On Monday, Jonah Goldberg at The Corner forwarded a shocking page from the Organizing for America website (mybarackobama.com) that promoted setting aside 9/11 as a day to call Senators to pass a Public Option as they “fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists.” They also suggest conservatives are "the heirs of yes, bin Laden."
Will the major media notice? So much for No-Drama Barack Obama uniting the country in hope and change. The Heritage Foundation blog The Foundry noticed that the Obama organizers pulled the page, as it now says: "INVALID EVENT URL: The URL you clicked references an event that does not exist. This event may have existed at one time but been subsequently deleted." The text is nothing less than jaw-dropping, as they describe a day of telephone activism directed at liberal Illinois Senators Dick Durbin and Roland Burris:
Our US Senators return to DC the Tues after Labor Day. That next FRIDAY, Sep 11, is Patriot Day, designated in memory of the nearly three thousand who died in the 9/11 attacks.
All 50 States are coordinating in this – as we fight back against our own Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists who are subverting the American Democratic Process, whipped to a frenzy by their Fox Propaganda Network ceaselessly re-seizing power for their treacherous leaders.
Story Continues Below Ad ↓DO YOU WANT to ensure passage of the Public Plan? Since 75% of Americans support it, I guess it's time for us Seventy-Five Percenters to be heard. Why Public Plan? = Because It’s American To Take Care Of Our Own!
And, according to a White House Advisor to the President with whom I spoke ten days ago at a DNC Panel, he said, "ON ONE DAY you 'burn-up' the Senate Switchboards - THE NEXT DAY you've got the Senator's attention". We will achieve that effect, on Friday, Patriot Day 9/11...
After the Senate phone numbers, the rant picks up again:
2 PHONE CALLS ON 9/11 – BE A TRUE PATRIOT –
DEFEAT ANTI-DEMOCRATIC FORCES OF HATE WHO CONSPIRE TO REMAIN HEALTHY + WEALTHY WHILE THE PUBLIC LANGUISHES UNDER THE BURDEN OF OUR PRESENT HEALTH CARE SYSTEM –
—-* RECLAIM OUR LAND FROM THE HEIRS OF, YES: BIN LADEN *—-* YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE *—-
In case you haven't seen it in the News: Republican Representatives, Senators, GOP Party Leader, GOP Political Machine top personnel (e.g., Gingritch), etc etc etc —- they're ALL every one of them applauding and encouraging their zealot-horde by merrily referring to them as "Proud Right-Wing Terrorists". Google it - I'm not pulling your leg.
But don't hate them: Misguided citizens are easy-pickings for demagogues, whom they blindly follow because they’ve been trained all their lives not to question the dogma of their religion, so it’s natural for them NOT TO QUESTION what’s being spoon-fed to them by their FALSE PROPHETS who, themselves, shamelessly seek Worldly Glory.
They don’t apply the simple Test: "Am I being led closer to God, when I do what these folks say? – Or, am I on a Bullet-Train to the Devil, and I’m just a pawn to make these folks richer and more powerful?" Because, you know: the Faith one has in God, is different from faith one should have in Man. And you need to be even MORE skeptical, when one of ‘em says that God picked them for something or another. You can bet whatever they’re doing is making them more powerful/ more wealthy, and certainly less pious, no? Ooops, and following them is making YOU less pious too, in thought, and in deed. Yesseree, it’s a real thing to chew on.

September 1, 2009 - 15:34 ET by choselife3xThat deserves a H O L Y S H ! T. This truly is not America anymore.
Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important? (cause we're too stupid to know what's best for us)
As students listen to the speech, they could think about the following: What is the President trying to tell me? What is the President asking me to do? What new ideas and actions is the President challenging me to think about? (be a good little sheeple!)
Students might think about: What specific job is he asking me to do? Is he asking anything of anyone else? Teachers? Principals? Parents? The American people? (Uh oh, my parents aren't doing what Obama says, what does the manual say to do about that?)
Students could discuss their responses to the following questions: What do you think the President wants us to do? Does the speech make you want to do anything? Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us? What would you like to tell the President? (I know what I'd like to tell him..)
Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals. (March, lemmings!! March!)

While I empathize with the teachers - in times such as this when the unemployment rate is nearing 10% I would say its better to build good faith with your community rather than push for things that the district already cannot afford. A LOT of very good younger / newer teachers lost their jobs at the end of the last school season so that these more experienced ones might still keep theirs.
Otherwise it does not impact us. My husband and I split our work schedules so one of us is always home. They can stay on strike for a month. Worst case scenario, we home school. If only we could have our 4K in taxes back.

Why not wait until it is reported what he actually says in the speech before condemning the event beforehand. I condemn any speech made by any politican that is directed solely at children. Children have no place in politics. Except in North Korea. And Hitler's Germany. Stalinist Russia. Castro's Cuba. Red China. Did I leave any out?
Update: Presidential aides acknowledged the White House helped the U.S.
Education Department craft the proposal, which immediately was met by
fierce criticism from Republicans and conservative organizations who
accused Mr. Obama of trying to politicize the education system.
Whaddaya know, the WHITE HOUSE "helped craft the proposal". You know, the one that asked kids to think about what they can do to "help the President" and asks "What is the President asking us to do?"

