Randi Rhodes Compares Clarence Thomas to Scalia's Family Dog

By Tim Graham | March 31, 2012 | 11:37

A  A
Tim Graham's picture

As liberals lecture about deep-seated American racism, liberal radio host was slamming Justice Clarence Thomas on Wednesday. After playing a soundbite of Anthony Kennedy, she said, "I mean, he's thinking out loud and this what they do right -- except for Clarence Thomas who doesn't think. At all."

Thomas, she joked, was just like a dog: "Whatever Scalia does that's what he does. Well, Scalia's got a cashmere scarf....I want a cashmere scarf! Oh, Scalia's going over here, I wanna go, I wanna go, I wanna go! Take me, take me! He's like Alan, he's like the dog. Take me! Oh, you're going out for a walk? I wanna go, I wanna go! Scalia's walking, I want to walk, I want to walk!"

Then she compared him to the late Michael Jackson: "Never asked a question -- this is like his trademark now! Do you know what I mean, like Michael Jackson with the one glove, right? It's a trademark, it's a kitschy thing, it's cute, it's adorable. This is a sign of a very incurious mind on our Supreme Court -- a job that only goes to nine people in the entire world, and they pick this one!"

And they call conservatives

Submitted by ant on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 12:01pm.

And they call conservatives 'stupid'. This seems to always be the level of insight, facts, and legal knowledge we can expect from liberal commentators.

Ask a sample question, "By what authority can the federal govcernment force citizens to buy a product or service?'

Liberal answer, "Michelle Bachmann's a stupid bitch."

And so it goes on.

Randy Girl doesn't get it...

Submitted by neutron on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 9:53pm.

Clarence Thomas is one of the greatest legal minds in America. His silence speaks volumes to this:
(1) As a Supreme Court Justice, he knows that only his opinion is of primary importance, and his discussions with the other Justices of secondary importance. The opinions of the oral arguers are irrelevant, since they are not a Justice.
(2) Asking questions can be construed as
(a) I need help understanding this
(b) Can you clarify this in your brief.
(c) I need to show how smart I am... (see Breyer questions)

(1) is self-explanatory.
(2) (a) Justice Thomas is well versed in Constitutional Law.
(2) (b) If the brief is unclear, then like an unprepared student, the brief fails. No further explanation is required. Good brief or bad brief, you get one shot to file.
(2) (c) On legal matters, Justice Thomas does not seek the approval of anyone but his God and conscience. Even noticing the bad comedic attempts of Randy "Hard Scrabble" Roads is beneath his dignity.

The Jurists Are Out On Obamacare

Submitted by berlet98 on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 12:29pm.

The Jurists Are Out On Obamacare

Speculation is ripe on how the United States Supreme Court will rule on the constitutionality of the Preservation of Access to Care for Medicare Beneficiaries and Pension Relief Act of 2010, the ultimate title of what most Americans know as Obamacare.

Signed by President Barack Hussein Obama on June 25th, 2010 after extensive late-night machinations, bribes, and add-ons, the bill was originally titled the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act by the Democrat Senate. It was apparently changed in view of the fact there were few patient protections in the 2700 page monstrosity.

Obamacare is not affordable by either patients or the nation but they had to call it something palatable. It’s not known whether any Dems ever read it before they passed it.

Anyway, nine individuals–six men and three women, (six Roman Catholics, three Jews, no Protestants)–are now empowered to secretly decide the fate of a law which applies to almost everyone in a nation of 313,274,338 souls, comprised of 51% protestants, 25% Catholics, 1.7% Mormons, 1.2% Jews, and 21% of other persuasions including Muslims and atheists.

Without suggesting that either the personal faith or gender of the justices will dictate their decision, the religion of the justices is cited here in light of the legislation’s already-obvious impact on religious beliefs of Catholics and other Christians and the widespread discussion of a presidential candidate’s religion for the first time since 1960.

Gender is relevant because the statistical reality is that far more women seek health care than do men and the new law will directly impact the practice of abortion in the country.

