Jon Stewart: Fox Newsers Are 'Extremists' Who View the World Through 'S**t-Colored Glasses'

Alex Leo at The Huffington Post was delighted that Jon Stewart mocked Fox News "crazypants coverage" of President Obama's opus in Cairo. Stewart said of the speech: "How will it play with the extremists?" and then showed a Fox News Alert logo and a set of Fox clips.

Then Stewart just let the hate flow, mocking Fox's Gretchen Carlson with these words: "What a torture it must be for such pretty people to have to see such ugly things. That's what happens when you view the world and apparently hear the world through "s--t-colored glasses." (Complete with bleep.) Who hears with glasses?

In the snippet Comedy Central plucked out, Carlson was pointing out that it might be considered odd to pander to Middle Eastern countries where America is unpopular. Stewart thought it was obvious that you need to "woo" dictatorial Middle Eastern regimes as Obama is seeking to do.

You know it's getting weird when Bush-era liberal cynics start bashing people for being "cynical." That's apparently out of style now, as Stewart lamented Fox: "Wow, you guys are so cynical!"

What followed was thoroughly unfunny, unless you begin with the assumption that you cannot believe people do not see that Barack Obama is not just a gift to Americans, but a gift the whole world should treasure. The editing is quick and dirty, and Fox anchors and conservatives from Michelle Malkin to Jonah Goldberg are sliced into pieces and mocked as crazy.

It gets especially weird when Stewart sets Fox up like a straw man as opponents of diplomacy. "You’re the network that most vociferously and enthusiasticallly supported our attempts to reform a region through military action. But where you draw the line is conversation. Maybe you don't mind engaging the Middle East. It’s Obama's methodology. Perhaps if his words carried more pop." Stewart showed a video imagining the Cairo crowd being bombed with words like "tolerance" and "respect."

He thinks it's delicious. I'd say it shows that the Obama years are not going to be good years for Stewart's "edge."

2010: A GOP Hill

I see balboa's favorite personality it at it again. I knew his

supposed objectivity wouldn't last long.  Poor Johnny.... no more Bush or Cheney to harp on day in and day out.

Thats odd

But when I put on my "s--t-colored glasses" all I see is Jon  Stewart.;-)

Latest from a s***t-for-brains TV "entertainer"

Sigh!

His ratings will drop.

"DumbAssity of Dope"

..and I'm sure Stewert

..and I'm sure Stewart joins the kumbaya's I heard in the early hours of the morning on msnbc insinuating the reasons the voting turn out and the poll results so far in Lebanon were a result from O's speech last week in Cairo.

Wonder if he, along with the msnbc crew (and may be other leftist networks too for all I know) give Obama credit for the right side of the aisle winning big time in Europe.

Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart

Sometimes I can't tell, was

Sometimes I can't tell, was the clown nose on or off?

This coming from an extreme left-wing Marxist supporter...

...who obviously has sh*t for brains.

I don't watch this uneducated moron's show, and I pity anyone who does.

Stewart is much too unintelligent to see it, but Barack Hussein Obama is very rapidly creating a post-American world. Has this clueless imbecile even stopped for a moment to wonder what such a world will be like?

As for Fox News, they are (maybe) middle-of-the-road, at best.

-Dave

Okay....

Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean that they're uneducated.  He's clearly quite intelligent - more so than most TV personalities.  Hell, he's probably - gasp! - smarter than you!  Oh, and the Hussein thing is getting pretty stale; plus, it's not really even that clever.

 Smiles!

Zippers is getting upset;

Zippers is getting upset; poor zippy.  I know now we are on the right tack.  He may be educated but that does not mean they are not stupid.

GASP  - no, he isn't.

GASP  - no, he isn't.  He's a desperate famewhore like everyone else in
Hollywood, doing what everyone else does, which is trashing
conservatives 24/7.

Your stupidity is absolutely astounding.  It really is.

profiling disagreement

"Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean that they're uneducated."   True.  They could be ugly and obnoxious, instead. :)  It's fair to call 'em uneducated if their position on an issue is rooted in superficial misunderstandings and negligent analysis, though.

