Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, hallowed in the political community as a Meet the Press panelist and Newsweek contributor, displayed his satirical side on Wednesday on his leftist blog the Daily Kos:
Dear Conservatives,
If having hilarious tea bagging parties keeps you guys from shooting people up, then I heartily endorse them.
Hugs and kisses,
kos
Please compare this to the outrage liberals had over fellow Newsweek contributor Karl Rove when he cracked in 2005 that liberals saw 9/11 as an occasion for indictments and therapy. Newsweek's Washington Bureau Chief, Daniel Klaidman, complained at the time that Rove was trying to create "the sort of Republican fantasy of a liberal." Mr. Klaidman, any complaint now?

April 9, 2009 - 08:28 ET by dscottThere is an element of truth to what he is saying. The mark of a truly repressive government is to shut down ALL dissent. As long as people have a right to peacefully express their grievances, then at least they have a chance to be heard and not censored out.
Where Markos has it wrong is public protest against the ruling party is a heightened stage of public discontent due to policies foisted upon them against their will. Government only stands as long as the governed consent to the exercise of power. The next step is repression of dissent by the rulers because they refuse to listen.... then comes revolution.
Markos and the rulers of the US would do well to consider the governed are not pleased with the decision making process thus far. Keep making decisions the governed don't agree with, you become rulers not representatives and rulers are to be undermined at every opportunity. It should be notible that Pelosi, Obama and Reid have managed to raise the public's ire in less than a 100 days, whereas Bush took around 4 years, i.e. when the anti-war protests ran full steam after the invasion of Iraq.

Not exactly true when the government is oppressive and has all teh power no matter what. Or the populace is brainwashed into believing what the government tells them is true. that said your posit is pretty much on target, but an overthrow of government is not to be taken lightly and most likely we will be too much sheep by then. So it will not happen on a large scale.

April 9, 2009 - 12:39 ET by dscottMaybe, but if it ever came to that with a small scale it would a bloody affair that possible would surpase the death toll in the War Between the States (Civil War). Not to mention, while the country was focused inward, our enemies would be taking full advantage to carve up lots of territory around the world. The US is a moderating influence upon world affairs, with no sheriff to fear, the rogues would run wild. The idea the US isn't loved around the world is a non-sequitur, our enemies will not love us, they are only held in check by fear of the consequences.

Dear kos,
For you queer liberal pansies it is called "tea bagging". Conservatives are a little more hefty. We call it "potato sacking". But I digress. If you queer liberal pansies wouldn't try to enact such horrible policy, conservatives wouldn't have to try to defend our rights from our own countrymen. The only reason you don't want armed conservatives is because you know that one day, someone is going to get tired of your s*** and put a 30-06 right between your beady little eyes. Remember, an armed society is a polite society. And kos, start acting like a man and get a real job. You're annoying to real men.

Libertarians heavily involved in Tea Parties
April 10, 2009 - 04:51 ET by Jack BauerAs a matter of fact, LIBERTARIAN citizens are heavily involved in Tea Parties, being that at the philosophical core of libertarianism is a dislike of BIG GOVERNMENT and its funding by BIG TAXATION.
Also, it's a classic grassroots effort where citizens come together to speak truth to Washington power. It's not a top down cult like the Obamabots, who live to be told what to do, what to think and how to live.
Though you own your ignorance, I urge you to try to "think."
It does help stop making asinine comments about the people who are gung-ho for collectivization and government control (socialists, leftists, communists, fascists)...
And those who support individual rights, less government busybodying, nannying and interfering in one's life, and lower taxes: conservatives and libertarians.
Just because you're a libertine socialist doesn't make you a libertarian. Socialism, and all the assorted degrees of collectivist authoritarianism, are the antithesis of libertarianism -- and conservatism.
