Even as President Obama compares bankers to suicide bombers, his Homeland Security Secretary is suggesting the T-word, terrorism, is too inflammatory and representative of old-fashioned "politics of fear." She's announced a new term: "man-caused disaster." From an interview with the German magazine Der Spiegel:
SPIEGEL: Madame Secretary, in your first testimony to the US Congress as Homeland Security Secretary you never mentioned the word "terrorism." Does Islamist terrorism suddenly no longer pose a threat to your country?
NAPOLITANO: Of course it does. I presume there is always a threat from terrorism. In my speech, although I did not use the word "terrorism," I referred to "man-caused" disasters. That is perhaps only a nuance, but it demonstrates that we want to move away from the politics of fear toward a policy of being prepared for all risks that can occur.
But what if the suicide bomber is a female? Isn't it sexist to use "man-caused disaster"?

Why aren't you reporting on the media's unwillingness to address the fact that Obama is ineligible and that there are multiple lawsuits challenging him in court? They reported on the challenges to McCain, but have almost completely ignored the ones for Obama. And so have most "alternative" sources. Why not get to the bottom of that bias?

You need to look at this from an outsider's perspective. The islamists come from countries where government power is concentrated, militaries are small and concentrated, and economies are based on one industry - oil. They see this country ONLY from movies and filtered news.
9/11 was an attempt to hit the 3 cornerstones of America, ECONOMIC, MILITARY, and GOVERNMENT, with the sole purpose of causing such chaos as to drive us to anarchy. It is a very simplistic view but a deathly serious one.
Economic: They meant to topple the World TRADE Center which lies at the heart of the Financial capital of the planet. Watch a movie made prior to 9/11. When they want to establish that a scene was in New York, what would they show? The twin towers. I am rewatching Friends again. Every single show would have 2 or 3 shots of the towers as establishing shots. We would see the towers and KNOW this was New York.
Military: They meant to wipe out all of our top military figures. They did not know the building was reinforced to survive a nearby nuclear hit. They meant to KILL all of our generals and admirals. This would leave the inexperienced lower castes of the military, who would mostly be conscripts anyway because that is the way the military works in Islamic countries.
Government: Never forget that the plane that went down in Pennsylvania was destined for the WHITE HOUSE. A attempted coup. Islamic countries are all dictatorial. Powers are concentrated in the top people. This was an attempt to topple our government and throw us into disarray.
Fortunately it was an utter failure in that the result was not chaos. They failed to foresee we have a government with powers that are spread over several different branches and we have a defined line of succession. Our economy is broadly diverse and robust. And our military is spread all over the globe. Even if they were to be wildly successfully in demolishing the Pentagon and killing the President, we would have been able to take the hit and recover.
And they were fairly incompetent too. They had the timing off, that is why the passengers were alerted and able to stop the plane headed for the White House. But what they have in abundance is RESOLVE. The hit on the World Trade Center was the 2nd attempt. They learned from the first attempt and they will have learned from 9/11 too.
Now we have an administration that is naive and thinks the threat has somehow diminished? We are not able to call a spade a spade? What other policies is she actively destroying?

Man-caused disasters
March 20, 2009 - 15:24 ET by chazskiIt’s interesting to note that Sec. Napolitano used the term "terrorism" in her reply instead of "man-caused disasters". If one substitutes her new term for the word "terrorism" in her reply to Spiegel, you get, "I presume there’s always a threat from man-caused disasters." It really loses a lot in the translation which, as she said, is the purpose. However, it also results in great confusion. Man-caused disasters can apply to the unintentional as well as the intentional, and the distinction is profound. "Man-caused disaster" can apply to dam collapses, bridge collapses and wardrobe malfunctions, which are vastly different from mad men flying planes into skyscrapers. I think we have a lot to fear in the inability of our Homeland Security Secretary to understand the difference.
