Super Van? WaPo Describes Van Jones as 'Legendary' and 'Towering' Figure of Environmental Movement

Even when an Obama aide is forced to resign after it's revealed he's so radical he signed his name to 9/11 conspiracy theories and belonged to Marxist revolutionary groups, The Washington Post is still buttering him up as a "legendary" and "towering" figure of the environmental movement.

This leaves the question: how radical then, is the environmental movement? (And yet, notice that's the Post's indirect way of suggesting someone's a left-wing warrior.) On page 3 of  Saturday's newspaper, reporters Garance Franke-Ruta (formerly of the lefty magazine The American Prospect) and Anne Kornblut used the L word, legendary:

Jones, a legendary figure in the environmental movement, has worked for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, as special adviser for green jobs, since March.

It shifted to "towering" after Jones resigned. From the overnight story by Garance and Anne:

Jones, a towering figure in the environmental movement, had worked for the White House Council on Environmental Quality since March.

In today's afternoon dispatch by Garance and Scott Wilson, the "towering" remained, even as the radical views and alliances are explained:

Jones, a towering figure in the environmental movement, had issued two public apologies in recent days. One was for signing a petition in 2004 from the group 911Truth.org that questioned whether Bush administration officials "may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war," and the other for using a crude term to describe Republicans in a speech he gave before joining the administration.

His previous involvement with the now-defunct Bay Area radical group Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), which had Marxist roots, also emerged as an issue.

It makes you wonder how offensive Van Jones would have to be for his reputation to come back to the environmentalists' precious Earth.

Watch out.........

Watch out Americans, they are trying to surround us with many radicals!  I'm sure he will be a force in this administration to face again somewhere down the line.

One down , thousands to go.

"Lets start to clean out the pigpen........in 2010"

He's not gone . . .

He may not be in the tax-payer paid position of 'Green Jobs Czar,' but does anyone honestly believe that the influence of Van Jones'  on this President and White House is truly gone?

The important lesson we learned from his appointment is that Obama continues to surround himself with radical Leftists -- including this self-professed Communist.   That Obama had the hubris (or naivete) to appoint this guy to a visible government position vice rely on his advice in the shadows, speaks volumes of Obama's true politics.

"Jones, a legendary figure

"Jones, a legendary figure in the environmental movement..."

"Jones, a towering figure in the environmental movement..."

Lazy mainstream media. Everyone knows you just did a universal search and replace: "Van Jones" for "Teddy Kennedy" and "environmental movement" for "U.S. Senate".

Must be nice when the stories are already 90% written week to week.

Hey but Tim...why I heard

Hey but Tim...why I heard on CNN this morning he created millions of green jobs for people, helping our faltering economy dontcha know...why he's the cream of the crop according to them, this is all the big bad crazy right-wingers fault....

I say job well done, since I suppose I'm a crazy right-winger as well.

Van Jones..."Legendary"..."Towering"...

What a guy.

Jones, a legendary, towering

Jones, a legendary, towering Communist figure...

Two questions for Mr.

Two questions for Mr. Towering Environmentalist Figure:

1) Please explain the physics of a photovotaic solar cell...

2) Can you give an exact number of how many green jobs the organizations you led have generated (people on your payroll or volunteers don't count)...

Or,

just what, exactly, a green job really is?  Mr. Jones?  What's that, you don't know?  Perfect, just perfect.

But then, the WaPo, like the NYT,  is a towering example of ignorance, bias and all that's wrong with the State Run Media.

Exactly...The fact that Jones couldn't even answer that basic...

a question, should have been more than enough reason for this idiot to never have had the "job"(such as it is) in the first place...Bottom line is that Obama wanted his good radical, racist Commie buddy on board his administration, and the fact that Jones didn't know his a$$ from a hole in the ground, was completely irrelevant.

The answer to #1 was published in a paper by Einstein in 1905. The answer to #2 is 42. Which is my standard answer to all unanswerable questions.

exactly what has the legendary and towering Van Jones

ACCOMPLISHED in his stay on God's green earth.

FWIW I spent 4 months mucking elephant dung way back in the days of Rhodesia (of blessed memory) at the Wankie Game Park elephant veternarian pen...mind you I did not not need a Yale Law degree to do my green contribution.....and mind you again I did not need a federal grant to put the shovel in motion....

Speaking of shovels, these very people who I consider the enemy within are busy using their own shovels, digging without the heavy-lifting, just opening their yappers daily is going to be their very own burial not long from now.

'Go Green...Recycle Congress'

But one issue as described by the great Mark Levin is the fact

that these radicals burrow themselves into the federal bureaucracy as their appointed positions (ie political appointments w/o civil service protection) are converted into high ranking civil service positions where they continue to do their damage through the years....

