WashPost's Aaron Blake: Conservatives Are 'Divisive,' Liberals Are 'Demonized' by Republicans

Local DC conservative talker Chris Plante announced that Washington Post political writer Aaron Blake on Wednesday had “just exposed your own bias” for this sentence as he delighted in Newt Gingrich’s high unfavorable ratings: “Sarah Palin, even at her most divisive, never saw her unfavorable rating rise above 60 percent in the CNN poll. And even when Republicans were demonizing Nancy Pelosi in the runup to the 2010 election, her unfavorable rating never climbed beyond the high-50s.”

Palin was “divisive” in the active voice, while Pelosi was passively demonized by Republicans.  Blake began by citing a joke from Al Franken as a “fun fact” of some kind:

A CNN/Opinion Research poll on Monday showed 63 percent of All Americans viewed Gingrich unfavorably, compared to just 25 percent who saw him in a positive light.

And today, a new CBS News/New York Times poll shows a similar split: 54 percent view Gingrich unfavorably, compared to 16 percent who say they feel positively predisposed towards him.

Those 38-point spreads between his favorable and unfavorable ratings are a new high for Gingrich in the 2012 campaign and tie his worst numbers from 1997, when he faced ethics troubles and a GOP revolt during his time as speaker of the House. (Fun fact: now-Sen. Al Franken joked in 1996 that Gingrich’s “favorable rating is only four points higher than the Unabomber.”)

Blake seems like that outlandish joke, but remember, this is the same jerk that went on Twitter to beg "Hey Tweeps: looking for outlandish/incorrect predictions and quotes from Newt Gingrich's past. Any ideas for me?"

That`s because Democrats are "DEMONS" of the highest order, Satan`s warriors of social destruction with Brown Shirts. What is your favorite color Mr. Plante?

⇒ Liberals are not demons

Submitted by Cool Arrow on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 11:08am.

They are demon worshipers.  The sacrifices at the Altar of Molech are never left unattended.

They don't call it demon worship, but what else but such an influence could provide the rationalization for the goodness of the daily slaughter?

Yes, they'll throw back with "same thing with war", but that comparison also requires an insidious measure of rationalization.

The democrats are always dividing people into various "victim groups". How is that not divisive? And they never demonized Bush 43?

Good thing Democrats don't

Good thing Democrats don't demonize. Not even when a Democrat Congrsswoman literally calls Republicans "demons". No demonization there.

If Sarah Palin was devisive,

Submitted by winston smith on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 11:42am.

If Sarah Palin was divisive, she certainly deserved to be based on the year long, smear campaign conducted against her and even her family complements of the "main-stream" media. Even when Sarah correctly pointed out that certain sections of the "health care" bill are suggestive of a beureaucratic death panel, she was quickly denounced and demonized by members of the media.

Whereas with Nazi Pelosi, she can go before the cameras and state flat out lies and falsehoods about the Tea Party, saying they were "carrying swastikas" and yet the media who are so laser-focused on every persnickety detail and inconsistency in Palin's statements, they will barely bat an eyelash at the wretched deceit of Pelosi.

What they say, or what they don't?

Submitted by Huapakechi on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 11:04am.

When a member of the (extremely) liberal press is attacking Newt Gingritch by citing his poll numbers when he was under attack for "ethical violations" (75 charges, no convictions) to his current poll numbers among a select and weighted "research poll" (questions and polling data not provided), and then citing one of the most radical and inept senators (from my state, forgive me See george soros 'secretary of state project') to bolster his argument, I see nothing less than a member of the screaming monkey coalition attacking someone they perceive as a threat to the entire screaming monkey tribe.

What prompted the filing of 75 charges (74 entirely without merit) against the then Speaker of the House of Representatives?  This requires a peek past the "throw enough mud and something will stick" tactics that were utilized.  What is not mentioned anywhere that I have read is that Gingritch committed the ultimate sin of attempting to force Congress to abide by the same laws it foists on the citizens of this nation.  This earned him the enmity of every sitting member of Congress.

The fact that members of Congress have only recently been called to task for reaping millions in profits making stock trades involving industries for which they were writing regulations is only one indication of the endemic corruption of both houses of Congress.

Don't believe what they tell you unless you can independently verify, and use at least three unconnected sources.

The main question is not being asked....

Submitted by jdripper on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 11:30am.

What the devil ever inspired Newt Gingrich to enter this race? That is the main question to be asked. His staff immediately got fed up with him and left and he had enough baggage that when he travels he has to charter a 747 to haul it to his next stop. He had to have known this would happen, but for heaven's sake what was Gingrich thinking?

He knows how lazy and undisciplined he is. He knows that not one campaign staff member for all of his election in the House stayed with him. What was going through his mind?

Democrats Excel At Cut & Paste

Submitted by HardRightTurn on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 11:52am.

All they are doing is taking what the right says about them and replacing the words left, liberal and Democrat with right, conservative and Republican. Not one ounce of originality, counter charges without one shred of proof.

Conservatives are divisive and demonizers?

Submitted by CO2Maker on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 1:21pm.

Every time someone opposes one of the president's policies, the Greek chorus of ChrisEdRachelMartinTamronMattLarryetal sings its doleful dirge: Racists, homophobes, anti-immigrant racists, killers, misogynists, racists, assassins in waiting, racists, homophobes, patriarchal oppressors, racists, homophobes.

That's not divisive?

I must have not been paying attention in school when they taught long and short divisiveness.

Liberals are demonized because they....

Submitted by stage9 on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 11:47pm.

are demonically inspired. What else would cause a perfectly rational human being to want to murder a baby in its mother's womb? or seek power to control the lives of others? or to speak with such heinous and vicious speech? or criminalize conscience?

Liberals can continue to play the victim card, but they're not victims, they're manipulators.