"He's clearly quite intelligent - more so than most TV personalities."  Perhaps, but only because most TV personalities are about as smart as your average Chia pet.

Maybe Jon S*****t is smarter than us.  I'm sure he's smarter than our TelePrompTer in Chief.  He's got to be pretty smart to land a job where he's paid to dispense cheap sarcasm and condescending derision to anyone who dares to oppose the Left.

As for "the Hussein thing" -- who cares if it's getting stale?  It was never meant to be clever in the first place.  It was meant to make a salient point about the man being swept into top office by a tidal wave of irrational exuberance... the man who treats our national history as a burdensome embarrassment, who acts as if the constitution only protects a person's right to vote (regardless of whether they're citizens or living) and a woman's right to abort (regardless of whether she's already in labor or not), and who hides his personal records from public view while bragging about 'transparency'.

Apparently only the superficial point (that he was born Muslim) registered with some people, though.

I didn't know being muslim

I didn't know being muslim meant that you shouldn't be president.  Seriously, just because that doesn't bother everybody as much as it must bother you doesn't make it wrong.

I may see the world...

through sh!t colored glasses; but it is much clearer than the glasses all the zombies walking around believing all the Obama drivel, ala the 'They Live" movie with Rowdy Roddy Piper.

President Obama is nothing more than a lying empty suit; a Hollywood style special effects smoke and mirrors show that has shown itself to be a total fraud.

WAKE UP AMERICA! SAVE OUR CONSTITUTION!

They Live

A surprisingly enjoyable movie, considering the poor script and weak acting...

Look, Either Stewart

Look, Either Stewart doesn't believe the crap he's spewing out in which case he's an odious hypocrite.

Or, he does believe it in which case he's a moron.

In either case, who cares? I found The Daily Show OFF button a long time ago.

Re: What he believes

It's hard to know what he believes since he simply reads words from a teleprompter written by a large staff of liberal comedy writers. In fact he uses the same kind of teleprompters that the Bamster uses. He failed at standup comedy, and he failed at acting, but he is somewhat successful at reading teleprompters, like his idol.

Define "failed" in regards

Define "failed" in regards to standup comedy.

Define "failed" in regards

Define "failed" in regards to standup comedy

He is sitting down for one thing.

Ohhhhh... Wait, what?

Ohhhhh...

Wait, what?

And...

and the same kind of teleprompters Hannity uses, Olbermann uses, Beck uses, CNN uses, Fox News uses, MSNBC uses, and anyone on TV uses.  THEY ALL READ OFF OF TELEPROMPTERS.

Has he ever watched his show?

Jon (with the pretentious spelling) has it backwards. It's his show, his party, his man in the White House who sees America as a dim, apocalyptic, "arrogant, derisive, and divisive" country who are (according to them) bent on destroying our environment with our out of control lifestyles.

Besides Jon (with the pretentious spelling), after Obama makes idiotic statements like, " ... we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.  I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it", those of us who love our country don't need glasses to see shit.

People like Stewart and his

People like Stewart and his audience need a strawman to mindlessly hate and ridicule. It throws him off his game when he has to explain his "jokes" - uh - I suppose they're jokes - I mean, I guess he meant this to be "funny" - but it really wasn't.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

I thought the Fox

I thought the Fox commentator was the "strawman" in this example?

Anyone can be a straw man,

Anyone can be a straw man, Fox employee or otherwise. It's just that Gretchen Carlson is a kind of weak substitute for George W Bush. When one has to explain the joke it makes it pretty weak.

The "Mainstream" Media: By liberals. For liberals.

well thats interesting,

well thats interesting, since that is what they are calling europeans who have voted the right back in. That really has to yank obzos chain, everyone is leaning right, going to be lonely at the top for the left nutters

Stewert is Right

How can informed people not see the United States through anything other then sh*t colored glasses when Obama is flushing us down the toilet?

"I've sentenced boys younger then you to the gas chamber.  Didn't want to do it, but I felt I owed it to them."  Judge Smails

Why do people find Liebowitz funny?