Boy howdy, the great one is el correcto as usual...I'm never going to live long enough to see them all rooted out...hopefully some, well, heck, hopefully a helluva lot....the mood of this country at this time, does give me hope.

'Go Green...Recycle Congress'

OBAMA BUSTED AGAIN!

'Vetting problems' my @ss.

Obama WANTS radical socialists who despise this country AND its citizens.

Why else would he appoint someone everyone KNOWS is a 'self-avowed Communist'?

Who formed a Marxist revolutionary group in the mid-90's?

Who formed a racist group (intended specifically to foster a 'black' agenda), 'Color of Change', whose principal tactic to date has not been debate and discussion, but attacks, intimidation and silencing of any opposition?

Or defended Munia Abu-Jamal and called Officer Faulkner's supporters 'the KKK'?

This was already public record. Even before the latest revelations over 'truthers' (where Van Jones lied his @ss off), Obama knew who and what he was appointing.

We can tell who Obama is by whom he appoints, or tries to appoint anyway. Obama is in full and complete agreement with Van Jones' Marxist, anti-American beliefs.

He would not have asked Van Jones to resign absent overwhelming pressure.

That's OK. His next commissar will be just as radical, Marxist and anti-American as Van Jones.

Van Jones d'Arc

Had conservatives known what a saint this guy was, I'm sure they wouldn't have divulged his questionable past activities.

I'm sorry.. but has Van Jones actually every accomplished..

I'm sorry here .. but has Van Jones actually every accomplished anthing of note, other than write a book, be a civil rights activist/lawyer and serve as a radical for the far left?

Has he created any jobs? Established a business that resulted in a 'green' advancement? Made substantial capital improvements to his own home to make it energy effecient, or 'green?'

I suspect that all he actually has accomplished is to use his loud and vile rhetorical voice.

"Legendary' and 'Towering?' Oh Crapola.

This is easy, if all one has to do is yak. Here: "I think that we can all live together in peace and harmony, make the earth green, stop climate change.. in effect create and sustain a universal utopian society. How? Oh well, all you have to do is vote for change. Now - those that don't agree with me are 'ass-holes' and/or are a part of a government conspiracy which was behind 9/11. Go Commies - that is the way!"

OK, I'm ready for an interview.

Life is easy, with a national media at your back.

Hi Gary.... that is

Hi Gary....

that is exactly what I wanted CNN to do this morning...prove what they were saying about Jones creating millions of green jobs for us since he was appointed, which of course they didn't, they just whined on and on, blaming it all of the right-wingers basically, plus NOT saying he agreed with the Truthers....just simply saying he thought the gov. did the 9-11 attack, but minimalizing it as much as possible, it was infuriating, let alone their omission of all that was and has been uncovered about him other than that were not there in the various reports...of course.

'Go Green...Recycle Congress'

bt -

You bet. Also, I was curious to find out if Van Jones actually had any sort of either an eduational, or hands-on, background in something to do with green energy -- or in implementing economic social change.  To date, I've found nothing.

I suspect that all we are going to get is all this talk of .."he was a man of vision - leadership," etc.

I've got to run.. what a day!

The only thing missing.....

The only thing missing from Van Jones, which would have had the Washingt on Post gasping for air and attacking him before he resigned, would have been if he'd said the word "macaca".  Yes, friends, if he'd have said that, we would have seen article after article about everything he'd ever done and, in each article, would have been the fact that he'd said "macaca".

They would have printed a 20 year old college thesis and attacked him on a daily basis, calling him unfit to serve, if only he would have said, "macaca".  It also would have helped if he were a Republican.

Election 2008-God's way of showing us that elections count.

Thinker, I didn't see your comment before I posted mine below. I should have read everything through, first. Great points! GMTA.

When asked to explain the "towering" and "legendary" superlatives lavished on van jones today, WAPO editorial staff explained:

Well, he didn't call anybody "macaca". We reserve our harshest critique for anyone who uses such degrading language against others. van jones is a true American, respected by all, and forced out of his job by mean republicans who have twisted the meaning of his insightful and profound statements.

Obviously, the only people

Obviously, the only people that had ever heard of this whacko are his fellow  eco-whackos.

   Green is the old Red.

   Green is the old Red.

It is not about the environment or the earth.

It may have been decades ago. It is about power now. Power over our lives. Van Jones was just speaking the truth about the environmental movement. It is a way to get the foot in the door.

Of course the movement is radical. They are ignoring evidence that humans have had little impact on the climate. It is all about the sun. The sun is the biggest driver of climate. Always was, always will be. Look here. The sun is not just a static 60 watt light bulb hanging up in the sky. It has cycles.

