Sharpton Mocks Limbaugh for 'Screeching of the Defeated': 'He's Having Delusions, He's Not Well'

Brian Maloney at Radio Equalizer reported the "Reverend" Al Sharpton gloating on his talk radio show over his successful cable-news campaigning to ruin Rush Limbaugh's ownership bid for the  St. Louis Rams, mocking Limbaugh's "bellyaching" and the "screeching of the defeated." He went on to question whether Limbaugh was losing his mind.

SHARPTON: You know I’m told now through e-mails that Mr. Limbaugh now is saying that this is a conspiracy with the President Obama and me and George Soros and everyone. I really think he’s having delusions Brittany, I mean (Brittany Sharpton giggling in the background) his partners dropped him. I mean, what is he talking about? They withdrew his name, he was exposed for what he said and now the whole government and me an everybody’s conspired against him? I mean you know this is -- he’s not well.

BRITTANY SHARPTON, niece and radio show sidekick: He’s way too old to be crying like a baby. Ha ha ha.

SHARPTON: Yeah, this is making less and less sense.

News reports suggested Soros might be involved in the same Dave Checketts bid that Limbaugh had been invited to join. The St. Louis Business Journal reported that's not the case, but several former Soros hedge fund managers are involved.

Then there's the same old shameless Sharpton pose against being "divisive and incendiary" in the Associated Press:

"It is a moral victory for all Americans — especially the players that have been unfairly castigated by Rush Limbaugh," Sharpton said in a statement. "This decision will also uphold the unifying standards of major sports."

Sharpton added in a telephone interview that major sports leagues shouldn't welcome owners who are "divisive and incendiary."

On his national radio show Thursday night, Mark Levin told his millions of listeners that the conservative National Legal and Policy Center was contacting the corporate sponsors of Al Sharpton's National Action Network and holding them responsible for the shoddy campaign of Sharpton, which even suggested Rush was racist for criticizing the dog-killing of Michael Vick. Peter Flaherty of the NPLC reported:

Al Sharpton’s platform for his assault on Rush Limbaugh’s NFL ownership bid was the National Action Network (NAN), which is bankrolled by corporate America.

The following companies were identified this year by NAN as “sponsors”: American Honda, Anheuser Busch, Colgate-Palmolive, Comcast, Entergy, Ford Motor Company, Home Depot, Johnson & Johnson, Macy’s, PepsiCo, Pfizer and Wal-Mart. Sponsorship reportedly cost $50,000.

NLPC is asking these companies to end their support for Sharpton and NAN.

This is the same Al Sharpton that liberal media outlets allow to run for president as a Democrat and allow to play kingmaker in New York politics with honorific labels like "civil rights leader." There seem to be no black leaders (on the left) they are willing to curb or condemn.

Every once in a while there's a contrary moment -- like the 2004 presidential debate in which Peter Jennings "calmly asked Al Sharpton to explain his philosophy on nominating governors to the Federal Reserve Board, and Sharpton collapsed like a ten-year-old kid whose dog allegedly ate the homework."

Yep, Al lost the case, and had a judgement against him to pay. Al told the judge, "eff you" and hasn't paid a dime to the damaged person, Pagano. He doesn't have to obey no stinkin' honkey judge, or especially pay no stinkin' redneck. You see, Rev Al be a certain color.

A rather pointed barb, Phil

I wonder if BOR will have Sharpton on and buddy up to him over this?

I despise the way O'Reilly treats Sharpton as some sort of philosopher king.

My average speed of channel change when Obama comes on is 6.2 seconds.  Sharpton and Jackson are a close second at 7.3 seconds.

I hope he fails, too.

That's one of the reasons I don't watch BOR any more.  I got fed up with him cozying up to everyone.  He's getting to be a useful idiot for guys like Sharpton.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets Al on and does his smarmy  "Come- aaaahhhhn....." so it looks like he's being tough, but Al knows it's all for show....

Concur with BOR being a useful idiot to the Idiots.  He was taken off my "Watch List" awhile back.  He treats women abysmally, too.

Sharpton on Fox

As insignificant as his show is, I saw Geraldo's show on Fox News.  He had an "Afghanistan panel".  Rev. Sharpton was on it (!!!!) as was Retired General Wesley Clark (who I don't like at all).  Seeing General Clark turn nauseous green every time the "Rev" gave his EXPERT opinion on military matters was a laugh.

This is the bed you've chosen to lie in these days, Wesley.  And I mean "lie", not "lay".

Geraldo is From Another Planet

At least to me.  Most of what he has to say is self-aggrandizement and has no bearing on the issues.  Everything is twisted into something about his personal experience on the issue, no matter how tangental, and who he knows, no matter how dubious their reputations.