Why do people think Jon Liebowitz a.k.a. Jon Stewart is funny? He’s not funny. He’s crude and tasteless. People keep telling me how funny he is and how I should watch the “Daily Show.” Why? So I can watch him say things like this?

Tolerance and respect? Bold words coming from a man who during one show last fall told Sarah Palin, “F*ck you!”

Bold words coming from a person who dismissed Mark Levin’s book “Liberty and Tyranny” as a diatribe from an angry conservative who’s just pissed off that a Democrat is in the White House, saying “It’s supposed to taste like a sh*t sandwich.” Except if he actually read the book, which he most likely didn’t, he would have know Levin wrote the lion’s share of the book before Obama was even elected.

Jon Stewart Liebowitz, you are as clueless as that president you worship. Michelle Malkin and Jonah Goldberg have had hangnails with more intelligence and class than you will ever have. You are also ignorant, hateful, and intolerant of anybody who doesn’t think exactly the same as you and your not very enlightened audience.

Just like a liberal.

Look in the mirror, Liebowitz. There you’ll discover the real extremist in this scenario.

Humor is Learned

The popular culture teaches the youth that the type of trash that Stewart spouts is funny.  I spent some formative years, (as you might guess by my signature), learning that the insults and self deprecating humor tossed around by Rodney Dangerfield were funny.

I think a huge difference in the pop culture of today, vs the pop culture of prior to 15 or so years ago is one of politics.  It's not so much that "the establishment" is out of step and should be made fun of, but "conservative values" are out of step and should be made fun of.

"I've sentenced boys younger then you to the gas chamber.  Didn't want to do it, but I felt I owed it to them."  Judge Smails

What did you think of the pop culture

How'd you like the popular culture of the 60's ? What parts did you like and hate the most?  Did you like Laugh-in?

I didn't leave the Republican party, they kicked me out.

Haven't we discussed the 60's before?

I was a pretty young kid during the 60's so my like or dislike of the popular culture has to be measured through those eyes.  I don't really like or dislike any popular culture of any particular decade.  There are parts I like and parts I can do without, but I can uderstand why younger people find the current pop culture of any era appealing to them.

I use to watch Laugh-In all the time and thought it was hilarious.  But since I was younger, I think what I found humorous was more centered around the slapstick stuff, like the guy falling over on the tricycle, and Tiny Tim, and Arty Johnston saying "Very Interesting".

I much more enjoyed the Three Stooges that was on in the afternoon when I got home from school though!

If you are looking for my current thought on the pop culture of the 60's, the biggest difference between the 60's and later decades would have to be the absolute amount of content available.  I'll always remember the 60's as having the five television stations where I grew up, the three majors and WGN and PBS.  When we visited my Grandmother about 200 miles away, she had only two.  So the vast majority of the pop culture was simply not that edgy.  Johnny Carson couldn't afford to be political because he would lose 1/2 his audience.

As far as pop culture goes, the 60's were pretty tame, with groups like The Carpenters and Captain and Tenile(sp?), and Andy Williams being top entertainers as the 60s ended.  Sure, FM radio was an emerging force and there was a counter culture that was centered around the Vietnam war, but it wasn't a major part of the pop culture.  If someone was actually deeply involved in the counter-culture, campus riots, drugs and stuff like that, I could see where they would think that the 60's was revolutionary.

But they didn't call it the counter-culture for nothing......hehe.

Do me the return favor of letting me know your thoughts on this subject.

"I've sentenced boys younger then you to the gas chamber.  Didn't want to do it, but I felt I owed it to them."  Judge Smails

That's too funny.

"Andy Williams being top entertainers as the 60s ended. "

Where were you dude..ever hear of Led Zeppelin?

You're making my point for me.

Led Zeppelin formed in what, 1968?  And I'll agree with you that Led Zeppelin was certainly bigger then Andy Williams...in the 1970's.

But we are talking about pop-culture in the 1960's, and that's a lot more then just record sales and concert attendance.  Williams had his own television show that was huge.  Television is part of the pop-culture.  Pop-culture isn't just limited to rock bands.