Not all of us are affected by Obamacare, however. It won’t be fully implemented until 2014, by design, long after this year’s election. Millions of “exemptions” have been doled out to favored special interests groups, labor unions etc., which didn’t like the legislation anymore than the rest of us but had the political pull to opt out.

Federal government employees, including the president, his family, and Congress, are also exempted, a fact which says a great deal about Obamacare, none of it good. . . (Read more at http://www.genelalor.com/blog1/?p=20091.)

I've heard this same stupid claim

Submitted by Demonhunter on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 1:34pm.

I've heard this same stupid claim from at least 10 leftist "deep thinkers", and I hear it repeated endlessly in discussions on the Court. It is absolute ignorance.

I can point to several decisions written by Thomas that exceed Scalia's thinking and argument. However, there is one clear cut case that every liberal has no excuse to be unaware of. In the California medical marijuana case, Thomas voted against federal jurisdiction while Scalia voted for it. Thomas wrote that opinion stating that it was not covered under "regulating interstate commerce".

That indicates to me that these baseless attacks are based on racism rather than just ignorance.

It's Race, Plain and Simple

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 6:08pm.

Thomas is at the top of the food chain, when it comes to successful blacks who have managed to escape the liberal plantation. His real life story is amazing, and something that should be taught to every student who goes through public or private schools. He should be a hero to all Americans, but particularly the black community. He should be a role model, instead of constantly denigrated as an Uncle Tom or Porch Monkey or Steppin Fetchit, all names that I have heard liberal black people refer to him as. And that's 100x worse then being called the N word.

I read Thomas' autobiography only a few years ago, and "amazing" is truly the right word. this guy started out literally barefoot in Jim Crow Georgia, and rose to become a Supreme Court justice. I recently tried to get a liberal friend of mine to read it, and she could not even bring herself to pick up the book and look at the cover. I wonder if she realized that she was afraid to find out that the focus of her hate might not be so awful after all!

Much Smarter

Submitted by allouchsit on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 1:35pm.

Having read a number of opinions written by Justice Thomas I can assure everyone that he is much smarter than Randi Rhodes. He understands the basic structure of our federal government. Randi, not so much. He understands that Congress's powers are few and enumerated. Randi, not so much. He understands that people who are not in a particular economic market are not subject to regulations of that market. Randi, not so much.

Randi Rhodes and Clarence Thomas

Submitted by Netstatter on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 1:36pm.

Well, what can we say? Should we parrot Randi Rhodes's line about jobs on the Supreme Court but say "...(a job) on our Supreme Court -- a job that only goes to nine people in the entire world, and they pick (Ruth Bader Ginsburg or Sotomayor or Kagan) !". I know that talk radio hosts try to gin up conversation, but this is really low and racist of Randi Rhodes. Such talk does nothing to improve race relations in this country. I'd even maintain that liberals have done immense harm to race relations over the years by putting people into colored boxes and treating minorities as though everyone else wants to victimize them. Do that enough times, and people of every race will develop an "us against them" mentality.

Submitted by killa37 on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 1:56pm.

From what I've heard and read, Clarence Thomas has been doing the yoeman's work on investigating this whole BFD Obamacare fiasco - to a point where the libs wanted him recused, because his wife is also involved on her own end of it, My youngest brother lives near the Thomas', and he knows the wife, and has met Clarence. He speaks highly of both of them.

Randi Rhodes' only claim to fame is that she is giving a bad name to a late, great guitar player.................other than that, she is more lightweight than helium, and even more immature than her man crush, Boy Baraka - if that is possible.

The one that should have recused herself is Kagan. She was the Solictor General when the plan on how to defend Obamacare was formulated. If the plan the current SG presented to the court is any indication she didn't do such a hot job. All during the arguements you never heard a liberal talking head tell that she should have stepped down.It made me sick to hear her cheerleading for Obama by correcting the SG.

Case in point: Rhodes should by all account be accused of making a demeaning comment towards a black person. But because he's a conservative, she's not considered racist.

If she made the same point about a white Justice, the same result: no consequence.

Therefore, logic dictates that Clarence Thomas, in the mind of liberals, is white!
