Randi Rhodes: Reagan Would Be on Rush Limbaugh's Enemies List
It’s not enough for lefty radio host Randi Rhodes to say “Thomas Jefferson would bitch-slap Rush Limbaugh so hard.” On Tuesday, she insisted Ronald Reagan would be on Rush Limbaugh’s enemies list.
Rhodes played a clip of Limbaugh saying of the Left “I don’t look at them as just simple opponents. That’s the prevailing view inWashington. Yea, they’re just the Democrats. And they’re going to win some and we’re going to win some...No no. ..The American Left with their designs on this nation are [the enemy].”
Rhodes insisted “You know, it's a good thing Ronald Reagan's not around because he'd be on Rush's enemies list.because that was Ronald Reagan's quote. 'Make your political opponents just your opponents. They’re, not your enemies,' okay? They’re just Americans who you disagree with."
She added "So Mitch Daniels said, remember, we have no enemies, only opponents.” And Limbaugh was “ignorant that he [Rush] doesn't remember that Ronald Reagan had said that, and so now he is trashing Ronald Reagan, his freaking God, his hero, his messiah! It’s so sick! It’s so sick! And then of course anyone that doesn’t agree that the Left is an enemy is an enemy, too, and so on and so on, until there’s nobody left but Rush.”
Casting people out for ideological impurity? This is a strange lecture coming from Randi, who lost one talk-radio gig for repeatedly denouncing left-winger Hillary Clinton in the spring of 2008 as a “big f—ing whore” and calling Geraldine Ferraro "David Duke in drag."

This is one stupid human. Rush loved Reagan. I can tell she never listened to him.
Pardon me, Ms. Rhodes . . .

. . . but when my political views are met with accusations of racism by individuals or groups, they are no longer opponents with whom I can respectfully disagree. They are my enemy, because that is obviously how they view me.
Check the rhetorical vitriol from the likes of Howard Dean, Grayson, Wiener, Jackson Lee, etc.

Is Rhodes taking those special pills again?
I've not heard such a laughable, out-of-touch-with-reality claim from a lib talking point like this in a long time...er...in a while...er...in a couple of days...uh...within the past hour.

Submitted by robert108 on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 5:45pm.
In the first place, things have changed, for the worse, since President Reagan's day, and in the second place, the Alinsky acolytes, such as the Clintons and obama have turned American politics into class warfare, seeking to divide Americans as much as possible. What Rush said is true, regrettably.
I agree.

In light of the character and behavior of some of the current "opponents", I suspect that even RR might view them as enemies.
Pretty much what I came here to say.

Reagan did not face the full-on assault from the left that is trying to take down the US as he knew it. IMHO, these people would indeed be his enemies, just as they are now ours.
It's not just their behavior. It's their entire agenda. (Can you say: Fundamentally transform America?)

Randi Rhodes (not her real name but a ripoff) is a riot here. Don't you just LOVE those libs who have absolutely ZERO TOLERANCE for anything a conservative says - until they can use it in the battle of words? Hey Randi, have you ever heard of Robert Bork? You guys sure didn't treat him like an adversary. And what about Clarence Thomas? Or John Tower? Or John Bolton? Need I go on?

What she's right about is that in today's Republican Party, Ronald Reagan would be accused of being a liberal. His views aren't that much different than are Gov. Huckabee's, and he's being called a liberal.

Randi Rhodes obviously doesn't know that Rush refers to Reagan as "Ronaldus Maximus" with regularity. She just knows that she has a "mandate to hate" Limbaugh and conservatives just like the rest of the MSM. She has her slimy little niche and she's welcome to rot there.
Perhaps I should copyright "mandate to hate" since it seems to apply to so many in the liberal media. Yeah.. I'll claim that. -bidn-

President Reagan was a gentleman, but I disagreed with his premise that you could oppose Tip O'Neill from 9:00 to 5:00 and have a drink with him at 6:00. As I recall, Tip O'Neill graciously reciprocated by saying some pretty nasty and personal things about Reagan publicly.
Democrats have declared war on Republicans, especially conservatives, and every gentlemanly gesture and weak response from Republicans is answered by an even worse onslaught of Democratic nastiness. The only ones who are expected to give quarter are Republicans and this always results in a new costly Democratic program ever so slightly watered down as a "compromise" - while the "water" is always removed at a later date. With all due respect to President Reagan, the time for "making nice" is long over.

But these are not Democrats in the traditional sense.
Reagan was honest, sincere, and never took advantage. He was also brilliant, no-one ever got the best of him. Not Tip, Gorbachev, Media, no-one, plus they loved him.
Folks are really missing out, if you dont read some of the Bio's of RR. He was always straight as an arrow.
"They Loved Him"?????!!!!!
Submitted by Chris Norman on Fri, 05/13/2011 - 11:26pm.
I hate to disagree with you - they may have respected him in the end, but they hardly loved him. I recall some pretty nasty things said about Reagan by Democrats, including Tip O'Neill. The media didn't show much "love" either - they pretty much portrayed him as either a war monger or doddering fool. No, RR's good humor was hardly returned.
Of course your right Chris

Folks who met him personalty did have appreciation. But those who didnt, treated him as evil.
Exactly like they do today?
Whoah, am I really that old? Crap,,,, ssshhhhhhhh
I am getting so afraid that a good conservative wont run and win, I am tempted to run myself.
Unfortunately, my comments to Jer would sink me in the "Who give's a Crap" demographic

You may as well run. However, you probably can safely write off the "Jer Vote". :)
I'm growing apprehensive that our "dream candidate" is just that. The way we dream here of that candidate who gives smart, on the nose, retorts to Democrat and media accusations quickly, who describes conservative positions with clarity and eloquence, who has no scandals or baggage - one who inspires - makes me feel like some teenage girl dreaming of a non-existent "Mr. Right" taking her to the prom and then winds up being asked by only some dorky loser.
By the way, I remember election night of 1980. I watched NBC News (back when I could still stomach it and there were no other sources). I remember David Brinkley, looking at the national map where states where Reagan had won were lit up in blue, saying it looked like a "big suburban swimming pool" - a gentle (but still somewhat negative) observation that Reagan's base was suburban rather than big city (Yes, the media was biased back then. More subtle about it, but maybe more that was more dangerous in it's own way). Still, I was twenty two and I was overjoyed after the miserable four long years of "The Smartest Peanut Farmer in the Whole World" - and I really am that old and yes, "Crap!". :)
