Eleanor Clift Mourns HBO's 'Veep' Is Caught In a Post-Palin 'Time Warp'
HBO premieres the comedy “Veep” tonight, which Newsweek’s Eleanor Clift wrote up as another pre-baked HBO shot at Sarah Palin: “Veep was in development in 2010 when the aftertaste of the Palin campaign was still lingering, and insider accounts revealed just how unprepared Palin was to step into the presidency, should that be required.”
Sadly, suggests Clift, now the show may undermine women in politics as a whole. “But in the midst of an election cycle where no female is on the short list for vice president, and women’s groups are silent on the subject, Veep seems caught in a time warp.”
"Palin has moved on; she’s now dropping by the Today show. Politicians are fearful of what’s called 'the Palin effect,' shorthand for advancing an attractive female politician too fast and too soon," Clift wrote. "The portrayal of Selina as the veep enhances the Palin effect, and is likely to produce a collective cringe from a generation of women who still wish for Hillary Clinton in the White House.”
Unlike "The West Wing," "Veep" simply "looks back, elevating a Sarah Palin–like figure to the vice presidency with a narrative that relies on one-liners that provoke uneasy laughter and expose the smallness of the veep’s vision."
Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Selina Meyer, whose party is not revealed, but it doesn’t take long to determine she’s a liberal version of Palin, identified with clean-energy jobs and filibuster reform. The titans of Capitol Hill are wary of this woman crashing their party, and Meyer doesn’t inspire confidence. Ideology aside, she has a high dingbat quotient. Think Elaine from Seinfeld, scattered and a bit bizarre, and a heartbeat from the presidency.
If liberals ever nominated a woman with a "dingbat quotient" for the vice presidency, would liberal journalists ever notice? Or is being liberal mean never having to say you're sorry for being a dingbat?

The 2008 election showcased a very talented, proven woman candidate for VP on one side and a completely unexperienced, man on the other. Each was running for different offices yet women like yourself couldn't see the hand in front of your face for swooning over the first White-Black to be a party's nominee.
You and your harpy sisters have done the damage to women candidates, if in fact any has been done. I'd rather vote for any of 4 or 5 Republican women right now then the men left in the running. They know how to "fight like a girl!"

"But in the midst of an election cycle where no female is on the short list for vice president, and women’s groups are silent on the subject, Veep seems caught in a time warp."
Geeze, could that be because the Conventions haven;t even been held yet and the candidates, including Obama, haven't reveled just who will be their running mate?
"Veep was in development in 2010 when the aftertaste of the Palin campaign was still lingering, and insider accounts revealed just how unprepared Palin was to step into the presidency, should that be required."
Humm, it's been nearly four years since Palin first ran as VP, and McCain is STILL alive, so what happened to the "one heartbeat away" we kept hearing about? We're at 141 million, 268 thousand heartbeats, and still counting.

Liberals have a hierarchy of victims who they protect. Top of the list are Blacks, then gays, then Hispanics, then women, then unions. Clift's causes need to be more than just women if she wants to get any love from the modern liberal. Palin's "unforgivable sin" is that she went against the #1 liberal victim.
Money trumps all of these, which is why Bill Maher gets to be such a twit. Also, any chance to bash Christians, especially Catholics, cannot be passed up.
If you think about liberals this way, it would explain why Black-on-Black or Black-on-anybody else crime is unnoticed. But George Zimmerman is a "White-Hispanic" who must be crucified on the modernist, progressive altar; why Ann Romney and Sarah Palin are open to derision from liberal, elite, White men, but Michelle Obama cannot be properly criticized for her blatant hypocrisy.

It's a bit circuitous, but Joe Biden says black kids are stupider than white kids, so the black kids' parents vote for Joe Biden.

All he did was make an excuse for Washington DC school failure, compared to Iowa because DC has more black kids than Iowa.
What you can't deny was that he asserted the problem with DC test scores is black kids.
Flail to your heart's content. He said. He meant it.
Come on, Jer. Deny Biden identified the black population of DC as the factor.

why should I deny it now. IT IS A STATISTICAL AND AN EMPIRICAL REALITY which Biden recognized.
That does not mean, however, blacks are "stupider" than white kids, nor is that what Biden claimed. There are many reasons--sociological, historical, cultural, attitudinal, economic--which can account for and/or contribute to the generally lower test scores by black kids. "Stupider" is your word, not Biden's.

Yes, "Sarah Palin is stupid". Funny how they intentionally forget the Palin e-mail dump. They thought they would find all sorts of proof of Palin's stupidity & corruption, but once they realized those emails showed a thoughtful, capable executive running her state for the betterment of it's citizens, the subject was were quickly forgotten.
I recall reading that SDI was part of a plan by Reagan to bankrupt the Soviet Union, and of course it worked. I keep wondering if Sarah Palin has been trying to make Liberals bankrupt their agitprop operations by appearing to run for President in 2012, then backing out after they spent all this money on unnecessary hit jobs.

Ms. Clift has a very small prospective on life. When you are discussing someone as limited as Eleanor Clift what else can you expect. She has a very limited intelligence and no idea what is happening outside her very small dimension. She lives in a extreme far left liberal world that only has a very, very small interaction with reality. She has no credibility but likes to pretend that people still listen to her (it is good for her ego).
