NPR Promotes New Planned Parenthood Radio Ads Attacking Pro-Lifers After They Lose House Vote

Tim Graham's picture

Planned Parenthood lost a House vote on Friday by a count of 245 to 180 that would strip its funding out of this year's stopgap spending bill. But they're not sitting still.

Frank James of  NPR's blog It's All Politics is reporting the "woman's health organization" plans to run radio ads that will initially target several Republican lawmakers, including "freshmen Allen West (FL), Frank Guinta (NH), Ann Marie Buerkle (NY) and Pat Meehan (PA) as well as Mike Fitzpatrick, (PA) who served in the House previously." Well, there's that, and this weekend's New York "Safer Sex Party" with the handcuffs and "Hedonist Chocolates."

NPR didn't notice happy groups like the National Right to Life Committee applauding the denial of funds to the "bloated abortion mega-marketer," but they helpfully forwarded the text of a Planned Parenthood ad, called "Flushed."

 Hear that?

It's the sound of (Congressman/woman name) wasting your money.

S/he just voted against one of the best investments ever:  making sure that women and families can get affordable birth control and preventive health care.

X's vote doesn't create a single job, doesn't reduce the deficit, and doesn't save you a penny.

What his/her vote WOULD do is bar Planned Parenthood from receiving federal funding to do its vital work - by denying millions of women preventive care, including birth control, annual exams, and lifesaving cancer screenings.

And (name) vote is sure to increase the number of unintended pregnancies and undetected cancers.

In the long run, that's going to cost all of us plenty.

Representative X promised to focus on jobs, but instead s/he's joined a costly war on women's health care.

We need your help to fight back. Find out more at www.plannedparenthood.org

The picture is an AP photo NPR's used repeatedly of a "statue symbolizing women's empowerment at a Planned Parenthood center in Tucson, Ariz."

Well NPR is next.

I don't think tax money should go to a partisan organization.  It's that simple.

NPR needs to be defunded

Submitted by The_Barrel_Guy on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 12:25am.

Just like Planned Parenthood...

If these groups and organizations are worthwhile, they will generate their own source of funding... It should not come out of the taxpayers' pockets...

I am hoping that my member of congress will grow some brass ones...

We must fight to win every battle for liberty... The enemy needs only win once!

NPR is next on the chopping block.

Submitted by Slyrr on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 12:54am.

Will this be NPR's last gasp as the Democrat propaganda machine?

Their necks are on the chopping block too.

Democrats and leftists all over the place have been living high off the hog for years, spending money that isn't theirs.  Now the money's gone.  The gravy train is grinding to a halt, and the Left are screaming like demons, fighting a battle they've already lost.

The nation can't live without food, water and energy.

We can certainly live without abortion clinics and NPR.

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

NPR may be a tougher opponent.  PP has had a lot of bad press and damning evidence lately but NPR still has big backers.

Submitted by jdhawk on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 1:20am.

Please go to www.abortionno.org, specifically to this page, and send an e-mail of a photo of your chosing of an abortion to the above listed congressmen and congresswomen with the note they have helped stop the needless taking of the lives of the unborn by their actions: http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/ecards.html . To find the congressmen and women's e-mail addresses go here: http://www.house.gov. Then, just put the name of the congressmen or congresswomen's name in the search box and you will be given their congressional web site. There you will find their e-mail addresses. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood has over 820 clinic locations in the United States, with a total budget of approximately US $1 billion. In the 2007–08 Annual Report, Planned Parenthood clinic income totalled $374.7 million and miscellaneous operating revenues $68.9 million. Planned Parenthood receives about a third of its money in government grants and contracts ($349.6 million in the 2008 fiscal year). By law, Planned Parenthood cannot allocate any federal funding for abortions;[33] however, abortion opponents argue that allocating money to Planned Parenthood for the provision of other medical services "frees up" funds for abortion. In other words, they use the 1/3 billion dollars of federal funding for everthing else but abortions and then, they have that much money for abortions. Here are the statistics on abortion up to the last year statistics are available: Abortions in the United States Total number of abortions in the U.S. since 1973: 48 million + Abortions per year: 1,200,000 Abortions per day: 3,288 Abortions per hour: 137 9 abortions every 4 minutes 1 abortion every 26 seconds Serveral abortions occured while you were reading this . . .

