Mayor of London Suggests Bush Could Be Arrested for Torture If He Lands in London

By Tim Graham | November 24, 2010 | 14:50

On Monday's Democracy Now broadcast, taxpayer-subsidized Pacifica Radio anchor Amy Goodman promoted a newspaper column in the Daily Telegraph by the mayor of London, Boris Johnson, suggesting that George W. Bush should be arrested if he lands in Great Britain on his book tour, much like former Chilean dictator Agosto Pinochet, put under house arrest in London in 1998:

It is not yet clear whether George W Bush is planning to cross the Atlantic to flog us his memoirs, but if I were his PR people I would urge caution. As book tours go, this one would be an absolute corker. It is not just that every European capital would be brought to a standstill, as book-signings turned into anti-war riots. The real trouble — from the Bush point of view — is that he might never see Texas again.

One moment he might be holding forth to a great perspiring tent at Hay-on-Wye. The next moment, click, some embarrassed member of the Welsh constabulary could walk on stage, place some handcuffs on the former leader of the Free World, and take him away to be charged. Of course, we are told this scenario is unlikely. Dubya is the former leader of a friendly power, with whom this country is determined to have good relations. But that is what torture-authorising Augusto Pinochet thought. And unlike Pinochet, Mr Bush is making no bones about what he has done.

Johnson is actually a member of the Conservative Party in England -- but in a 2008 column in the Telegraph, he endorsed Barack Obama for president, writing that Bush discredited both Western democracy and capitalism through the Iraq war and the financial crisis. The mayor sounded like Chris Matthews:

Obama deserves to win because he seems talented, compassionate, and because he offers the hope of rejuvenating the greatest country on earth in the eyes of the rest of us. All those are sufficient reasons for desiring his victory.

And then there is the final, additional reason, the glaring reason, and that is race. Huge numbers of voters, whether they admit it to themselves or not, will hesitate to choose Barack Obama for President because he is black. And then there are millions of white Americans who will undoubtedly vote Obama precisely because he is black, and because he stands for the change and the progress they want to see in their society.

After centuries of friction, prejudice, tension, hatred - you name it, they've had it - America is teetering on the brink of a triumph. If Obama wins, then the United States will have at last come a huge and maybe decisive step closer to achieving the dream of Martin Luther King, of a land where people are judged not on the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.

So this is Pacifica Radio in a nutshell: George W. Bush should be arrested and jailed. But leftist cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal should be hailed as a hero on his birthday. Radical leftists live in a convoluted moral universe. But conservatives shouldn't have to pay for their radio shows.

I would bet Boris those last three yellow, rotting teeth in his disgusting shit stained mouth, he hasn't the balls to even face GW when he visits, let alone try and have him detained.

Liberal, pussy, assholes aren't any different around the world than they are right here in the good old United States of America.

They hide under their beds and yell stuff like this out to some other pussy, who puts it in the paper and on the radio. Then as is always the case, when all is said and done they are nowhere to be found or smelled.

PS: How the hell does the mayor of London get a name like Boris?  That's almost as bad as an American president named Barack or something like that.

Let me make this clear to you Boris. If former president George W Bush is ever arrested on charges of torture by you or any of your fellow supporters you will force some of us to retaliate and to do so with prejudice. Do you fully understand me Boris?

Service for torture by depriving patients of water in the hospitals in his fair city.  He may be an English "Conservative", but he is a typical do-gooder liberal as far as I can see.  He wants to fix the world by some demonstration of how much he CARES instead of properly managing the area for which he has responsibility.

Mayor, arrest yourself now for the torture of patients in English hospitals.  You dumb fraud, you.

EDIT:  to compare Bush to Pinoche is laughable.  Bush authorized the waterboarding of 3, THREE people.......Pinoche tortured (and I mean REAL torture) and executed THOUSANDS!!!

Was that the entire script of the interview?  I couldn't tell what the mayor guy was going to charge President Bush for doing.  Torture?  When, where?  To date there has been no proof of torture, not even an accusation.  Who was tortured?  How were they tortured?  Unlike Boris I read the presidents book and nowhere in it does he "make no bones" about torturing anyone.  I would think it would be a pretty big news story if President Bush was talking about authorizing torture.  These facts seem to be conveniently left out of the interview. I know Amy Goodman would never challange her like minded guest but to even make such a statement shows what a moron this guy really is.  Stay classy Pacifica!

War criminal

Submitted by timrfrench61 on Wed, 11/24/2010 - 4:52pm.

I would like to see Boris Johnson be arrested as a war criminal, as an accessory to Pinochet's torture, belittling "The Missing" thousands as morally equivalent to 3 terrorists who had a cup of water thrown in their face.

I would like to see Boris Johnson be arrested as a war criminal, for crimes against humanity for verbal torture of all humanity for implying defense of self and others is torture.

It is criminally stupid to make a moral equivalency between an information gathering technique that I have to deal with whenever I go to the dentist to what happens to people before they end up in mass.  unmarked graves.

I lived in Britain for 4 years and listening to this idiot speaks volumes of the mindless liberalism that exists there. He'd arrest Bush but GB gives Muslims free pass to emigrate there all the while they denounce the very system that allows them to flourish there in the first place. The Muslims who live there are just as crazy as those that we target in Iraq and Afghanistan by calling for the murder of Westerners on the sctreets of London. Liberalism is truly a mental disorder.

Re: Pathetic Queers

Submitted by Burnside on Wed, 11/24/2010 - 7:54pm.

Diesel,

I'm a Londoner living in Austin. Been here eight years and I love it and am a proud American citizen.  I don't mind that I'm a conservative in a liberal city, that's where I am so I accept it. No probs. I get on great with the locals and happen to love this country very much as well as my own.

Now let me address your post.  Firstly, you are living in a fantasy world if you really believe that the UK is jealous of the US for any reason. The only reason my friends and family are interested in America is down to the fact that I live here and the population generally couldn't give a shit what happens here as it has no direct bearing on them. The UK doesn't care what America does or thinks, so deal.

Boris Johnson is a strange little man, but the fact that Pacifica used quotes from 2008 says an awful lot. Johnson doesn't like Obama from what I've heard, but he doesn't talk about him much as he has a BIG city to run.

Plus, and let me just tell your sorry ass this: If you ever said that I was a "pathetic queer" or that I was a "ball-less, crying little yorkshire pudding eating pussy" I'd knock you flat on your fat yank arse.

Clear?  Good. Have some respect and behave like a grown-up you mouthy thug.

I commend you.

I also ask you to travel back in time to the years 1939 through 1945, and ask yourself if you would state the same about what our English cousins would think about America, other than the famous line, "The Yanks are overpaid, oversexed, and over here."

I had two relatives who died on the beach at Normandy, not too long after sailing off from the Sceptered Isle.
