for her staying at home...)
In 1977, while working out of her home, Warren was contacted by Rutgers-Newark and asked to fill an open teaching position, which she accepted... (over a genuine minority perhaps?)
We need to see that application to see if she "checked that box" to get the job. What was her "working out of her home" job? Would Rosen approve of it? We also need to know what kind of tuition breaks/grants she may have gotten for falsely claiming a minority status. That would be theft, and fraud of the US Government’s taxpayers.
In 2009, the Boston Globe named her the Bostonian of the Year, except, she ain't a Bostonian. She's an Oklahoman brown-bagger. Trying to brown bag Scott Brown... (Visions of TEA Bagger slurs come to mind...)
(Chief Iron Eyes Cody? Italian. Not even 1/32 Native American, but he did have high cheek bones!) And Chief Red Herring has also called herself a "hick" to get the elite "hick" vote in MA. Still haven't figured that one out yet...

Of course Limbaugh said the Washington Compost would circle the wagons immediately, and release polls saying she has caused no damage to herself. I'm sort of happy, because they can't pull a Toricelli and replace her when their internals show she will lose with fawning coverage like that. If the Compost told the real story, the party would be looking to replace her.
BTW, Breitbart said yesterday regarding Barney Frank's seat: the Republican Marine has a 20 point lead over the Kennedy.

If the liberal agenda called for it the Washington Post would proclaim Pol Pot and Stalin the greatest peacemakers the world has ever known. They would declare them heros to the massed (except the dead voters of course) and demand that they be worshiped as demi-gods of liberalism.