Planned Parenthood????

Submitted by Cyborg 0427 on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 7:10am.

This organization does not do any parenthood planning at all, and no government does not pay for abortions but it does pay the light bill, rent, paychecks of workers and so on and so forth.  This Margert Sanger organization is nothing short of a nazi eugenics program carried over into the USA.  The new tea-party congress is doing the job we elected them to do. Now lets get busy and take the senate and really get this wrecking ball going on the liberal agenda. We can do this.

You can lead a liberal to logic but you can't make them think.

I want to start seeing

Submitted by Miss_Me_Yet on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 8:10am.

I want to start seeing billboards and bus ads across America showing a Planned Parenthood leader / liberal politician / celebrity spokesperson holding their literature in one hand, and a newly murdered / aborted fetus in the other.

Underneath would read " Planned Parenthood & Abortion...perfect together ".

Enough is enough with trying to be polite with these money grubbing animals.

If Americans, especially those who frequent this organization without a thought in the world of what they are actually engaging in, were confronted with the truth, abortion numbers would possibly have a dramatic decline.

They have proven, just last week, our 12 or 13 year old daughters are nothing more than an income stream to them.

That is not what America signed up for with this organization and just like A.C.O.R.N., it's time for them to be defunded.

Liberals ... we can't live with them, they couldn't survive without us ...

Who is Auditing Planned Parenthood?

Submitted by Retired Geek on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 7:36am.

The argument that the millions of dollars given to Planned Parenthood by the Federal Government does NOT fund abortions is specious at best.

This is analogous to an Alcoholic who has to decide whether or not to pay their electric bill or buy liquor to sate their addiction.

If the Alcoholic's electric bill is subsidized - the Alcoholic no longer has to make a decision whether to freeze or drink.

IOW, if the money from the Federal Government subsidizes Planned Parenthood in any way, that leaves Planned Parenthood more money for Abortions.

Another point - who is auditing Planned Parenthood and making sure that NO Federal Money is being used for Abortions?

Right, Geek...I was saying similar below...before I realized you had just said it.

Money is fungible.

and notice that nowhere in this ad does the word "abortion" appear.

It's all about screenings, preventive care, etc.

Let's see which services they reduce when they can't afford to do it all.

And if their profits go down.

Submitted by ThisnThat on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 10:55am.

from the dims: "Representative X promised to focus on jobs, but instead he's {insert the libs favorite agenda topic}". It's like "See, you dumbass voters, you voted us responsible job-creaters out of office, and now you're left with nobody who's looking out for your interests".

Do they really think that tactic is going to work? We're waaaaaaaay to aware nowadays for that.

Oh, no!

No, I got the point quite clearly

Submitted by Rush to Judgement on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 12:23pm.

As with the news of the House vote on the UN International Climate Change Panel, both of these must pass a Democrat controlled Senate and a presidential veto.

I think you're missing the point.

Submitted by hbnolikeee on Sat, 02/19/2011 - 3:38pm.

Of course the Senate and BO will vote against these measures and veto them.  However,  wait for it, here comes the point:

All the democrats that voted against all the measures that the majority understand is needed will  get hammered as a result in 2012.

GOP opponents will have these  negative votes to call out in 2012 as proof positive where their elected Democratic representatives are for as many issues as they can be shown to have voted against fixing.

Didn't we just vote to turn

Submitted by Emil on Sun, 02/20/2011 - 9:31pm.

Didn't we just vote to turn the house over to Republicans and handed defeats to liberals at all levels around the country so they could cut spending? We did! Hasn't  Planned Parent shown time after time a pattern of encouraging and aiding illegal behavior making them culpable in forcing minor girls into a life of sexual slavery and abuse? They have! Do you see now why we should remove funds from NPR as they are supporting Planned Parenthood making them cualpable in this dispicable, inhumane behavior? You should!
