Both-Ways Bill Press: Ban All Guns, But Hurray for Teen Mom Who Shot Home Invader?
Listeners to the Bill Press radio show on Thursday morning -- and there were probably not very many -- must have winced at the complete political schizophrenia or logical incoherence of the self-proclaimed "Mr. Gun Control." Press asked the audience if 18-year-old Oklahoma mom Sarah McKinley was right to shoot a home invader armed with a knife to protect her little boy? He said "damn right" -- and explained how he also favors banning all handguns and "assault rifles." So, um, how would Knife-Threatened Teen Mom defend herself in Bill Press's ideal America?
"I gotta tell you I am Mr. Gun Control, okay?I think there are too many guns. They’re too easy to get. Most people don’t need them," Press declared. "For hunting only I would say as long as they’re licensed and you know how to use them, that’s okay. But for any other reason, I would ban all handguns. I would ban all assault rifles. I’m as strong as you can get." [MP3 audio available here]
"We ought to have background checks at gun shows and at every gun shop and not allow anybody who’s had any law enforcement, any legal problems with the law, or certainly any mental problems. I mean just make ‘em [gun laws] as tight as you can across the board," Press proclaimed.
And then he added, "But in this case? Boy, (exhales) I think absolutely she did the right thing!"
He blathered on: "I’m sure it wasn’t easy for her....Talk about a cool, calm, collected cucumber. Who had called 911 first, not shoot first and then ask questions later. First, call? Very responsible thinking on her part, and I applaud that 911 operator, too....Damn right she did the right thing!"

The answers can be found in the very helpful summary you linked. There is a hodgepodge of rules and requirements and exceptions which vary from state to state, one of which, for example, is a distinction between parental "notification" and "consent".
Obviously there are certain cases where parental involvement might be inadvisable. Those instances--a minority--require strict judicial intervention and supervision however.

I think "pro-abortionists" is a loaded, biased term--not to mention "pro-murderers". For example, even Bush was on record as supporting abortions in certain instances. Did that stance make him a "pro-abortionist" or "pro-murderer"?
As far as NARAL, NOW and Planned Parenthood's position on ultrasound, I'm not sure. My guess would be that they viewed it as less an effort at imparting medical knowledge than a component of an ongoing political campaign to dissuade women from following through with a decision they had already reached--not unlike recording license numbers, locating addresses, and sending emotionally-charged letters to PP visitors and potential patients--or congregating near clinics to hector them with signs and shouts of spiritual doom.

It is not loaded terms. These are words that speak the truth of what people are supporting. Biased? I don't think so. Again, they speak the truth. The term "pro-choice" is a cheap euphemism, just like "women's reproductive rights", used to make people feel good about what they are supporting, abortions and the murder of a baby, of a human being whose only "crime" is being inside the womb of a mother who does not want him/her.
As for your claim that individuals hector women with signs and shouts of spiritual doom, hmm..care to provide evidence that this is main stream pro-lifers? I have protested across the street from abortion/murder clinics, our protests always consist of praying the Rosary and many other prayers. Never once in the 20+ years I have protested infront of a baby murder mill have I seen what you claim. Never once have I seen anyone who was heading to kill her baby be shouted at . I am unsure where you get this from. I have seen and experienced rage from pro-aboritonists who come across the street and verbally abuse us, some attempt to take away our signs, which have pictures of cute babies, others of the carnage of a baby aborted, others of ultra-sound. We have had old men and women spat upon, punched, pushed and us younger guys who are built having to pull people away and make citizens arrest while others call the police. We now take video cameras and record everything.

If you want to see real violence, which the media loves to not report, do research on the internet on pro-choice violence. On NOW, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, etc having the government use RICO laws to attempt arrest and destroy the life of pro-lifers whose crime is to pray infront of an abortion clinic and hand out information of what an abortion is and pictures of what the mother to be is about to kill. This was so extreme when it happened that even Martin Sheen came out against the use of the RICO laws to attempt to prosecute pro-lifers.

Ironically, Press praises this woman for defending herself, but in states that have no "castle law" which grants a homeowner the right to defend one's home, there's a chance this woman would be charged with a crime. Where I live (Maryland) if I were to shoot an intruder inside my home and it turns out the intruder didn't also have a gun, I'd be the one going to jail.
Another outspoken gun control advocate was the late TV reporter, Carl Rowan. He thought all guns should be banned. Then one night Rowan caught some teenagers skinny-dipping in his backyard swimming pool and he shot at them with an unregistered handgun. Aside from the fact that the penalty for skinny dipping isn't death, Rowan perfectly illustrated the hypocrisy of liberals on this subject. Rowan (resident of Washington DC) was charged with possession of an unregistered handgun and ammo. Rowan said he thought it was OK for him to have the gun because it belonged to his son who was a former FBI agent. Yeah, tell it to the judge.

How do these liberals justify pushing away and hiding any information that conflicts with their belief system?
For decades (at least as far back as the 70's) the LSM has been burying the real world police records fact that American citizens use firearms more than a milllion times a year to stop a crime. Yet not one peep out of the LSM. They don't even try to trash the number. Thousands of crimes committed with a firearm, millions of crimes stopped by firearms.

will never admit that places that have the strongest gun laws have the most gun crimes. Forget the name of the town in Georgia(USA) where everyone is required to own a gun. They haven't had a gun crime in something like 50 years. Their motto is an armed society is a polite society. Incidents like this young lady was involved in happen everyday, they're just not reported in a biased media. The Second Amendment ensures that I have a right to own a firearm to protect myself. That's it, there is no argument......From my cold dead hands...
As for all the abortion stuff above....If I was a woman that got raped and incidentally got pregnant through that crime, they couldn't cut that thing out of me fast enough. If a government told me I had to bring that fetus to birth, I'd say that is a government with way too much power over me as an individual. For some reason even in the face of stories like we have just had out of Oklahoma, where thugs tried to harm or maybe even kill a young mother and her baby and the mother used a firearm to defend herself, liberals like Bill Press will press for more gun control. Why can't they just say that we all have the right to own (and practice shooting) a firearm? Firearms obviously deter crime (if not by stopping crime before it happens, at least they stop repeat offenders by getting them off the planet).
Many liberals think this country would turn into The Wild West if everyone could own and use a firearm. That just goes hand-in-hand with the liberal belief that people need to be controlled by Big Government.
My hat is off to this young woman in Oklahoma. I hope that this encourages many, many more women to buy and learn how to use a firearm. Innocent lives would be saved.