The small changes in solar irradiance that occur during the solar cycle exert a small influence on Earth’s climate, with periods of intense magnetic activity (the solar maximum) producing slightly higher temperatures, and solar minimum periods such as that seen in 2008 and early 2009 likely to have the opposite effect. Periods of intense magnetic activity on the Sun can spawn severe space weather that damages infrastructure in our high-tech society.

Like small enough to change the global temperature of the earth 1 degree in 100 years? YES. YES. YES. 100 times YES.

The environmental movement is radical because they are certainly not environment.

Sincerely,

a Veteran of a 1000 psychic wars.

Sadly, for WaPo, ...

... signing your name to 9/11 conspiracy theories and belonging to Marxist revolutionary groups  MAKES you a "legendary" and "towering" figure.

Meet the Press - hilarious

You have to watch it to see the arrogance.

Thomas Friedman tried to pass off Van Jones' resignation as just the "viral" nature of the internet springing forth smear campaigns. All the accusations against Van Jones as a radical were just the imaginations of people with cellphones.

Brokaw followed this with the advice ... I'm not kidding ... you have to vet information from the internet. Well, how about vetting information from the media? They hate it when you suggest that We're supposed to take their word for it, and let them shape our worldview.

They deny any media bias, and yet they have the nerve to "instruct" America to vet information from other sources carefully. Their argument comes down to this: Distrust everyone else but them.

KC

I just watched that, and yeah, I could not believe what was coming out of those MSDNC holes. Absolutely jaw-dropping.

KC... I saw some of that

KC...

I saw some of that arrogance this morning, couldn't take much either.

They cannot get over the fact we have the internet...which has busted that pompous elitist bubble they have dwelled in forever.

Poor wittle babies...they still think if they repeat their BS often enough all will believe it...coming to the point now where it is only they who are living in that world still do so.... as they pat each other on the back in the green room with thumbs up....somewhere.   ;-)

'Go Green...Recycle Congress'

hey BT

What these shnooks don't get is, the internet is there for EVERYONE .... like, um, JOURNALISTS at NEWS PROGRAMS and NEWSPAPERS ..... who, if they CARED, would have used the INTERNET to help them dig up stuff.

Oh, but right, this is stuff they didn't want to dig up.

Un. Real.

Evenin' MrS... As far as

Evenin' MrS...

As far as I am concerned...they know full well, pretense is one of their biggest tactics...they know full well what has been dug up as well, hence their 'one for all' talking points on all airwaves...

Follow what I'm trying to say?

'Go Green...Recycle Congress'

BT

Yes, I am. You're right. And I was sort of being facetious. :p ... saying, they're the dishonest ones who very much know the importance of the internet. But when it's convenient and what's uncovered is not in line with their agenda, they ATTACK the internet instead.

It's disgusting.

MrS...gotcha'...that it is,

MrS...gotcha'...that it is, and then some.

'Go Green...Recycle Congress'

yes, Tom everyone has your job

and everyone does it better than you do.

Curious about what he might mean "this is something we'll have to address".  I wish they wouldn't have spoke over him because I think he was about to put his foot in his mouth there.

It's quite ironic for an

It's quite ironic for an eco-parasite like Thomas Friedman to defend Van Jones, another eco-parsite, by claiming the internet is "viral".

Meanwhile, Brokaw, one of Dan Rather's chief dissemblers in the wake of Memogate, has the nerve to complain about accuracy in information found on the internet.  Brokaw is simply embittered because the internet holds people of his ilk to account for their glaring dishonesty...something he's not used to enduring.  Either that or he's just high off the Aquanet, as usual.

Van Jones lies and distortions

And don't forget, Jones said he was destroyed by "lies and distortions" but he didn't mention a single thing said about him that was either.

Friedman talks about "everything you say is now a digital footprint....don't say anything controversial...."

I would put it differently, Tom... I would just tell them not to lie and try to hide things, because they will be found out!

Liberals just hate it when they are quoted accurately!!

"Legendary".  Guess we

"Legendary".  Guess we need to revisit that term.

So the first "towering"

So the first "towering" figure of the "environmental" movement has has fallen.  Timber!  Time to continue cutting these Marxist parasites cloaked as "environmentalists" off at the knees.

green is the new red

What is a green job?  That question got my post deleted on Joe Romm (soros ilk and sock puppet) web site called climate progress.  About the only thing I see that is a green job is carrying protest signs.  (made from paper that comes from trees)

As far as I can tell, a

As far as I can tell, a "Green" Job is what you get when you lose your real job and must look upon others who still have their real jobs in envy as you collect unemployment.  In that context, Obama has created and/or saved millions of Green Jobs.

I bet this guy has never created a single job, green or otherwise, in his entire life.
