Doonesbury Hates God in Christmas Day Comic Strip
By Tim Graham | December 25, 2010 | 23:47
Newspaper readers probably had raised eyebrows on Christmas Day if they saw Doonesbury's comic strip for this sacred day. A female social worker is chatting with a female soldier and asking her if she gets support out in the field. They have this exchange:
SOLDIER: Yes, ma'am, I talk to our chaplain.
SOCIAL WORKER: Good. A chaplain can be a good resource.
SOLDIER: Mine yells at God a lot.
SOCIAL WORKER: He deserves it. In my extremely humble opinion.

Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau has some explaining to do about why he hates God, and why he has to hate God in public on Christmas.

I haven't looked at my newspaper yet. If this strip was in today, I'm going to call and cancel my subscription and tell them I won't renew until they stop running Doonesybury. This didn't just "happen" to run today, it was planned.

I used to read the paper.........and I could never 'get' Doonesbury.........it's either 'over' my head, or under it - and I think the latter is probably correct. This guy Trudeau is just a little lib prick who hates our country, but doesn't mind living here so that he can make a pretty good living. There's a bunch of people like this..........Micheal Moron is the first to come to mind. If I had the chance to meet Trudeau, I'd probably spit on him, for starters..........and then slap him for finishers..........
When I fly to Honolulu, I do buy our local rag (Jeez, it is HIDEOUS!!!!), because I've got to kill some time at the airport, and I like to see what the latest BS is in the MSM industry. And I do go to the comics...........but the only ones that I can relate to are Hagar the Horrible (my idol!!!), Blondie and Dagwood, Beetle Bailey, and some other random ones that I might find. Basically they ALL suck!!! And Trudeau is at the bottom of the list....................

1977 called - they want their comic strip back.
I think you have to be a liberal to lie and say Doonesbury is funny. They think it's a requirement for getting into the pretentious liberal elitist club. Maybe it was back in 1977.

I'd doubt that Trudeau believes in the conventional concept of God. More likely, his god jumped on a plane and took a several hundred thousand dollar vacation at taxpayer expense in Hawaii. If BHO ever says that he empathizes with unemployed Americans shivering in a blizzard, know this: it's about the 500th lie he's told. Trudeau saves his anger for the real God, and his praise and adoration for the socialist kleptocrats running the country.

LOL, I'm saying just because someone yells at God does not mean they are against God. However the next character said God deserves it, so I can surmise Trudy is not a man of God, perhaps god not God.

its ironic that Trudeau doesn't 'know that God wants us to yell at Him when we are angry with Him - He wants to experience all emotions with us...
The typical secularist thinks it's an insult to God - what they don't know about God could fill a Bible as usual

If the only important thing about God is "God is love", as the mainline denominations constantly tell us, then Trudeau is right. Fortunately, they are wrong.
why is this bad?

thinkers and theologians for centuries have argued with and yelled at God, and have fervently felt that He deserved it. even biblical characters did it: Moses most famously. have you really never been so mad at God you shook your fist at the heavens and said "Seriously Lord--with all due respect, what are you thinking?" I have.
but you can do this in our Judeo-Christian heritage: our loving God knows we have an imperfect understanding of the world, and He knows we're confused. He knows that questioning only strengthens our faith, and the truth will set us free. He understands our anger, and He loves us anyway.

How is this different from any other liberal with a God-complex? They put God on the witness stand and expect him to explain Himself. What arrogance! What hubris! They mock God and want to replace Him with themselves. Why else would they kill babies and lust after absolute power?

Submitted by TruthMonger on Sun, 12/26/2010 - 3:55pm.
They judge God from a worldly perspective, not a divine one - so their context is all wrong to begin with - no one can judge God unless they are divine - meaning we can't do it - God just laughs at these athiests I'm quite sure - they deserve our pity really - they are lost sheep who would rather live with the wolves

You see for social workers (and psychiatrists and psychologists) their patient is never at fault. It is always somebody else's responsibility. And who is more responsible then the Creator Himself!!!?
It is never your fault: you are always a victim no matter what.

I cannot vouch for the professionalism of cartoon social workers. But real social workers consider the client to be fully responsible for his own behavior.

I stopped reading this loser
Submitted by Slyrr on Sun, 12/26/2010 - 2:30am.
I stopped reading this loser ages ago. Fact is, I NEVER really followed his strip. When I was younger, I thought it wasn't funny. The characters, writing and 'jokes' always fell flat whenever I happened to glance at any of his stuff.
And as I got older, that appraisal was verified. He's not funny. He never was. How he even landed a gig as a cartoonist is a mystery to me, and how he stays in business is an even bigger source of bewilderment. I thought the purpose of a comic/cartoon strip was to make people laugh and to amuse them. This guy fails utterly. I suppose he must be given some credit - after all, it takes guts to willingly stand up and make a fool of yourself every day by trying to be funny and clever and botching it every time.
Whatever humor this man may have had in his soul obviously died a long time ago. Now he's just a bitter old crow trying to spread his own misery around.

out of the comics and onto the editorial page because of complaints. How it got back into the comics, I don't know.
You have to remember, this is liberals' idea of humor. They spew their usual hate and insults, even against God, and then justify it by saying "It's a joke!!" or "It's satire!!" or "It's a fake news show!!"

My local paper moved this strip off the comics pages years ago, and to this day it still runs elsewhere, near the comics but not on the oped pages either. Usually it's on the back page of the section where the comics appear.
Blessed are those who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed.

Another liberal judging God - imagine that. There's nothing wrong with yelling at God - he's big enough to take it and fix the problem - in his own time. The problem with liberals is they cant make God over into their image.

I've always thought that people who want to have a dependency on a secular higher authority, to manage their lives, or provide for them, or partner with them to elevate their status or power over society, tend to view God in a similar light. Because of this, they blame God for all things "bad" that ever happen to themselves or other people. They have no understanding of the relationship between God and man.

I really enjoyed Doonesbury back in college, but Gary Trudeau really became offensive after a while so I have not read him for quite some time. But I do get angry with God sometimes (yet I also ask Him to forgive me afterwards - after all, God is to be honored and respected more than anything else, by far).

Once upon a time Christmas
Submitted by mustango on Mon, 12/27/2010 - 5:38pm.
Once upon a time Christmas Day was a day of truce that even Gary Trudeau honored.
Then Newt Gingrich staged the takeover of Congress in 1994. Whereupon Mr. Trudeau decided that Christmas, which happened to fall on a Sunday that year, was too valuable as a day to waste on such things when more attacks needed to be pointed at Newt.
Something died in our country that day.
