ABC World News Boss on Ignoring ACORN: 'We're Not in the Business of Noise'

Backing up his anchorman, Charles Gibson, who suggested on the radio that maybe the ACORN story "is just one you leave to the cables," World News executive Jon Banner extended the liberal snobbery on Politico:

While Banner admits that some stories may get more attention on cable, blogs or talk radio, it doesn’t mean they’re suited for the "World News" audience. "There’s a tremendous amount of – for lack of a better word – ‘noise’ out there. We’re not in the business of noise."

ABC can devote entire segments to Obama swatting a fly on camera, but they report "news," not "noise"? Banner also claimed:

"It’s a very different editorial process when you have 24 hours to fill as opposed to 22 minutes," Banner said, explaining why ACORN hasn’t yet fit in the evening newscast. Lately, Banner noted that the program has been focused on covering Afghanistan, health care, the economy and the anniversary of 9/11.

He wasn't the only news snob in the Politico piece. Dean Baquet, Washington Bureau Chief of the New York Times and one of the country's top black newspaper editors, also snooted that he should take any scoops from Glenn Beck:

“For Glenn Beck to devote 45 minutes of his show to ACORN and Van Jones says more about his news judgment than mine,” said Dean Baquet, Washington bureau chief of the New York Times.

"He’s not a newsman and that’s not a news show,” Baquet continued. “He’s not trying to cover the economy, two wars, health care, the aftermath from one administration to another, negotiations with Iran or North Korea.”

It's one thing for a TV producer to try and claim they don't have time for fraudulent federal grant recipients. It's ridiculous for a newspaper editor to charge they don't have space for it.

"We’re not in the

"We’re not in the business of noise."

Apparently.  Your silence on the Socialist in office and his sycophantic Congress has been deafening.

I thought you hadn't heard

Charlie said he had not heard about it. Now you say you've heard it and its just noise?

Can you spell L*I*A*R?

No Excuse!

There is no excuse.  There is a reason, namely Liberal/Leftist Bias; the Lame-Stream-Media is trying to shape the news in Obama's favor.

They can't claim its unverifiable. ITS ON VIDEO, YouTube, takes 20 seconds.

So they claim its unimportant "Noise".  An organization that is CENTRAL to the POTUS, that has ACCESS to the POTUS, that recieves BILLIONS of our TAX dollars, that is involved in several LARGE Federal Programs in addition to the BILLIONS, is COMPLETELY CORRUPT.  This isn't News?

I guess its just like the POTUS surrounding himself w/ LEFTIST RADICALS from domestic terrorists to Marxist Black Nationalists to self-avowed Communists isn't News?

I recall 2005-2006 when it

I recall 2005-2006 when it was ABC, NBC and CBS created the outrage over the "Republican culture of corruption".

Jon Banner is a liar and a fraud.

No Time For Noise!

They have no time for noise? Well, we don't have time for their noise either. Small wonder that the Obama controlled media is losing to the "Cable outlets!"

Please allow my correction, General...

"outlet."

Politico's Mike Allen on 'Morning Joe'

Politico's Mike Allen was on Morning Joe (within the first fifteen minutes) explaining to Joe and Mika that executives at "reliable" news sources (such as MSNBC) reached consensus that time was the factor in omitting the ACORN and Van Jones stories.

There's so much flooding the news now, choices have to made, in the interest of viewer/reader to only accept stories that have had the reporting vetted and sourced to reflect the high standards of the MSM to only report accurate, and complete stories.

News executives deemed Van Jones and ACORN stories "pure speculation" and thought it better to "investigate" before airing the "news".

It boiled down to, after all, who the hell believes ANYTHING Fox News says? They're the mouthpiece for the GOP.

Sorry, Bond, I was able to

Sorry, Bond, I was able to follow and understand the discussion all the way to the phrase "reliable" news sources (such as MSNBC) -- then I became totally confused and had to give up.

Maybe at a later time, huh?

ThisnThat

Mike Allen, in his discussion with Joe and Mika, was relaying the thought process of these so-called "media" executives Politico interviewed.

These so-called "news" executives believe THEY are the ONLY reliable news sources for the country - that Fox News is of no consequence or significance.

That the viewership/readership of these so-called "news" executives' programs are more intelligent than those that watch Fox News and the viewership/readership of these so-called "news" executives' programs demand a higher quality product than the crap Fox News cranks out.

The "news" executives say this takes time - time they don't have to devote to stories they feel are "pure speculation" and "conjecture" - like the Van Jones and ACORN stories.

They'd rather report on Tom Delay's being on "Dancing with the Stars."  That's REAL news.  A Conservative making, what the liberals believe, is a fool out of himself.

HINT:  Liberals have no sense of fun or humor.  Everything is a tragedy and the worst-case scenario coming to fruition.  It's predetermined in their DNA.  Like protecting pedophiles.

