They're Already Naming Schools and Mountains for Obama

CBS News is starting the next wave of Obama intoxication. Rename your school for our Historic Leader:

A school on Long Island has been renamed Barack Obama Elementary School in honor of his historic rise to the presidency.

The move at the largely black and Hispanic school in Hempstead is among the first in what will likely be a wave of name changes around the world now that Mr. Obama has been elected president, from schools and streets to parks and mountaintops.

The prime minister of the Caribbean nation of Antigua has said he's taking measures to have the island's highest mountain peak renamed Mount Obama. In Portland, Ore., students want to rename Clark K-8 At Binnsmead school. Elsewhere on Long Island, the Clear Stream Avenue School in Valley Stream will consider a renaming resolution in December. And parents already have been naming newborns Barack.

What if he turns out to be the worst president in history? What if he is impeached? What if he is a sleaze worse than Slick Willy? I'm not saying he will be - but what if and then you've gone and named your kid after him.

At best for these kids, there will be a lot of confusion as they all have the same name - and one that will not endear them to about 50% of the population.

I gave a lot of thought as to what I named my kids - I looked for meanings that meant much to me (based on my religious beliefs) and yet would not cause them grief in life. It just doesn't seem like parents give a lot of consideration to the child - they just want to be trendy with their kids as well as everything else in their lives.

Off subject, but I agree with the trendy naming thing, My sunday school class is full of Hannah's, Maddie's, Kaitlyn's, and Hayden's, Caden's and Aiden's. Or the kids that have completely made-up nmes with off-the wall spellings. I think it just spells trouble for them as adults. My kids got classy names, not cute and trendy ones.

Or is this another instance of IL state senator - 1/3 of a term US senator - president elect Barry being a "historic" figure (media speak for "Did we mention he's black?"), so it's justified (and how dare anyone deny its "historicalness") ???

First it was he had executive experience because he ran a successful political campaign, never mind he never ran anything.

His days as a community organizer was counted as a successful track record on helping the poor, never mind he wasted $50 million of the Annenberg Grant with no detectable results of improving schooling for the poor.

Then it was he had foreign policy experience because he took a campaign tour of Europe making wonderful speeches and a quick stop in Iraq.

Now he gets schools named after him BEFORE he even takes office, never mind having not even finished four years with nothing to point to or the norm of places being named for a politician after he/she has died.

I'm sorry, if libs can't recognize "Barack Obama Elementary School" as being over the top and creepy you know they have lost their minds to cult worship. The fact that the kids (under 10 years old) voted to change the name screams politicization by the teachers and school board is just plain untoward. Never mind that naming a street or building after a currently sitting politician smacks of politicizing public schools. What is this Tammy Hall? Does the country now belong to the Democrat Party?

Hey Democrats, it's this kind of politics that creates deep divisions and polarization. Restrain your sycophants, it's just plain disgusting and unseemly. Even National Airport when it was renamed to Ronald Reagan National Airport was long after Reagan left office.

I hadn't seen this adoration in Nairobi or Kenya regarding the renaming of the beer, still not sure where he was originally reporting this from, don't really care...as far as I am concerned this is all sickening, irrational, despicable... the difference in how the msm and others treat this empty-suited Soros sock-puppet to how they have regarding Pres. I have never seen the media behave with this much adoration. It's sickening! The media has compared Obama to John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt, and he hasn't even taken office. Unbelievable!

The good news for me out of Ca. is that McClintock seems to have WON according to good pal BEGRUNT...still more votes to go, but very unlikely he will lose according to the article I read Begrunt sent me...I love McClintock and was hoping he would make it as Gov., I also knew there is no way in what has become Ca. now over the years...which breaks my heart, but heck, it is happening now all over the west coast and NW states, it has been a slow incremental process...but it is completing the agenda for the left in my opinion....been living it and watching this happen for decades now.

Thanks for the updated link. As it turns out, the voters of San Francisco rejected the opportunity to rename a sewage plant after President Bush. I'm certain President Bush is disappointed in this rejection.

However, just like President Harry Truman, President Bush may get the last laugh. Many years from now when students are taught about the Iraq war and the freedoms the United States brought to the Iraqi people, and perhaps other countries in the region as well, President George W. Bush will receive the praise and honor he deserves.

Unfortunately, you are probably correct. I failed to fully take into account that the journalist, historians and academics of Truman's era were much more fair and objective than the biased liberals of today.

However, there may be a glimmer of hope. By the time the true biography of President Bush has been solidified in history, the online media will have superceded the Drive-By media, and Bush's legacy may be accurately documented by a far more objective group of bloggers/journalist/historians.