So while Led Zeppelin was cranking out hits in the 1968 and 1969, they didn't reach as big a total audience as Andy Williams did during the 1960s.

"I've sentenced boys younger then you to the gas chamber.  Didn't want to do it, but I felt I owed it to them."  Judge Smails

My life

My life won't be complete until I hear just one more garage band playing their rendition of "Stairway to Heaven."

<sarcasm>

I didn't leave the Republican party, they kicked me out.

Ever hear....

Or maybe Andy Williams singing Stairway to Heaven?

"I've sentenced boys younger then you to the gas chamber.  Didn't want to do it, but I felt I owed it to them."  Judge Smails

Stranger things have happened

Have you ever seen the duet with David Bowie and Bing Crosby ?

I know its on YouTube. Its quite beautiful. But I think I would pass on Andy Williams version of "Stairway to Heaven." :)

I didn't leave the Republican party, they kicked me out.

My thoughts on this

Is we could've been brothers and grew up in the same house. Now of course not really, but your experience is very similar to mine.

I too, wasn't much more than a child when Laugh-in was on. When I came home from school reruns of "I love lucy" "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "Gilligan's Island" was on, and for awhile a beach show called "A happening '68.". I can't tell you how many letters I've written to local television and cable stations when stuff like "Jerry Springer" and "Maurie Povich" started airing in the afternoon. I think I was in my 30's at the time. I wish they didn't have 115 or whatever cable and satellite channels. I don't see a lot of pluses from the information overload. I despise reality TV. I wish kids could have the type of childhood we had, when there were only 4 or 5 channels and no internet or video games.

I always thought Henley hit it on the head with "The End of the Innocence." I feel that happened somewhere in the summer of '69 between the moon landing, Woodstock, and hurricane Camile. Maybe it was just my age - 13. But I know its never coming back. To be honest, I don't even know if it was better or if that's a brain distortion. It sure seemed better.

Anyway, I'm just trying to understand this huge divide.

Thanks for answering, and if doesn't seem detailed enough, ask more, I'll answer.

I didn't leave the Republican party, they kicked me out.

Huge divide?

By huge divide, are you talking about how we think, politically?

I spend a lot of time with my brother-in-law, who I have mentioned before on these forums.  He's a yellow dog Democrat, personal injury attorney, who pays no taxes because of all the loopholes and deductions he takes, due to his own business.  I can understand why he is a Democrat.  It's in his personal best interests to be one.  He is terrified that the United States will one day get serious tort reform and put him out of business.

But the divide between us, our beliefs and our values are not that much different.  He's just clueless as to what's best for America!

"I've sentenced boys younger then you to the gas chamber.  Didn't want to do it, but I felt I owed it to them."  Judge Smails

I think I know what you mean

I have a best friend from childhood that remains a best friend from childhood only because we never discuss politics or religion (especially after a few) :)

I didn't leave the Republican party, they kicked me out.

Unfortunatly my S**t colored

Unfortunatly my S**t colored glasses are merely showing me how the world really works, and its not pretty, hard choices need to be made every day and consequences for actions are ever present. However, I would not trade my glasses in for the rose colored glasses that liberals and most of hollywood are wearing when it comes to the current President regarding his actions and policies.

Like Ann said......

This is a perfect example, among many  of what Ann Coulter points out in her book GUILTY!. Obama himself nor his handlers need not attack the only televised news outlet that is making a coherent case against his destructive, ill-advised policies, namely FOX News -- why, he has the left-loving media do it for him.

This is how Obama rose to power, defeating all of his Chicago opponents making use of the same low-life, drive-by tactics offered free-of-charge by the Democrat controlled media in Chicago.

Read the stories of Jack Ryan and Blair Hull who got railroaded by the Chicago media acting on behalf of David Axelrod to unseal their divorce records and publish "dirty laundry" hit pieces about them and their private lives in the Chicago newspapers. The only difference here is that the strategy has been ramped up to prime-time national television.