Clear it up for you?

Good job Bond and Tim. Of

Good job Bond and Tim. Of course, this is not surprising, but it illustrates, in their own words, their unwillingness to cover anything potentially anti-liberal.

As for ACORN, I created an updated logo. If they want to use it, they have my permission- free of charge.

If anyone has a better acronym, please pass it along!

That Logo!

Very creative and REALLY makes the point.  Nice job!

Excellent! No citizen's

Excellent!

No citizen's right to life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, or property is safe as long as Obama is President of the United States.

→ Not in the business of NEWS either

What a dolt!!

This guy thinks if he didn't fabricate it, it's not fit for airing.

LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

It's Over

The broadcast news organizations are now completely irrelevant.  No thinking people believe a word they say anymore.

And By Last Saturday's Measure

That is, without question, the MAJORITY.

Dean Baquet said:

“For Glenn Beck to devote 45 minutes of his show to ACORN and Van Jones says more about his news judgment than mine,”

Your right Dean.  It says he saw a problem and reported it.  He saw a need for the public to know and reported it.  It isn't some sleeze art piece at the Metropolitain.  It was a factual report on Jones and ACORN.  SO SHUT UP AND COLOR!!!!

Remember Dean you said it.

Liberalism: The haunting feeling that someone, somewhere, can help themselves.

Noise?  Noise? This from

Noise?  Noise? This from the network that continuously beat the drum over the Mark Foley emails prior to the November 2006 elections.  As you may recall, it was their reporter, Brian Ross, who broke the story that was supposedly so serious because it involved Foley’s correspondence with innocent teenage boys.  You may also recall that Ross first heard the allegations about Foley in April of 2006 and waited 5 months to break the story so it would inflict the maximum political damage on Foley and the Republicans - so much for his concern about the children.  In the ACORN story we have child sex slaves, tax evasion and even a potentially premeditated murder and the noise from the crickets is deafening.

Swatting a fly

Great visual, there. Now, ABC's motto is:

Your views -- not news.
ACORN -- we scorn!
But, swat a fly -- that's our guy!

Noise???

Well that confirms that they are no longer in the business of news journalism.

Behold the new faces and

Behold the new faces and voices of Pravda. We can no longer treat these guys with the niceties of the past. Let's begin to call them what they truly are. State run media will not survive this debacle.

I wonder how a real news

I wonder how a real news source -- like Fox News -- is going to treat this?

Covering what?

" Lately, Banner noted that the program has been focused on covering
Afghanistan, health care, the economy and the anniversary of 9/11.
"

While failing, both now and in the past, to cover several important stories like the number of "czars" that have stepped down in the Obama administration, the John Edwards scandal,  "RatgerGate," the Reverend Wright controversy, ect. ect. ect.  It seems that the "program" fails to cover a LOT of important, news-breaking stories until they are covered repeatedly by Fox and internet sites like here, especially "lately."

Hay, MSM, stop making excuses for yourselves and GET BACK TO REPORTING THE NEWS!

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.
The US Constitution

Unless you're a fetus.
The US Supreme Court

Oh, did you notice...

The lastest ABC News web story on ACORN (the only one???) titled "Blowback in the ACORN Wars,"  focuses on a San Bernardino ACORN employee who was supposedly "messing with" a film crew when she claimed to have killed her husband.  The story goes on for eight paragraphs to describe this womans married life and subsequent divorce just to prove to the reader that she was innocent and just "messing with" the film crew.

I  presume that, as good kool-aid drinkers, the audience is supposed to extrapolate this story into believing that all the ACORN employees were just "messing with" the film crews.

The remainder of the story goes on to attack Senator David Vitter (R-Lousiana), a critic of ACORN, as "named by a Lousiana bordello madam as a client of her prostitutes."

So, they managed to turn it around from being a story about ACORN, to an attack on the leading republican voice against ACORN in the senate.

Noise worthy of noise, i guess.  And yes, it was Big Jake T.

LYDSEXICS UNTIE!

I watched ABC News last night

Nothing about ACORN.  They did, however, find time for a story on Dan Brown's new book and how it might renew interest in Freemasonry.

Clarification

What John Banner intended to say was, "We're not in the business of NEWS."

"It’s a very different

"It’s a very different editorial process when you have 24 hours to fill as opposed to 22 minutes," Banner said.

Except it was 22 minutes night after night after night.  And don't forget those lengthy morning shows which blacked it out morning after morning.  And don't forget how just over a week ago the Van Jones scandal was also blacked out.  They're either extremely ignorant or extremely in the tank for Obama.  I personally think it is both.

Well, I'd say these days

Well, I'd say these days there's much less ABC noise in American households and less all the time.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.

That "noise" you hear,

That "noise" you hear, Banner, is the sound of your ratings skydiving while those of the cable outlets (i.e. Fox) are soaring. Loser.