Geraldo

Is a plant on FNC to make democRATS look foolish. If not him, someone else - they are easy to find, though usually employed by competing networks.

Geraldo's bleeding, liberal heart is in the right place, so to speak, he's just so concerned with how HE is perceived.  It's a little too over the top nine times out of ten.

Thank goodness for Juan Williams last night!

If you missed it, watch the video of Juan Williams, Rev. Ken Hutcherson, and Tammy Bruce on O'Reilly last night. Juan Williams was incensed.  He finally "gets" what happens if you disagree with the Sharptons, Jacksons or Obamas of the world.  And he directly connected the NFL player's association president, Demaurice Smith, with both Eric Holder and Obama's campaign- the connection no other media outlet will mention.

When Sharpton wins, America

When Sharpton wins, America and freedom loses. Race baiter, hater, racist, shill, call him what you will, Sharpton is what is wrong with the whole concept of 'African American' as a separate, unequal segment of society. Sorry Sharpton, with Oprah the richest woman in America, Obama as President, Woods the pinnacle of his sport and on and on and on AND ON, America is NOT a racist country.

I actually heard this

I actually heard this exchange on the air.  Speaking of "not well", Sharpton was barely intelligible, his speech was so slurred.  I couldn't tell whether he was drunk or had had a stroke.

It also creeps me out that Brittany is his niece.  His show makes it sound like he's trying to show off his cool young female sidekick.  And he's her uncle?  Ick.  (As if there weren't enough other icky Sharpton characteristics...)

Holy Cow!  This man drives me nuts!!  He really believes what he says...that Rush was exposed!! This is exactly how the 'slavery was good' thing got started, and now, even when the media are admitting there's no corroboration, Al is sticking to his guns.

I ask again...Whos' not well,   Who's having delusions???

why does anyone even allow them a forum?

sharpton, jackson, and theri ilk should not be allowed to use a P.A.  system, let alone exposure on any national forum/media.

It's the Democrats

I beginning to understand what Schumer said.  When Clinton was being impeached, and the Democrats were trying to figure out a way to get him off, without looking like they were letting him off, Schumer said, (and the gist is correct although the words might not be exact) This isn't about Bill Clinton, this is about not letting the Republicans win.  Well, this isn't about Rush Limbauch, this is about jerks, like Sharpton, being able to strut around bragging how they beat the system and shut out another conservative from doing something he wanted to do.

I honestly don't believe LIberals have figured out just how bad this is.  I honestly don't believe the media realize how bad this is.  What goes around, comes around, it's a matter of time.  The way the Democrats have acted in Congress this year, shutting out the Republicans every time they get a chance, could come back to haunt them after the 2010 elections.  The support the press has given them, as they've shut out Republicans, could come back to haunt them after 2010.  In other words, what goes around, comes around, could come sooner than the Democrats are thinking.  Isn't life grand??????

Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.

A few things, Al.

1) You're an extortionist and, evidently, a pathological liar.

2) You're clueless about morality, so don't speak on the subject.

3) Stop calling yourself a "Reverend," since there's nothing either revered or remotely Christian about your deportment.

4) The only place you're a "leader" is away from Truth, and on the highway to Hell.  Repent of your sins, and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and the change in your behavior will be nothing short of transformational.

'Reverend' Al Sharpton

Correct on all counts. He's a fraud.

How he's away with it in 'Christian' circles is beyond me.. oh, wait.. that's off-limits because he's black.

The Entire Cycle of This Story

The entire cycle of this story has glaringly revealed the many so-called journalists and talking heads repeating the manufactured lies again and again, and those that continue to deny the various quotes were fabricated, as the true racists.

Not really shocking to discover it was, in fact, the Obama Administration that dreamed up this very specific, very evil, and very cowardly scheme, to use race/racism as a weapon, against a private citizen.

→ Booker T. pegged Sharpton

There is a class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs." Booker T. Washington

Get back on the porch!

George Mason

History Repeating...

Or, just staying the same.  *sigh*

Thanks for publishing the excellent, insightful, and prophetic quote.

Booker T also pegged him here:

"I’m afraid that there is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don’t want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy way of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."(italics mine)

“It is almost impossible to distinguish a politician from a gangster.” (Will Durant, 1931)

Re Booker T.

I find it fascinating that a quote so old could be so timely. I don't know the year he said that, but he died in 1915.

We just see the tip of the iceberg though. The bulk of the race huckster industry is below the water. There are the grievance organizations that plunder major corporations with their 'Diversity Awareness' training (or whatever the latest label for it is). If you don't hire them for big $$$ to do the 'training', you become a target. Race hucksterism also drives a large part of the ACORN-types that legally extort banks and other lenders to make loans they would not otherwise. And then there's the EEOC scams, don't even get me started on that.