Wow, you're hilarious!  LOL indeed!  I see what you did there - are you sure you're not a comedian?

And were you really laughing out loud?  Like, ha ha ha, out loud?  You must really be a funny guy!

Proof that you are quite

Proof that you are quite possibly the biggest moron on earth.  Just do us all a favor and hang yourself, okay?  You're only going to make yourself look like a bigger fool, unless you like being laughed at.

Wow, that's pretty harsh.

Wow, that's pretty harsh.  Yes, I think I will go and hang myself now; thank you for showing me the light.  I will now rid the world of myself so that your life can be just a little bit better.  Do you go to church?

I don't think being laughed at by people on this site would concern me that much.

Moment of Zen.

First you whine about the Jon Stewart using snippets but yet you yourself use snippets, and don't post any video.

The editing was so quick and dirty? he didn't splice various words to form the sentances he showed, they were a complete sentance to what the commentators were saying. And he did the same kind of editing for Obama's speech. He is a 30 min. show 4-days a week, he isn't on 24-7.

Here's the whole segment:

http://www.hulu.com/watch/76043/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-thu-jun-4-2009

Here are other segments in the last couple weeks where he lampoons MSNBC,

Hmmmm....

What's a "sentance"?

HMMMM...

Why is it that people on this website only point out a mispelling when they disagree with the comment. I have seen plenty of mispellings by those I disagree with but yet I don't point them out?

HMMMM....

well

Because you can't expect to be taken very seriously when you can't even take the time to spell words correctly.  Hell, a 10 year old can do that.

So you are saying 24 is not

So you are saying 24 is not even 10 years old?

Well, only if the reader is an idiot.

If you form your opinion of a person's intelligence by how well they spell check and proof read, you are the definition of an idiot.

see, this is funny because it is spot on accurate!  just like when he pointed out that in the military, torture is ok, but they draw the line on being gay.

Moment of Zen.

The Dan Choi piece was funny, well said, and funny because it was true.

Response to CritThinking

I can appreciate the comedy in the line "torture is ok, but they draw the line on being gay".  It's funny, but not spot on.  Spot on would have been ....draw the line on admitting you're gay.  But the extra "admitting" part takes a little away from the joke.

"I've sentenced boys younger then you to the gas chamber.  Didn't want to do it, but I felt I owed it to them."  Judge Smails

we pay for it

Add Comedy Central to the list of tv sites which we support by paying for cable and satellite tv.  I know it would be tough, but if we would stand up to these companies like Dish, Comcast, Direct, etc. and cancel our subscriptions to their service, it would not take long for them to see the light and offer packages which did not include Comedy Central, CNN, MTV, etc.  I say let's do it.  I'm sure ready.  Just think--Chris Mathews, Olberman, Stewart, Blitzer---all gone.

Call your cable or satellite company and demand that they remove CNN, MSNBC, and MTV from your entertainment package.  Stop subsidizing the liberal left.

Or

My Direct TV cable box also came with a remote control, maybe yours didn't I don't know. But with this remote 'control' you can 'control' what you want to watch and what you don't want to watch. So you don't have to watch any of those stations or people's shows.

I guess you should also boycott this site since these people and networks are the only ones they talk about. \

you missed the point

Yes, I'm not the dumbass you make me out to be.  I know there's a remote control which I can use to block the stations I don't want to see.  I don't need you to tell me that.  The point is: you're still paying for these stations whether you watch them or not.  The idea is to not pay for them by canceling there services.  I think you know what you can do with your remote control being you're such a genius and all.

Call your cable or satellite company and demand that they remove CNN, MSNBC, and MTV from your entertainment package.  Stop subsidizing the liberal left.

Moment of Zen.

So then following that same logic you should also call your internet provider, since CNN, MSNBC, and Comedy Central all have websites that you can watch the exact same show and content that your cable or satelite company provides? Your still paying and have access to the websites whether you go to them or not.

Yes, but the cable

Yes, but the cable bill/satellite bill still pays for those channels, moron!  God you people are just SO AMAZINGLY STUPID.

