Thom Hartmann: Trayvon Killed by Koch Brothers, NRA, and Wal-Mart
Liberal radio host Thom Hartmann came unglued over Trayvon Martin on Wednesday, blaming his death on...the Koch brothers.
"A young man died," he declared. "A young man died a violent and unnecessary death because the Koch brothers and other right-wingers and large corporations in America decided that it would be a really cool idea if they got together and wrote laws that they would then give to mostly Republican legislators in state legislatures all across the country at meetings twice a year of the so-called American Legislative Exchange Council." He also blamed the NRA and Wal-Mart:
The so called stand your ground and shoot first laws, brought to you by the NRA and Wal-Mart, peddled to state legislators, Republican state legislators, by the American Legislative Exchange Council, ALEC, funded by the Koch brothers. That’s pretty amazing, when you see a fairly direct line from right-wing billionaires funding front groups that are actually writing our nation’s laws to a dead kid in Florida.
In the second hour of his program, he debated Alan Korwin of Gunlaws.com, and added some racial craziness: "The point is that white people in this country now feel [that] if they've got a gun now they've got the power to kill black people and not have to answer for it. They've felt that way for a long, long time, but these kind of laws put it on steroids."

And because of them, it's likely that a law abiding town-watch member is still alive and a developing criminal punk isn't.
While no one yet knows exactly what happened in Sanford that night, I've seen enough through researching various sites to form the belief that poor little innocent Trayvon was simply a punk who turned on the wrong guy.
The LSM have covered up his multiple suspensions, his drug use and distribution, his grafitti and probable theft of jewelry or at the least receiving stolen property (which is why he was suspended and in Sanford in the first place).
I've seen the timelines and maps of the area where the shooting occured. I've heard the 911 call (un-edited by NBC or other LSM outlets). I think Zimmerman called in the 911 call, started to follow poor little innocent Trayvon, lost him in the complex, was returning to his vehicle, was confronted by poor little innocent Trayvon, who acted as the punk he seems to have been, and was assaulted by the teen. His only recourse was to pull his weapon and fire, both to defend himself and to keep poor little innocent Trayvon from grabbing his weapon and probably using it on Zimmerman.
If the NRA and all those other heinous conservatives hadn't help craft the Castle Doctrine and associated laws, Zimmerman would most likely be dead now. Old Thom actually IS corect, but not for the reason he "thinks" (for want of a better word). Of course, there's no such thing as the "shoot first" law. That's just more moronic liberal stupidy leaking out and splatting against the wall to see if any will stick. But myself, and every other Floridian I know or have heard about, are more than happy with our benchmark self defense laws.

The stand your ground laws only reinforce the right of self defense. They do not advocate shoot first. Go somewhere else with your twisting of the truth. If you don't believe in self defense come down here in the ninth ward of New Orleans and spend the night. If you survive you'll change your mnd by the time morning comes.

I was saying this moron was right in that the NRA and some corporations WERE responsible for effective self defens laws. But where he was slamming it, I was applauding it. I clearly stated that because of Florida's Stand-Your-Ground laws, Zimmerman is still alive and this teen (who was probably responsible for the violent conclusion of this incident) is not. If it had been left up to politicians, we wouldn't even have town-watch, let alone concealed carry permits, stand-your-ground laws, or the Castle Doctrine.
I am a card-carrying NRA Life Member. I cover my desk at work with at least a year's worth of America's First Freedom magazines. I am a concealed carry permit holder. I am 100% FOR stand-your-ground. There should NEVER be a situation where a law abiding citizen should fear to use whatever force is necessary to defend themselves and what is theirs. I'd go even further if I had the power - Once someone cimmits a crime, they no longer have ANY rights, and anything their victim does to them is not only allowable, but ENCOURAGED! I also clearly stated that there is no such thing as a "shoot first" law or provision.
Next time, how about reading my entire post before accusing me of twisting the truth or hypocrisy.