It occurs to me...

that the attack on Rush could've have been the beginning of a slippery slope, especially with an anti-business, faux-post-racial president like Obama, who offers more pointed language toward American insurance companies than known international terrorist states. So consider this:

(Keep in mind the numbers are made up for convenience, and since I don't know the order of magnitude of the real numbers.) Lets say that the Rams are for sale for $500M. A particular individual has an purchase interest and is willing to invest $300M. He finds 4 other investors at $50M each, one of whom is Rush. If the sale goes through, Rush would be a minority owner with no management privileges.

Now, lets say that someone finds out that Rush is part of this investment group, and for whatever reason, determines they don't want that to come to fruition. This person or persons is not part of the current group of owner's who could "refuse service to anyone"; rather, these people are opposed to Rush on a philosophical or ideological level. To insure they meet their goal of blocking his involvement, this group proceeds to slander Rush, largely aided by the big megaphone of the nation's media outlets. Rush is eventually dropped from the purchasing group under the pressure of this slander. This is essentially what happened, as I understand it.

So my inquiry is, what if this wasn't the NFL but, say, a utility company. Let's say that it's not the Rams, but stock in ABC Power Company. And let's say that failing a swift infusion of money, the clients of this power company will see their electricity rates increase, just as global warming brings us one of the coldest winters in recent memory. So now, instead of football, Rush wants to invest his $50M in stocks for ABCPC, and Rev. Al says, "Hey, wait a minute! Isn't this the same guy that I've declared to be a racist? That doesn't change just because its now electricity instead of football. ABCPC has a 45% minority workforce. We can't have this Sharpton-declared racist owning part of this company!"

At what point does this migrate from illegal slander to some kind of SEC charge? Or maybe it's a hate crime? (I know, I know! I don't buy hate crimes either, but they are on the books and they are prosecuted, so that's why I mention it. If he was dropped for being gay, what would people call it?) Is it possible to effectively block Rush from investing in, say, food or shelter because Shakedown-Al and Shakedown-Jessie have made another proclamation of racism? I just don't see the difference between the NFL, ABCPC, or the United Way, if that's where someone wants to spend their money. It doesn't matter that the Rams are a privately held company; if the seller didn't want to sell to Rush, that's their choice but this is clearly a result of the pressure brought to bear by a slanderous and false charge that could happen to ANYONE not on the preferred buyers list according to a certain group of people. I understand the potential for suit, which I personally think Rush will pass on, and even the criminality of slander, but I'm more worried about that slippery-slope this kind of repression could lead to.

Some sort of reparation, maybe? Prop-8 slander tactics sound familiar?

Turnabout is fair play!!

Since they think Rush Limbaugh shouldn't own a team because there are some blacks on it.....then sharpton (small s) and jackson (small j) can't own any businesses or stocks that have white people associated with them............! Seems only right to me!

Charley Rangel

The next thing you'll be suggesting is that if you sit on a Congressional committee dealing with taxes and spending for everyone that you should also have to pay taxes, even if you are black. That's just crazy talk!

Gotta love the NFL for its sense of inclusion.

Sharpton a throwback to slave traders

If the unRev. Sharpton were alive 150 years ago, he'd be selling black Africans in to the slave trade for profit and fun. Because that's all he's doing today, keeping blacks on the political plantation of despair, poverty and ignorance run by Marxist despots throughout the world (including many U.S. cities).

"Sharpy Sharpton"

I don't know what it is about Al and people like Bill O"Reilly. I remember years ago that conservative talk radio pioneer Bob Grant in N.Y. would get the jerk on his show. The usually aserbic Grant would turn into a real nice guy when it came to Sharpton. He used to call him "Sharpy Sharpton". A while back, I would wince when I'd hear O'Reilly calling him "Our pal Al". Some guys just have a blind spot, I guess. Or maybe they completely misjudge the buffoon. Either way, it has always made me sick that Sharpton can get away with what almost no one else can.

P.S. Grant was eventually kicked off one station because of bogus complaints about the word "savage" from Sharpton and Jackson. ( never trust a "liberal" )

I use these things

I use these types of things from blacks, so called black leaders to show those who supported Obama that there is really no such thing as "color blind" from the large majority of blacks. They need to see the tone and color of what is happening from those they "reached" out to when they elected Obama. Now, as they see these things unfold around them, well, buyers remorse seems to have set in. In the end, I would say the chances of ever voting for another black is going to be very, very slim. So much for hope and change. Where is Alan Keyes, a true American I could support..
