Rachel Maddow 'Coburns' Chuck Norris, Imagines Pro-Lifers Wish There Was Stoning for Abortion

Chuck Norris has drawn a lot of liberal fury for his latest column about abortion and the Christmas story. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow drew a wild analogy on her TV show Thursday night. When Norris suggested people in the time of Christ might get abortions to avoid stoning, Maddow imagined that Norris and other pro-lifers wish that deadly punishment had never gone away: "I look at the whole crux -- the whole crux of his argument rests on the idea if only we still had stoning for abortion."

She then added, with delight: "It's beautiful. If we didn't have them, we’d make it up." She said this, despite the fact that she literally is making this up. Norris has been "Coburned" – liberals are reading more into his commentary than actually existed. Here’s the broader exchange between Maddow and her pop-culture correspondent Kent Jones:

KENT JONES: You know, there`s one conservative voice we really haven`t heard from in all the health reform debate. And frankly, I`m a little scared if we don`t hear from him. So here we go.

MADDOW: All right.

JONES: Just when thought health reform hyperbole stakes couldn`t get any higher, Lone Wolf McQuaid steps into the fray. Conservative enforcer Chuck Norris gave Obama`s health reform plan a muscular smackdown on "Townhall.com."

Note the timely holiday theme. Quote, "As we near the eve of another Christmas, I wonder, what would have happened if Mother Mary had been covered by Obama-care? What if that young, poor and uninsured teenage woman had been provided the federal funds via Obama-care and facilities via Planned Parenthood, et cetera, to avoid the ridicule, ostracizing, persecution and possible stoning because of her out-of-wedlock pregnancy?"

"Imagine all the great souls who could have been erased from history and the influence of mankind if their parents had been as progressive as Washington`s wise men and women. Will Obama-care morph into Herod-care for the unborn?"

Herod-care? Oh, right. That`s brought down the socialist Roman Empire. Apparently, that plan wasn`t blocked by Sen. Josephus Liebermanus. And as long as we play what if, let`s say Herod-care had a strong public option. Mother Mary might have had the baby Jesus in a hospital instead of a barn. Nonetheless, God rest you, merry gentlemen.

MADDOW: I look at the whole crux - the whole crux of his argument rests on the idea if only we still had stoning for abortion.

JONES: Yes, that, too. Herod-care, run away.

MADDOW: It`s beautiful. If we didn`t have them, we’d make it up. Thank you, Kent.

Chuck Norris certainly went for shock and awe by broaching the concept of the abortion of God the Son. Liberals would have a small point that God wouldn’t seem all-powerful if he picked a mother who wasn’t really willing to do His will, but was searching for an abortionist. But liberals never really want to think about the great potential of human lives that are ended before they can begin.

MSNBC host Ed Schultz also read from the Norris column on Friday, and asked the co-creator of The Daily Show, Lizz Winstead, for her comedic take:

SCHULTZ: Lizz, you`ve got to comment on Chuck Norris. I mean, saying that the baby Jesus would have been aborted under Obama-care, I mean, holy smokes, is that Psycho Talk?

LIZZ WINSTEAD: Dude, here`s what I think, it feels like Mary and Joseph were on the Republican health care plan. Sending a teenager on a donkey to have a baby in a barn? That sounds about right. That sounds about GOP health care.