September 2, 2009 - 23:16 ET by Carl KolchakMy sincerest apologies. I do quite a bit of research on East Germany and the Stasi and learned about this Operation Forget Me Not the Stasi was involved with in regards to sending out hate messages to look like it was coming from West Germany. The link above is an excerpt from a magazine and it appears a Jewish historian discovered wrote about the East Germans sending the false information. I tried to see if this David Irving at the bottom had more information in regards to the Stasi, but it turns out this guy is a hardcore Holocaust denier. I did not know who he was and apologize for that. Holocaust deniers are very hateful and cause a great deal of pain, so I apologize for providing a link to someone who is associated with Holocaust denying, but thought the information about false information being sent by Communists was relevant.

September 2, 2009 - 23:55 ET by celatorKarl.. no need to apologise. Your intent is good, and you are forthright enough to let us know about the Irving issue. I wish you well in your continued research.
As I mentioned somewhere earlier, I have come to the study of history late in life. I read a lot, and have a lot more to read to get the "full story" in any particular area. My eyes are not good these days, so I read slowly. It's sounds like you are very well versed in the Cold War era.
I spent a lot of time (60-63) in Berlin at the height of the Cold War, and witnessed the Berlin Wall being constructed from the first day of its construction. Someday, I'd like to write about what that was like, but haven't done so to date. I had friends in East Berlin I never saw again after that day. I was there as part of a special Army unit.
I am particularly worried about Obama's Afghanistan venture. It's like expecting our military men and women to march into battle under the leadership of Elmer Fudd. It's been on my mind a lot in the last few days. I'm too old and weary to participate in a rah-rah "let's go fight a war" frame of mind, anymore. Easy to say "let's go get them" when you're safe here and sitting in a comfortable chair. Like a lot of NB'ers, I've seen war up close and it's as nasty a deal as you can imagine, particularly when it's a political war and our men and women are used as pawns. I suspect you are well aware of that. Blood is spilled for nothing. My wife's brother was killed in Korea, and for what?
I wish you well.

Most of the books I read are either on the Cold War, or WWII, and I read military history magazines and interact on an international military history forum where I really gain a lot of insight from other people around the world. I don't read authors who deny the Holocaust and the authors I like to read do a good job on WWII. I was shocked to hear about what Irving's thoughts were. The Holocaust deniers are very hateful. When I first saw the cemetery I had no idea why the Russians would have one in that location (it's in what was the American sector), so I did a little research (I was about 19 at the time, I guess, and knew nothing).
Of course, I discovered what an amazing battle the Russians mounted for the defeat of Berlin, and how many were killed in the process. It was really a slaughter for all. Hence the cemetery. It's a sacred place for the Russian people. I'm sure they want that story told accurately, from their point of view.

Sounds like hate to me.
September 1, 2009 - 15:15 ET by West Coast MinorityThe certitude which the Left exhibits in assessing the motives and thoughts of those that disagree with them is astounding. That rant is so full of hate and bigotry, but the most amazing thing is the irony of their projection.
I am always puzzled by secular people telling people of religion what is wrong with their faith. Or trying to explain how a person of faith thinks, and how it is wrong.
But, the more desperate they get the more hateful they become, so based on that formula, they are becoming very, very desperate.
I still get shocked at the level of hate that the Left displays in plain daylight. I may never get accustomed to that.

September 1, 2009 - 15:29 ET by RR GOPOK, so the polls out there show that most Americans are against this health plan, and these Communists are trying to force it through anyway...so much for the democratic process BS.
Who are these people? I know some libs, but these types in this report are truly scary people.
One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 86% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.

The fascists are getting bolder and bolder
September 1, 2009 - 16:13 ET by c5thenThey are comming out of their closets and ranting about all the patriots that have the temerity and the courage to stand up and point out that this country is in danger of being taken over by socialists/fascists/communists from the inside.
We have to throw these enemies of the Constitution out as fast as possible and it has to be in a landslide. Acorn and it's minions are spun up to prevent a small majority from unelecting these cowards. Acorn might be able to generate a couple of thousand votes in certain key districts, but they cannot compete with millions of angry, fed up Americans voicing their displeasure at the polls.

Cha Cha Change
September 1, 2009 - 17:05 ET by upcountrywaterIn a dark futuristic
world, literature, reading, and independent thought have been outlawed.
The government has gone so far as to employ a special league of firemen
to burn all books on sight. But when one otherwise obedient fireman
(Oskar Werner) meets an intriguing revolutionary (Julie Christie), she
provokes him to question the legitimacy of his actions. Tensions mount
when he blatantly transgresses the very laws he's employed to enforce,
and his terrified wife becomes an informant. Because the subject of
censorship seems to be perpetually contemporary, one can argue that the
significant social impact of FAHRENHEIT 451 will forever be current.
Burn OPPS RECYCLE books, older than 1999... Close web sites, FINE radio stations...

Cathymv - but you know
September 2, 2009 - 08:25 ET by FeynmanFanBut you know that the whole purpose of branding you with a title like "domestic terrorist" is to force you to defend yourself against that charge instead of pushing for the things you believe. It's like branding someone a racist for non-racist remarks, or calling someone homophobic. The whole purpose is to deflect the debate away from the real issues. The only reasonable response is to ignore the name calling and push forward.