The idiots that you have been talking with are totally inept

libtards and known trolls.

They are trolling for any reaction whatsoever.  My apologies tho' I cannot do anything about it, but inform you.

Catherwood... I'm with

Catherwood...

I'm with you...I just don't think we're ever going to see it happen..the left would lose most likely with who subscribes to what and the leftist in congress would once again be whining and screeching for a Fairness Doctrine in this regard too.

Doubling down on stupid is not a particularly good idea. ~Andrew Breitbart

Never known you to be wrong

You're correct Big Timer. Have never known you to be wrong.  I canceled anyway after arguing vociferously with a Dish representative who actually talked down to me when I told him I didn't want to pay for CNN, BET, MTV and the other trash jockies. Funny thing is that other than baseball games I don't miss the satellite at all.  I've been watching Planet Earth, old World Series games, and reading a lot more.  Just finished Shelby Foote's 'Stars in Their Courses' and 'American Prometheus', both very good books.

Call your cable or satellite company and demand that they remove CNN, MSNBC, and MTV from your entertainment package.  Stop subsidizing the liberal left.

Jon Stewart has to say things like this. He speaks to juveniles, immature adults, and drug addicts. He's on the Comedy Channel, for chrissakes. By definition he's not allowed to be serious. (He sure as hell isn't funny, either, but that's another story.)

Why do conservative blogs and medium think they have to report everything
this moron has to say. The only real coverage he gets outside his own lap dog
viewers is when fair blogs report on his stupid, yes stupid comments. There
are actually some semi-reliable left leaning commentators who think and speak
rationally enough to get an idea what the other side is saying and thinking .
You don't (in the name of free speech) have to repeat everything this small
minded  munchkin has to say.

What rock are these toads

What rock are these toads going to hide under if the next 9-11 happens?  I suppose they'll dust off their Old Glories and wave them around for a few months like last time.  Then they'll blame Bush (both of them actually), say it was inside job, the Jews were behind it, blah, blah, blah.

Apologies to the real toads.

One of the 34% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 61% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory (yep...approval for Congress now at 39%...do you believe that!?).

Those idiots will be the first to say...let's stay calm and

understand what's going on...   Let's not get rash like when GWB was in office... let's think this through.

Sorry, I gotta go hurl right now....

Glasses...

The reason we have s**t-colored glasses is the federal government keeps crapping on our heads.

What the #$%^?

I have read your posting a dozen times looking  for some type of fact-based critique on the topic.  All I see is a lot of emotion based venting without giving any real reason to think you have "busted" any media bias at all.  What gives?  This page needs to change its name if it doesn't plan to provide logical, verifiable facts as an antidote for the "bias" you claim to be busting.

NewsBusters “Exposing & Combating Liberal Media Bias” --- what a sham.

I think the TV and radio show pieces

I think the fluff pieces about TV and radio personalities is just to keep the venom spewing :)

I didn't leave the Republican party, they kicked me out.

And it seems to be working.

A person may be won over with logic and reason but the masses must be bought with spectacle and platitudes. - 2008 Elections

The guy is overrated just

The guy is overrated just like every other TV  comedian.

He's a teleprompter jockey.   The show isn't even his idea.  He inherited it from Graig Kilborn, who was pulling the same material for years.  The satirical news show wasn't even an original idea back in the day.

It's easy to be perceived as "witty" when you have a team of a dozen writers writing jokes for you on a full time basis.

And he's also a media star in the same fashion as George Clooney.  He's only relevant to the MSM during elections and as a vehicle for spreading their propaganda. The Daily Show is a liberal news commentary show.  Throwing in one criticism on the left in between 1000 criticisms and slanders of the right doesn't equate to objectivity.  It's like throwing a handful of dirt on a mountain of dung.

The show was started by

The show was started by Kilborn. Stewart changed it to a much different show.

I can't wait for Jon to

I can't wait for Jon to grow up.

I guess killing babies, cheerleading for socialism, burning American flags, supporting our nation's enemies, and extolling the virtues of gay marriages are not extreme.
